I just joined a few days ago. I needed a little more football in my life and the national boards and the Florida boards just aren't getting the job done.

I'll say right away, just so everyone is clear, that I am a Gator fan, but I am not here to troll, just to talk football. I don't hate Lane Kiffin, I don't think he sucks, I don't even know anything about the guy. I do respect the staff he's put together.

That being said, I read a lot of pre-season publications and I like reading up on UF's rivals so I know what to expect to a certain extent come game day.

Personally, I believe that Tennessee's season will go something like this:

WKU: Win
UCLA: Win
@ Florida: Loss
Ohio: Win
Auburn: Win
Georgia: Win
@ Alabama: Loss
South Carolina: Win
Memphis: Win
@ Ole Miss: Loss
Vanderbilt: Win
@ Kentucky: Win

9-3 seems realistic to me, based on the schedule, as long as nothing goes wrong (mainly injuries on the lines). The games I'm not sure about are Auburn, Ole Miss, and Georgia. I feel like Tennessee can definitely beat all three teams, but they could also lose to all 3 as well.

I feel like the 2009 season sets up a lot like the 2007 season, with the exception being that UT doesn't have to face a top 15 OOC opponent on the road this year. This is a great year for Tennessee to have 8 home games. Transition years are always difficult.

Anyways, so you guys can tear me up if you want, but I just wanted to show you that I am reasonable, and willing to try talk objective football with you guys.

As far as Tennessee vs Florida goes, I just don't think Tennessee is going to be good enough on the LOS to beat Florida in 2009. I don't think the game will be a blowout like the early lines suggest. Maybe something like 27-10 or something.

The end.

Thanks for your input. I think your TN season is our best case scenario. SC, Aub, UCLA, and SC could all go either way. As could Ole Miss and Bama just less likely for us.

If Bryce Brown can come in and really be the stellar player the Vols desprately need then I could see us turning some heads.

What's up with all of these Florida fans joining the board, can't we have a limit on them? :)

Just to point out something important with our game against Alabama this year, is that Alabama has 8 straight games before an off week. We are that 8th game for them. To say they will be tired coming into that game may be an understatement.

Also to argue against my own point, a rivalry like that can make all injuries and fatigue go out the window.

Tennessee always has decent/good skill guys. The difference between pre-2001 tennessee and post-2001 Tennessee is the relative weakness up front on both sides of the ball.

I don't think it matters how good Bryce Brown is if the offensive line doesn't improve dramatically on last year's performance.

That and the Dline looks a little short on depth. That might start to wear on UT later on in the season.

Our defense played two seasons in one last year cause we couldn't keep them off the field. If our OL improves any at all, it'll help the defense.

True, spot on. But I feel like the depth on our Dline is not what rival fans may think. We should be fine here.

Now Offensive line is another story, but I am much more concerned about our pass protection execution. We are in a very run friendly blocking scheme....should be interesting!

They might as well join over here...Hell they talk about as much Tennessee football on the UF boards as WE do here....It's called OBSESSION :eek:lol: I'm serious!...Go to a Gator board and look for yourselves...If that is you can stand the stench :ermm:

Welcome to the board. You seem pretty classy. Could you offer a seminar for other gator fans?

Good points AFL2008. I think our season depends much more on line play than skill position play (with the obvious exception of QB play). I think our RBs and WRs will be fine if the blocking holds up.

DLine will be ok unless injuries deplete what is already a rather thin group.

Oh come on now. Go look at gatorcountry.com

At any one time, on the whole forum, there are maybe 3 UT threads. And I mean, it's only fair, because the vols are one of UF's 3 main rivals.

I think UF fans are far more obsessed with FSU personally. Most UF fans do like making fun of Kiffin though.

It would be interesting for you guys to tell me what the Dline depth is going to look like. I did some reading, and it looks like a freshman is the #3 DT in the rotation. Montori Hughes? It's never a good think when the Dline has to depend on freshmen in the 2 deep.

Am I wrong on that? DE looks OK, maybe even great, but I thought DT was a serious concern?

Welcome to the board.

The analysis above is correct, you obviously know much more about football than the median gator fan.

welcome afl. I dont mind gator fans as long as they aren't obnoxious. Which i also can't stand obnoxious UT fans either. It's just to a lesser degree.
