Pretty boring week in the recruiting forum.

Current Commits 9/13 Stats:
  • "Booth finished with seven catches in a tough 14-13 loss to Center Grove. They'll try and rebound next week against rival Ben Davis." - VQ
  • "Helm had a big night with three touchdown catches, four total catches for 65 yards, as Glenwood beat up Charleston 42-7. Lincoln is next for the undefeated Titans." - VQ
  • "Henderson continues to have a big season as he had eight tackles, two sacks, two forced fumbles and a pass deflection in Shaker Heights 26-0 shutout win over Cleveland Central Catholic. Normandy is the next opponent." - VQ
  • "Medley made all five PATs and recorded a 63-yard punt in Marshall County's 35-28 win over Columbia Central. Spring Hill is up next." - VQ
  • "Creamer finished with 6 catches for 117 yards in ECA's 35-32 loss to St. Peter's Prep out of New Jersey. The Honey Badgers have a week off before traveling to Maplwood in Nashville." - VQ
  • "McDowell caught six passes for 75 yards and a touchdown in a 26-24 loss to Morrow. He also made five tackles with two pass breakups. Next up is Spalding." - VQ
  • "Lambert had five tackles and was in on a key sack in a 22-15 win. He also forced a fumble that clinched the victory for GMC. On offense, Lambert caught a six yard pass." - VQ
  • "Wolf went off for six catches for 96 yards and added eight tackles, a sack and two tackles for loss on defense as Minster blew out New Bremen 41-20, Next up is St. Henry." - VQ
  • On Moseley "I'm interested, as our a lot of other people, in seeing his senior film, especially his game from this past Friday night. He went up against four-star receiver Trevion Thompson and apparently shut him down. He had seven pass break ups and scored three offensive touchdowns. Not too shabby of a night." - VQ
  • On Moseley "Moseley had a big night in his first game as a Volunteer commitment. On offense, Mosley rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries and threw for a touchdown as well while adding 68 yards through the air. More impressive was his work done on four-star wide receiver Trevion Thompson as Moseley had seven pass break ups on the night as Dudley defeated Hillside 24-7." - VQ
  • "Bates had another big night in the Sharks 28-16 loss to Providence as he tallied 18 tackles, three sacks and a blocked punt. Next up is a trip to Clay." - VQ
  • "Wharton caught five balls for 120 yards and a touchdown. He also had six carries for 60 yards in the loss to Beech. Wharton made five tackles on defense. Next up is Ravenwood." - VQ
  • "Gaulden tallied an insane 35 tackles in a 28-21 loss to Beech. He also caught five passes for 57 yards and a touchdown. Next up is Ravenwood." - VQ
  • "Dews recorded seven tackles and a sack in Potomac's 25-14 loss to Leonardtown. Next up is Friendly." - VQ

  • Regarding K. Jackson - "We are looking into his situation at Blinn. Something has happened there obviously. If he has gotten in trouble or removed from the roster, I have a hard time seeing him being a Vol." - Hubbs
  • Regarding K. Jackson - "He was injured at the beginning of the season, not sure why now he's not playing." - Fortenberry
  • Cecil Cherry - “I know I have my mind made up, but if something were to happen to coach Butch Jones, Miami would be my second (choice),” Cherry said. “I just like how coach Al Golden brings family and football together.” “I love Tennessee and the city,” Cherry said. “The feeling of playing in front of 100,000 fans. Their new coaches care about their players and academics. QB Recruiting:
  • Fortenberry says we are still recruiting Jalan McClendon. Elder went to see him play recently.

WR Recruiting:
  • "the feel from inside sources familiar with malone continue to give a slight edge to the volunteers given the push he’s getting from their instate commits and the recent move of ace recruiter tommy thigpen on his recruitment. 247sports crystal ball currently predicts malone to sign with the vols at 74 percent."

OLine Recruiting:
  • Regarding Blair - "Texas A&M is certainly in the race, but I think it comes down to Tennessee and Auburn in the end. He and his family have known Thigpen for probably three or four years now and that is helping Tennessee. He'll visit here this November. Until then, I think there's going to be a lot of speculation out there. After that visit I think we'll know more of where he stands. Still too early." - Fortenberry
  • Regarding David Sharpe - "Tennessee is trying to be a factor here, but it's an uphill climb. He's been talking to Tennessee recently, though. He's a basketball guy, too and so that will play a factor because he wants to go somewhere he can play both sports." -Fortenberry

LB Recruiting:

  • Nyles Morgan says hes been getting to know the UT staff during the last few months. Says he and Thigpen think alike as far as defensive schemes go. An OV to UT is possible. Likes that UT is losing so many LBs.
  • Sharieff Rhaheed likes that he could play early because of how many LBs UT is losing. Wants to visit. UT, Arky and Louisville are the schools coming after him the hardest.
  • Vols offer FL LB Jakob Johnson

DLine Recruiting:
  • Charles Mosley says he may wait longer than Oct 4th to commit. Wants to visit some other schools before making his decision.
  • Andrew Williams likely to visit for UGA game
  • JUCO Jihad Ward sayd UT is likely in his top 5

DB Recruiting:

2015 Recruiting:
  • TN DE Kyle Phillips says he wants to visit UT for a game this fall. Says hes been talking to Strip and Thigpen. Can see the improvement of the team and likes the idea of playing for a state school.
  • FL CB Tyrek Cole top ten of Miami, Alabama, South Carolina, UF, Tennessee, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Ole Miss, and LSU.
  • VA OT Austin Clark syas he will visit UT for S. Alabama game. Doesn't have favorites but talks to UT, UVA and VA Tech the most. Talks to Stripling, Mahoney and CBJ.
  • TN DB Cameron Ordway likely to visit for UGA game. Likes that UT is close to home.
  • TN DB Rico McGraw is eyeing a visit for the UGA game. Says Tennessee is the team he talks to the most.
  • GA WR Preston Williams commits to UT and likely to visit for UGA game
  • SC LB Johnathan Sutton says hes hoping for a UT offer since he was born in Knoxville

Current Team:
  • Saulsberry out 3-6 weeks.
  • "R. Jones is battling circulation/blood clotting issues in his lower extremities." - Hubbs
  • Peterman out 6-8 weeks with broken thumb.

Other Notes:
  • Arian Foster admits to accepting money while playing at UT

Looks like Wharton and Gaulden are going to be two tremendous additions to the secondary. Add TKJr and the Berrys and all of a sudden, our secondary starts to look a whole lot better...

Great info. Thanks again, POA.

I really hope we can hold off the in-state school Miami and hang onto Cecil "the diesel" Cherry. Going into FL and getting Bates and Cherry at LB in back to back years would be huge.

Also hope we do whatever it takes to keep coach Thig in Knox. Recruits absolutely love the guy and he's a great coach as well. If all of our current commits end up signing with UT Thig should get some consideration for recruiter of the year.

I must say, I like it better on this side of the tracks. I ventured over to the football forum and got sucked into the negative shenanigans. If I ever go back over there, please someone smack me...

PassedOutAwake, we definitely have had our differences, but I do appreciate you posting these weekly updates.

It is very difficult for me to get on VN too much & near impossible for me to keep up with threads while I'm in season. I just have no time. You do a great job summarizing all new information into one update. And for that, we thank you.

The only reason I go over there is to take a sh/t and leave. Much more civil here.

Who is the dude again who just committed or maybe we just offered that his only offers are from us and Idaho, and apparently he is about to blow up based on recent performance? Just doing a brain dump.
