Until something happens, we can assume that we will not lose any of our rival games. But, backing out? I hope we don't.

Funny how we talk about how our rivalries will be preserved in all of this. Texas A&M just took all of their's and threw em out the window. And no one in that Conference fought very hard to preserve them either. Sounds like a good get to me.

Sounds to me like tu was running everything and aTm got sick of their ****. If I remember correctly everyone thought Nebraska and Colorado were doing the right thing. Your argument isn't a very good one and the rivalry issue is ridiculous. I mean baylor only threatened a lawsuit to keep them, as did 3 other universities.

That's exactly the reason Nebraska and Colorado bailed, and why A&M is bailing. Texas has been calling all the shots and tilting everything under the sun in their own favor, and Beebe has let them get away with it the whole time. The other three knew they could bail for other, more egalitarian conferences. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State were about to as well, until the Pac-12 said "Thanks, but no thanks, unless you're bringing Texas along." Missouri will also wind up pledged to another conference by the years end, just watch.

And any of you who think this realignment business is ruining college football, feel free to point those fingers at TU and Dan Beebe. Other programs are merely available, and the Pac-12, Big Ten and SEC are merely taking advantage of what's out there.

Anyhow A&M. Atleast now I can see my VOLS play another team I hate with regularity.

I wasn't making a specific argument other than to point out that rivalries in this situation are secondary to the money and perceived slights.

People are saying that the conference rivalries will be preserved, but I see no certainty in that conclusion. Everything is on a slippery slope now, and how big the SEC becomes will determine the "new" rivalries we will be seeing down the road.

i have been on a few a&m boards trying to follow this story and it's funny how the media twists things.

i can tell you with a great deal of certainty that a&m doesn't give a damn about no longer playing baylor or texas tech. the whole idea of tossing aside tradition is a farce because the swc died and they have no tradition with the rest of the big 8 that belongs to the big 12.

and no one bothered to give a damn when houston, tcu, smu, and rice were thrown to the wolves.

that's who a&m had a history with, not missouri, kansas, or kansas state.

Amongst younger Bama fans, who probably all hopped on the bandwagon after Saban came to town, I can absolutely buy that they don't even think of us as rivals.

With all due respect, how can you argue the quality of an opponent as the reason they shouldn't be allowed to join when the SEC has Vandy and KY? I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that TAMU has traditionally fielded a better FB team than either.

Well alot of people, and rightfully so, are against expansion. Me personally, I think its fine now, but I am not against expansion. And since it is happening think aTm is a great addition. They have history with AR and LSU. Like it or not, expansion is happening. Just got to hope teams they bring in will be good additions. I don't always like Slive from a UT fan perspective, but he is a very good commissioner.

You may live in bama (as do I) but you are dead wrong. The VOLS are far and away Bama's biggest rival. We have played them 45 more times than AU, beat them more than AU and they will never forget the EIGHT straight years we whupped em. GBO

Being against expansion is fine, everyone's entitled to their opinion, but to say it's because a team is mediocre when they're better than some we already have is a poor reason. Myself, I'm not sure if I'm pro or anti expansion, but I also don't believe it matters. It's gonna happen no matter what I think. So like you, I just hope the teams we get are good teams.

I disagree with you on Slive. I don't think he's a very good commissioner at all. I think he allows certain teams more sway than others. Not sour grapes, not based on one instance, just my overall opinion on things I've read and heard.
