Welcome back Vols of Old

Right now I don't know what to think. I am sick of losing. If Boise State can win against big teams with their level of talent than I don't see why high almighty Tennessee can't beat a lower tier Pac-10 team?

I guess we are bottom of the barrel in the SEC this year with Kentucky.

I was thinking on the forth and goal before it was run. IF Kiffin runs a play action he was not scared to lose. If he ran it up the middle he was! Next week. GO VOLS.
And I'm also wondering where was BERRY?

70% of the people on this forum have to be idiots!!! The people on here saying the play calling was bad are the same people saying we were gonna beat Florida. Crompton is just that bad. If we had a decent qb other than him or stephens we would have won that game hands down. Our defense is awesome hands down. But they get tired when they have to play every down. And they still only held them to field goals!!! Kiffin had to change his play calling when he saw crompton make one bad decission after another. Our rd's were tired. I'm sure the person who started this thread said we were brat fl as well. Kiffin is our man. Kiffin did what we had to do to win. And our last 4 downs he had to air it out. Ucla knew he sucked. The put pressure on him and He folded just like they knew he would.

Crompton has all the talent in the world he just does not know how to use it. He looks so confused when throwing the ball. His head is not in the game. I don't know what Kiffin will do but I think giving Stephens the start against Florida is not out of the question. If you look back last year Stephens to me looked a lot more comfortable when he was in the game. I say bench Crompton and start Stephens the reason of the season not matter what happens. Because more than likely he will be a starter next year unless Lamision steps it up alot or Bray comes in and just dominates.

I'll quote Corso on this one "Not so fast my friend". We have a long ways to go and its starts at qb and were in bad shape there.

Hated waking up this morning to the reality that the Vols choked at home and lost a VERY winnable game. Some of the younger folks that haven't been a fan as long don't know about the days back in the 70's and 80's when UT just getting to a bowl game was a big deal. Fulmer took UT up to the next level, but the Vols couldn't stay up there long enough to suit many fans that now can never be satisfied with just a good season.

Something that UCLA and UT have in common is a proud program with lots of wins, that now has an 800 pound gorilla on the block. They have USC and we have the Gators.

I'm as disappointed as anyone, and wish that Kiffin had not run his mouth about Meyer and the Gators in December. But it's water under the bridge, no real fans that know anything thought we could do much more than go to G'ville and slow them down a bit.

Win in Gainesville? C'mon. Vols aren't "back" yet to a point when its reasonable to expect to upset the #1 and defending Natl Champs. If you drunk that Orange kool-aid and bought into premature expectations, that is your own fault.

This doesn't mean we can't see the Vols have a winning season, which at this point will be a sign of progress. But one off-season with a new coaching staff wasn't going to resolve all the problems from last year with the same players.

I feel so badly for Crompton. You know he wanted to win, and some of our classless fans were actually booing him AT HOME. Nice. REAL fans with class NEVER boo your own team.

The biggest cheer that no talent bum will get is when he walks off the field for his FINAL game at UT.....

Don't blame Fulmer, the play calling was all kiffin.

I don't understand people's beef with the playcalling. All it did was keep us in the game and give us a chance to win at the end. If Crompton had continued to throw, we would have lost by 3 touchdowns. People got angry with Sanders and Fulmers playcalling because they would get the lead, go conservative, and keep other teams in the game. Yesterday, we had to go conservative to keep ourselves in the game.

Boise has the best coach in the business. Maybe it is just Boise---Hawkins (ex Boise coach) is floundering at Colorado, but maybe Peterson was the "real" coach at Boise to start with. Lest we forget, Kiff is basically a rookie.
