Welcome Justin Meredith - TE

"It just felt right in my heart," Meredith said via text from the South Carolina Shrine Bowl where he will practice this week for the annual North Carolina-South Carolina all star game.

Meredith was in Knoxville last November to see the Vols beat Ole Miss. This year, Meredith took in the Vols game with Georgia and left very impressed.

"It was ridiculous. I've been to some big-time games in my life and the atmosphere was right up there with all of them," Meredith said.

Meredith is a three-star tight end and is the 6th ranked player in the state of South Carolina. Meredith is a mid-term enrollee and is expected to be at Tennessee in January.

Seems like a really good athlete. If you check his ESPN profile he has the fastest 40 time of the TE's (4.58) and is .8 inches from having the highest vertical. (35 Inches) also ranked as the 6th best in the nation at his position. With all that being said I didn't think we were needing a te in this class and again this is going to be tight. I remember last year in January we thought it was gonna be a big time numbers game cause we thought we were in on a lot more big time prospects than we really were but it worked out. This year seems to be much different. We have very few spots left and are legitimately in the running for some stellar players. I just hope we get the best guys possible in here even if some ''adjusting'' is needed. This is the most critical class of dooleys career. That being said welcome to big orange country Mr. Meredith! Go VOLS!

You never know what can happen tho. What if clear puts on 25-40 pounds and ends up on ol or dl. Not saying he will but things can always happen. Good pick up

Seems like a good pick-up.

Do any recruiting gurus have any idea why FL, UGA, Bama didn't offer?

It amazes me again, how so many were hoping we get this fella, both sites, Dooley gets him...and then people start ????? especially on TOS.

I have no questions of you Mr. Meredith or for that matter the coaches doing the recruiting. Welcome to Rocky Top.

GO VOLS

Eh..not my fav. choice to give a schollie to this year, but seems like a solid addition

We only.have 3 tes on the roster. Two of those may not end up tight ends. This was going to be a critical need next year and with him.being an ee, it was a very good.pickup.

You've said this twice now and its dumb. He is not taking a spot from a lineman we will get every lineman that wants to commit. Te is a huge need for this class .
