Weird question

With the switch to Nike, will UT use Nike footballs or keep the Wilson GST's?

Not a weird question at all. I have seen some Nike schools go with the Wilson ball, but the biggest majority go with Nike. I think it comes down to personal preference.

I'll add another question to this..

With the switch to Nike starting in July, will the team wear Adidas in spring practice? Seems awkward lol..

The contract with Wilson expires this June and UT will begin using Nike footballs and basketballs, as the new contract requires.
Ok thanks. I personally prefer GST's but the new Nike Vapor One balls are pretty sweet. Would probably like those better after using them for a while.

From what I heard on the Ainge show a couple years ago.. Ainge said its entirely based on starting QB preference

I believe the team will have to practice with Adidas in the spring because UT doesn't officially switch to Nike until this summer. As far as footballs, I would imagine they would switch to Nike next year, but I think the QB's will have some say in the choice.

Not according to DeerPark

Based on what Wilhoit has said, they'll be thrilled to get away from the balls they're currently using.
Not a weird question at all. A weird question is something like:
Why is phonetic not spelled the way it sounds?
If squeezing olives results in olive oil, how do they make baby oil?
Why do they put Braille dots on the keypad at the drive-up ATM?

The contract requires that UT change to Nike balls. But, just like Wilson does, Nike makes several different models of football and the QBs will help in that selection process.

GST came in 2002'. Casey Clausen fumbled that thing all over SWF vs UF. It began our downfall. When we switch to the Nike ball ... just watch ... we'll start rising to the top. You heard it here first.

God Almighty, this has to be football's best-kept secret. Knowing Phil Knight like I do, why isn't this the foundation of one of his many marketing campaigns? Please elaborate, kind sir.

I think Wilhoit said the Nike ball is better for kicking iirc

I think I remember hearing that several years ago while he was kicking with another kicker. The other kicker was using a Nike ball , when Wilhoit tried it he gained several yards over the Wilson.

Seriously, if true, how can this not be common knowledge?

QBs have a say in which pattern they use - not what brand.

Someone answered this question for me once. If you have a blind person riding in the backseat behind the driver, then they too can withdraw money from an ATM machine with the help of the Braille.
