90% of you guys (not just Volnation, you guys as in UT fans) seemed to have the Vols winning by 20+ points. 52-3 on a "predict the score and win" thread? Seriously. But I wanted to give my thoughts on the game and the remainder of the season:
1. Crompton is the worst QB to ever start a season.
2. CLK needs to realize this.
3. Wasnt too pleased with the playcalling, mostly the decision to open the 2nd half with a PASS after saying that he needed to call better plays.
4. The Oline wasnt that bad. Needed more consistentcy and I thought they would be better. But still did OK (then again, how can you block a defense that plays the run cuz you cant throw?).
5. Defense is still pretty solid, but wont look as good if the offense continues to embarrass themselves.
6. We are ONE player away from a pretty decent team (at least a complete one).
7. Our head coach took his share of blame.
8. Special teams looked good, Cunningham had a GREAT day.

So Im not hating on our guys, I get sick of the fairweathered fans. But glad some of us got back to reality, we needed that.

Good post. I agree with a lot of what you say, but I think that CLKs biggest playcalling mistake wasn't that pass (he was trying to establish at least a bit of a threat and get JC back on track) but that he didn't go to the edge at least once on 3rd and 2 or 4th and one. I think he probably thinks the same thing, so I'm not bashing him but simply observing. Let's be honest, his playcalling was seriously hamstrung b/c of JC's bad performance.

OK maybe when I think to the past I think of punt returns for TDs every game, miseed chipshot FGs and blocked punts and they seemed awesome lol.

If anybody has tickets for next week and are now rethinking making the trip, I would be interested in taking them off your hands.

This team is better on all three sides of the ball over last year. The defense is playing smarter and lot more physical. The special teams were pretty darn good. The offense is more physical but with the personnel they have right now, it's just too difficult to open up the playbook.

I knew it would be a close game. It usually is between these two squads, history tends to repeat itself more often than not.

Thanks but all last week I begged everybody to stop talking about beating UF since we hadnt played UCLA. Cromption is the worst starting qb in div 1 bcs conf...

I really love all the "I told you so" posts after yesterday

It's hilarious. "Remember that time I said this would happen at that thing?" No we don't, because anyone can be right or wrong in GUESSING what will happen and you guessing right means absolutely nothing. Congrats.

You predicted UT by 10 you ole football sage.

Uh, so did the oddsmakers. It was the offensive points by our guys I was talking about. I had originally thought 20-10, but figured (like most people in America) that our D would force more than ONE turnover and that we would capitalize on them. I figured a late FG would put the game away. I knew it would be close but had more faith in JC than a redshirt freshman in Neyland Stadium.

1. FYP
2. He does, that's why we ran the ball on 4 straight times in the next to last possession
3. Playcalling looks a lot better when you have a QB who isn't completely out of touch with the game
4. O-line was horrible. Brian Price was in the backfield every play and not one time did they get into the secondary to help spring long runs that we desparately needed.
5. True
6. True, I think we all know who that one player is
7. and shouldnt have
8. Not that great.. a couple of those punts could have been taken to the house, and will next week
