• Emmanuel Moseley: "It's a great experience," Moseley said Monday afternoon. "It's a lot of exposure going up against wide receivers I've never gone up against and it's great to be able to compete against them and it's preparing me for when I go to Tennessee." Moseley will move quickly after the O-D Bowl on Jan. 3 as he will move into his dorm room in Knoxville on Jan. 5. Once on campus he will be competing for playing time at cornerback and sees the opportunity in Orlando as another step in preparing himself for spring practice. "I've been viewing this as a building block to the next level because I'll be going against good receivers and they will prepare me for going against Josh Malone, who I will actually be rooming with," Moseley said. "I felt that Tennessee was it," Moseley said. "I always told me dad that if Tennessee offered that was going to be it. I just love the coaching staff. Mosely will be joined by numerous other Tennessee commitments, including Charles Mosley, Vic Wharton, Derek Barnett, Daniel Helm, Cortez McDowell and Cory Thomas. He said he likes the fact that he will get to know the players throughout the week. "It's big and I know we can all play on that type of level. I'm looking forward to getting to know them more this week," Moseley said. -VQ
• Cortez McDowell video on VQ summarized by Swanson: Hubbs has a video interview up on VQ with McDowell at the O&D Bowl in Orlando. Hubbs said that the first thing he noticed is that UT has like 7-8 UT commits at the game and all showed up sporting UT gear. McDowell said they're proud of what they're going to do and want to show the colors and let everyone know UT is in town. He said they're all bonding and really enjoying it and will be together all week wherever they go. Hubbs asked about if other schools contact him and if he listens. McDowell said, "I'm all Tennessee. I won't change my commitment." He then talked some of the playoff game where he had 20 catches at WR and how baseball season is about to start but he's dedicated to playing FB at UT. And then in comes Charles Mosley with the video bomb lol. He slid his face in front of the camera and pulled out his phone as if he was a reporter recording McDowell's answers
• Charles Mosley video on VQ summarized by Swanson: Another great video interview with Mosely by Fortenberry. VQ is down in Orlando covering the O&D game week. Charles said he's down there to have fun and meet all the players and get to know everyone and talking some trash. He said there's players from all kinds of teams down there including some committed to UK and Vandy. He said, "Vandy only has like 5 fans so I had to say something." Fortenberry asked what he wanted to show on the field or if he had something to prove. Mosley said, "I want to make Butch Jones look good." He said UT won't be losing to Vandy while he's at UT and that's why he committed, state pride. He said, "I'm trying to get these guys to decommit and come to UT. I'm trying to get Andrew Williams, but he's funny, I don't know. One dude, he's cousins with Adoree Jackson said he loves UT. I mean, UT has 102,000...Vandy has like 30,000. Why you want to go to Vandy over UT? I'm trying to tell dude that. One dude goes to NCSU....come to UT...come play DL with us. NCSU doesn't even have fans. Come play DL with us!"
• Kevin Mouhon will take an OV to Cincy to see his brother.
• "LB DILLON BATES, PONTE VEDRA (FLA.) Bates also continued playing very well on the second day of practice. The Tennessee commit was always in the right place at the right time. He is very good in pursuit and is very fast to the outside to turn the play back to the inside. Bates also had a few more tackles for loss." - Rivals
• Dewayne Hendrix: "Leading the way at defensive end is Dewayne Hendrix. The four-star O'Fallon (Ill.) prospect, who is committed to*Tennessee, has a good combination of size and athleticism. He does a nice job using his hands to put pressure on the offensive lineman and takes good angles when pursuing the football." -scout
• Gaulden: "Three-star Thompson's Station (Tenn.) Independence safety RaShaan Gaulden is committed to Tennessee. The 6-1, 170-pound Gaulden is very aggressive and physical. He also does a nice job in pursuit and puts himself in position to make plays." -scout
• Army Bowl: Monday East Top 11 "9- Todd Kelly, S, Knoxville (Tenn.) Webb School - Kelly showed outstanding range at free safety, displaying excellent instincts in breaking up a couple of long passes. He’s an excellent athlete that is almost 6 feet tall and 190 pounds. The Tennessee commit and legacy has a chance to make a very early impact for the Vols next season. It would not surprise at all to see him earn a starting position at some point barring injury." -247
•
• Vic Wharton: "I feel like it has gone fast," Wharton said smiling. "I remember being the first commit and now with there being over 30 it's crazy. With me being able to help recruit and with coach Jones being a great recruiter, when some wondered if he would be when he got the job, I think you couldn't ask for a better class." "With me, my personality is about competition," Wharton explained. "That's what I'm really into. I don't care if you are a 5-star receiver, I don't care. That's the position I play, but I want you to come help bring Tennessee back to where it's supposed to be. The best player is going play once we get on the field and whoever works the hardest. If that's me or if that's him, I have to show what I can do. I'm just trying to win a National Championship and bring it back to Tennessee. "We didn't really pitch the whole we are going to be good this year. We pitched that once we get there we are going to help make a difference with coach Jones and company. With our class, I feel like we are a top 5 class in the country. I feel like we can get a couple more guys like Adoree Jackson and Andrew Williams, but we never really pitched the whole win games, win games. We pitched let's get this class together and when we get to Tennessee we are going to help make a difference with the other players that are already there. The 2015 class is off to a good start with Cecil Cherry, Preston Williams and others. I say 2016 we can make a run for a championship for sure." -VQ
• Army Bowl: Monday East Top 11 - "2- Josh Malone, WR, Gallatin (Tenn.) Station Camp - Malone, who is committed to Tennessee, was a notch above the other East receivers. Given his size, speed and hands combination, Vols fans have to be excited over seeing Malone pair with this year’s tall, freshman receiver Marquez North starting this spring. The 6-foot-2, 191-pound Malone is such a physically-gifted player, provided he picks up the offensive system quickly, he could see plenty of snaps in 2014 in the Southeastern Conference for Tennessee." -247
• Army: East morning best by position - WR – Josh Malone, Gallatin (Tenn.) Station Camp – Tennessee commit - No single wide receiver really separated during the morning session because of limited opportunity but Malone was probably the biggest eye-catcher. His size provides mismatch ability and he can also stretch the field with his speed. His most impressive play came when Jacob Park threw a jump ball to him down the field and he just outmuscled Chris Lammons to come down with it. -247
• Video discussion with Hubbs and Fortenberry on VQ discussing UA practice and players. Hubbs said Bates is right at 220 lbs and hopes to be 225 when he gets to UT. Hubbs said he spoke with Herm Edwards who is coaching Bates team and he said what separates Dillon is his FB IQ, you tell him something and he does it right the next time. Edwards said UT is getting a very good LB.

• FREE Video of Mosley, Moseley and Vic - Scout.com: Mosley on the mic; Vols commits at O-D
• Adoree Jackson: Video on VQ with Hubbs and Fortenberry discussing UA practice and some of the recruits. Fortenberry said UT is going to be in his top 6 and will be in it to the end. Fort also said talking to Adoree and folks close to Adoree UT will get an in-home visit and Adoree is really looking forward to that. Fort said LSU and UF are likely at the top and UT/FSU are next in line but he wouldn't count out UT at all, they're definitely in the mix to get his signature.
• "Orlando Brown just checked in. Very solid to Tennessee. He has done a spectacular job of reshaping his body over the past couple years. He is now 338 and looks much leaner." -Chris Nee
• Todd Kelly: “stanford and alabama have still tried to contact me, but i told the coaches i’m all vol. I’ve told both of those schools that. Hats off to them for not giving up. But at the same time, i’m definitely going to tennessee.” “i know that all the guys down here (at the u.s. Army all-american bowl) are pretty great players, so if anyone’s interested in tennessee, i’m definitely going to let them know how good the school is and things of that nature,” “the only person i talk to now is (five-star cornerback) adoree’ jackson, and that’s because our class is basically full already. We have 30-something people, so i don’t know how many more people we can take. I’m not surprised at all, just because of the man coach jones is and what he’s building. He’s building something special that a lot of people can see from other schools, as well," kelly said “i’ve met some guys who are committed to other schools, and they’re saying, ‘wow, tennessee has been doing a great job recruiting. You’re going to be the team to beat in a couple of years.’ and i’m telling them that they’re right, because we’re going to be pretty darn good. It’s pretty cool, but it’s just hard to realize how good we’ll be with all the talent that we have from different states. We’ve had commits from over 10 different states. It’s going to be pretty cool, and we’re all really close, so i think that’s the main important thing.” “going in there, no one knows if they’re going to start or not,” said kelly, who’s planning to take his official visit to tennessee in late january. The coaches haven’t made that clear to anybody. You have to work for what you receive, so i’m going to go in with an open mind and soak in all that i can from the players that started last year, just so i can pick up the coverages and things of that nature.” -247
• On Bates recruiting at the All Star game... "He told me that he's trying and working on him. He didn't want to get detailed in their conversations but he has worked him hard all week. He's been working Scarbrough as well. I know he showed them the Bulletproof video. It even got Berrios' attention for a little bit." -Hubbs
• Josh Malone: “I think I’m going to play right away,” he said. “A red-shirt year is beneficial if you’re not physically prepared, or if you’re not mentally prepared. I feel like I’m ready to go out there and start playing and start competing.” “I’m ready for the next step in life,” he said. “I’m ready to go up there and compete and get ready to build that program back up, and start competing on a top SEC level.“I already spent my last night in my home town. I have to go get my stuff at home and then after that I’m going up there. It’s only three hours away.” “You get to see where you’re at, and how you can rank yourself against the top competition,” Malone said. “We’re talking to each other. We’re in the same class so we have to know each other, and it’s been good getting to know them. I know a lot of the other guys also, so it’s been a good experience being down here with them and being able to reconnect with them.” -scout
• Aaron Medley: "I'm just trying to have fun here. It's a dream to come down here and hanging out with these players. For the the kickers, you don't have to learn a new offensive system or a defensive system. For us, it's just making kicks and having fun just enjoying ourselves here," Medley explained. "They told me to be ready for all 3 if need be. I'm really trying to concentrate on kicking first, then punting. That's kind of how I see myself progressing. "I really haven't had that much formal training as a punter." "It's all about accuracy. That's one thing that James (Wilhoit) has really taught me," Medley offered. "You want to be really consistent and to the point that you know what you're doing if you miss 5 foot right or 5 foot left. I'm not quite to that point yet, but I think I will be there by the end of spring." "Most kicks in college come from 30 and 40 yards. You might have 3 or 4 past 50 in an entire season. Those kicks, if you can get 2 or 3 of them you're great," Medley said. "But the really consistent kickers are perfect from inside 40 yards and that's what I'm trying to be." "Usually in a practice, I will have 10 spots and I will work both hashes back and forth like a zig zag. If I'm feeling good, I will hit a few from past 50. Both other than that, I will do a round and evaluate myself. If I hit 8 of 10 then I will do another round to go 9 for 10. It all depends. I've had some rounds where I go 6 for 10 and I'm like that's unacceptable and I will kick another round because that's not good enough." -VQ
• Kevin Mouhon: “It’s cool to get to know your future college teammates,” Mouhon said. “We created a bond just getting to know each other. Todd and Josh are pretty funny so it’s really nice to come out here and chill.” “It’s community,” he said. “It’s just a football carnival over there and I just had a gut feeling. It’s usually really hard for a recruit to make a big decision, but for me it was pretty simple. I made a gut decision and Tennessee was there.” -scout
• Dewayne Hendrix: “When I went down there, I really enjoyed the campus and the coaching staff,” he said. “They’re starting to do some nice stuff and I just want to be a part of it.” “The coaches were always there when I needed them,” Hendrix said. “Whenever I needed someone to talk to I could always talk to them.” “When I first met coach Jones, I thought he was a very down-to-earth person and I could see myself being coached by him.“Sometimes you wouldn't even know that he’s a coach because he’s always there to talk to you. He’s a great mentor and I look up to him.” Although he has been committed for a while, Hendrix said*Missouri*and*Oregon*are still recruiting him. However, he is 100 percent committed to Tennessee and done with the recruiting process." -scout
• Dillon Bates: "First off, Bates really came alive in the second half and finished with four tackles and a tackle for a loss with a couple of nice hits on two different five-star running backs. I thought he looked good in run support in the second half and you could tell he got in a rhythm. As to the Alabama stuff, he laughed and said, 'No, where did that even come from?' when I asked him about him visiting or being interested. He's all Vol." -Fortenberry
• Dillon Bates: "We were just on a rotation, that's how it was at the very beginning. Whenever I got in there I wanted to make my presence known and wanted to make plays and do my job," Bates said. "All of the pre-game jitters got to me a little," Bates said. "You see the read and you know you should attack the read and be there but there's a little hesitation. But, once you get the pre-game jitters out it's like a normal game and a normal thing and all the reads happen like common sense. It did kind of click." "It felt good," Bates said. "I had a pretty good one on Fournette in the first half. You always like those. You're thinking, 'I have to hit these guys hard,' because they are five-star running backs, but you use your form, your technique and you get them. Those definitely felt good." "This was amazing. It's definitely something I'll remember for the rest of my life and something I will tell my kids about," Bates said. "This was probably the most fun week of football I've ever had. I'm just thankful for this and just thankful for the sponsors and everybody that included me in this week." -VQ
• Rashaan Gaulden: “The funny thing is that I was not feeling Tennessee at first,” Gaulden said. “Then Butch Jones drew me in. We now have a great relationship and I feel in love with everything about Tennessee.” “This is his first real class,” Gaulden said. “Look at what he has done. Coach Jones is going to change things around. They are rebuilding the roster.” “I want to compete right away,” Gaulden said. “But I know I have to earn my stripes. I want to play as early as possible.” -scout
• "Orlando Brown has definitely lost a lot of bad wait. He looks like a completely different player from last year. He still plays a little bit high, though, so he's going to have to learn how to bend his knees better." -Brian Perroni
• Jalen Hurd: “The same day that I come home from this, the next day I’m going straight to Knoxville,” said Hurd, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 33 overall prospect in the 2014 class by 247Sports. “I am (already packed). The day after that, that’s when I start my classes and start workouts and everything like that.” “The group definitely knows that we have a responsibility to play,” said Hurd, who expects to play running back for the Vols. “Anybody that commits has to know that responsibility. All the commits already inform all the recruits and stuff like that trying to come in and be a commit that we do have a responsibility. “We have pressure on us right now, but that’s the reason why we committed. We want that pressure. We want to be able to know that we brought a program back.” “I’m 100 percent right now,” he said. “In about two weeks, I’ll get back in the weight room and have no restraints at all, so I will definitely be playing in the spring. “I went to rehab nonstop, and I’ve been working my butt off, and hopefully I think I’ve gotten a lot better over this offseason with just (my) core and balance and things like that — little parts of my game that I haven’t worked on that much. I think it’ll all come out straight.” On landing Adoree: “I think we definitely have a chance,” Hurd said. “Coach Jones, he has a really close relationship with Adoree’ and vice versa. And just our entire recruiting class as a whole, we’re trying to get him and just trying to get players here and just put a little word in, if that helps at all, so I definitely think we have a chance.” -247
• "5. LB DILLON BATES, PONTE VEDRA (FLA.) Continuing with his great play from the week of practice, Bates was very solid. The Tennessee commit had four tackle and one for a loss in a key situation when team Highlight was driving. Bates' football IQ really served him well as he always seemed to be in position to make a play on the ball. Bates may be a little undersized but it clearly didn't make a difference as he was able to fight through blocks and made a nice tackle for a loss." -Rivals
• "For early guys, Henderson and Creamer. Other than that, Weatherd has to have a really good semester. Bryant needs to continue to do well and Orlando Brown has some grade concerns, too. " -Fort
• "3. WR JOSH MALONE VS. CB DAMON WEBB: Josh Malone has proven his talents and has been solid throughout the week for the East squad. Rivals100 cornerback Damon Webb comes equipped with a very well- rounded game of his own. Both have been consistent throughout the week and do not make many mistakes. This will be a battle of wills and both are high-effort guys with big-time ability." -Rivals
• "McDowell said he's taking no other official visits in January and will be back up in Knoxville in January, Jan. 24, to hang out with the official visitors." - Fortenberry
• Vic Wharton: After only having one catch in the first half for four yards Tennessee wide receiver commitment Vic Wharton said he and the National Team quarterback began to click. Wharton added four catches in the second half, including a one-handed grab on the sideline and a big fourth-quarter catch that lead to a touchdown. Even though the National quarterback missed Wharton down the seam a few times he understood it likely wasn't going to be his best outing. "Being an All-American game you're not sure how they are going to play you and that's just how it ended up," Wharton said. "At the beginning of the week I was starting and then I hurt my hamstring and missed practice so that hurt me. But, I felt like the quarterback and myself connected in the second half." Wharton said he has been working hard on making sure he is a receiver the quarterback could trust since his season ended in November. "I was trying to make sure I'm a sure catcher when I get to Tennessee so I've been working on the JUGS Machine," Wharton said. "I feel like I showed I can catch the ball out here. Five times targeted and five catches." -VQ
• Derek Barnett headed to Orlando hoping to find a way to play in the Offense-Defense Bowl. But, with no way to make sure he wouldn't injure his hand again he was out for the game. "It was hard watching them play today but it was still a good week. It wasn't a regular season game or anything, just an all-star game," Barnett said. "If it was a regular season game I would have played. There's no point in playing today, though." Barnett said it was nice to have friends and current Vol commits around to help keep his spirits up during the week. "It made it easier. I got to hang out with all the guys I know and that was the best part about it," Barnett said. -VQ
• Emmanuel Moseley: "Like Helm, the next step for cornerback Emmanuel Moseley is to enroll early on Sunday at Tennessee and already has his priorities in line. "Once I go back tomorrow I'm off to college on Sunday," Moseley said. "Do good in school, that's my focus and then perform on the field." Moseley, who broke up two passes, hopes to put on weight to be ready to try and compete for playing time this spring and into next fall. "I would like to get up to 180 by the fall to get some mass on me," Moseley said. -VQ
• Charles Mosley: After spending the first half in slides, Charles Mosley was able to find some solid footing in the form of some Nike running shoes. "Somebody stole my bag. I think somebody was mad I was shining in practice,"Mosley said laughing. "So, I'm out here in Nike's and I'm still trying to ball." Mosley said after looking all morning for his cleats he had to run around town trying to find football cleats in his size. "I went to all the stores today and no one had 18s. I was out for two hours looking for shoes," Mosley said. When Mosley finally got in the game his impact was not only felt on the line of scrimmage but it was heard as well. "It was fun. I was talking some much trash. I talked trash to everybody," Mosley said. -VQ
• Cortez McDowell: "There were some rumblings the last few weeks that Cortez McDowell was someone who could possibly visit Auburn or another school. Again on Friday he said that's not true and only plans to visit Knoxville for an unofficial visit this month after playing in the O-D Bowl where he had one pass deflection. "I'm flying up to Knoxville on Jan. 24 with some of the guys to take an unofficial while the other guys are taking their official visit so I can hang out with the commits, McDowell said. "Then, after that it's straight to baseball." - VQ
• Daneil Helm: "The National Team's offense only used the tight end in blocking situations as Helm was only on the field a handful of times and never ran a route. Even though it was a less than desirable situation Helm said he enjoyed the experience. "I'm glad I experienced it still because I got to know more of what it would be like to block in college," Helm, the No. 1 ranked tight end in the country, said. "I had some good defensive ends on my time like (Andrew) Williams and (Lawrence) Marshall who's going to Michigan. I enjoyed the challenge of trying to block them in practice but I wish I had more opportunities to do that in the game." Helm said he weighs around 225 pounds and after seeing himself on the jumbotron at the Citrus Bowl several times he noticed he has some work to get to playing size. "I'd like to be able to look on the jumbotron and not think I'm pathetically small. That was bad," Helm said laughing. "I was small compared to some of these guys. I definitely need to put on some weight and get stronger. I noticed that doing more blocking. Some of these guys have 20 pounds on me and they are a lot stronger than me so I need to get better in both of those." Helm said his goal is to try and reach 240 pound by the fall. He added he believes he will wear 17." -VQ
• Under Armour: The Farrell Awards "Hard Hat: Dillon Bates, Ponte Vedra, Fla.: This one goes to the biggest hitter, which is essentially the guy who laid the lumber in the game because there was not much tackling to the ground in practice. Bates arrived at the football with meaning not only during the week but in the game as well. Bates isn't the biggest linebacker and he could end up being a safety at the next level, but wherever he plays, he will not only flash the great instincts he has all week, but he'll knock a few heads." - Mike Farrell
• "Wolf, Helm, Thomas, Payne, Moseley, Pearson, Johnson and Mixon are either here or should be here by the end of the night. The other six should trickle in by the middle to end of the week." - Fortenberry
• Free Scout article and video of Vic Wharton: Scout.com: Wharton 'can't wait' to suit up for Butch

QB Recruiting:
• TN QB Luke Ward: "Tennessee is looking at him as a preferred walk-on. He doesn't have great accuracy but has some athleticism to him. I think he would do well at an FCS school where he can continue to develop." -Fortenberry

Longsnapper Recruiting:
• UT offers TN LS Wesley Horky a walk on spot

RB Recruiting:
• "Bo Scarborough hasn't ruled out visiting Tennessee. He has 2 visits left and 4 schools. Fl, fsu, ok, and tn." - Hubbs
• Bo Scarbrough: "I keep in touch with coach (Robert) Gillespie," Scarborough said. "He came down to the school a couple of weeks ago and was talking to me and told me how much they need another running back to come in with Jalen Hurd. He was telling me that they need me." "It's very hard right now," Scarborough explained. "I actually wish I could have had a few of my official visits back but it is what it is and things happen for a reason. It's very hard because I want to take official visits to Florida, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Florida State because of the coaches. The coaches are great and I think coach Gillespie is a good guy." "I actually went on a visit there my junior year for junior day and I saw some of Tennessee but I didn't see everything and coach Butch had just got there. He was talking about how they're building right now and it would be great to be apart of a building team, but at the end of the day I just think coach 'G' is '100.'" -VQ

WR Recruiting:
• DeAndre Thompkins: "While this whole Bill O'Brien to the NFL talk was cooking this week, UT contacted PSU WR commit DeAndre Thompkins, who is here at the Under Armour All-America game. Even before BOB to the NFL became official last night, Thompkins apparently was giving UT some positive signs in their conversations. Now that the move has officially happened, it's something to watch. The problem for the Vols, and maybe even Thompkins is the fact he planned to enroll at PSU on Jan 10 or 11." -Luke Stampini
• DeAndre Thompkins: "It's our understanding that he contacted Tennessee. We will talk to him tomorrow after the UnderArmour game. He's an EE which puts him in a tough spot. The question is does Tennessee have room for another receiver? It will be interesting to see what happens. Penn State is telling people they will have a coach in place in the next 10 days. I would think he would wait as long as he could to see who State hires. He's never been to Tennessee to my knowledge. We will be chasing him." -Hubbs
• UT has been in contact with Isaiah McKenzie
• DeAndre Thompkins: "Finally, De'Andre Thompkins said he talked to coach Azzanni after the Bill O'Brien to the Texans stuff broke. Right now he's not sure what he's going to do. If he remains an early enrollee classes begin on Jan. 13 at Penn State. His phone has been ringing a lot and a number of schools have called. He would prefer to early enroll, but isn't sure that's what he wants to do now. His next move is to talk to his family about what he wants to do. So, we will see what he does from there as he's going to have several options but will have to make a decision within a week on whether or not he's going to be an early enrollee." -Fortenberry
• Isaiah McKenzie: "Isaiah McKenzie said he talked to Coach Azzanni yesterday and will call him later this weekend or next week to talk more in depth about Tennessee. Tennessee hasn't offered but the two parties certainly seemed interested in each other. Florida also has been in touch with McKenzie as his stock really took off this week." -Fortenberry

DB Recruiting:
• Adoree Jackson: “I honestly still don’t know what I’m going to do and that’s the truth,” Jackson said. “The three schools I’m feeling the most, just from who seems to be recruiting me the hardest right now are LSU, USC and Florida. I’m also looking at Florida State, UCLA,Tennessee and Oregon. “USC wants me at receiver,” Jackson said. “Just about everyone else has said they want me at corner, but I’ll have a chance to play receiver too. Florida has talked to me more about receiver first and then going to corner. LSU, Florida State and Oregon want me for corner. Honestly, track is just as important as football for me,” Jackson said. “It’s a 50-50 decision for me. Out of all the schools, I probably have the best relationship with the track coaches at Florida." -scout, from the UA game.
• Fortenberry says the staff might be interested in taking DeAndre Thompkins as a CB
• Adoree Jackson releases a top 6 of UF, LSU, Oklahoma, UT, UCLA and USC
• skeeter makes an appearance and says the staff thinks UCLA has the upper hand with Adoree Jackson

2015 Recruiting:
• Jaason Lewis: "Vols lead for Lewis and it's a good sized lead right now." - Fortenberry
• GA RB Eric Swinney: "I hear from Tennessee a lot, I really like coach Jones, that staff and what they're doing up there," Swinney said of the Vols' early efforts. "I probably hear from Tennessee as much or more than anybody. I've talked to (running backs') coach (Robert) Gillespie a lot." "I've definitely noticed how they're recruiting, I pay attention to that stuff and you kind of notice when a new staff comes in and starts getting things turned around like they are at Tennessee," Swinney said. "Coach Jones and that staff have a lot of energy, they really seem like they're turning things around there and doing some exciting things." "I've been up there for a couple of official visits and like the campus a lot, it's a beautiful place and the environment in the stadium for a game is great," Swinney said. "I like that offense too, the way they play, that fits my style. "I think I'm back that can do a lot of different things and I like how they spread it out and play fast." -VQ
• "RUNNING BACKS Needs: 1-2 Committed: 0 WHY: While Tennessee will land either two or three running backs in the class of 2014, the reality is Tennessee is still behind the eight-ball in terms of depth at the position. If the Vols only grab two running backs in 2014 that means there will be only four scholarship running backs on campus next season with Marlin Lane scheduled to graduate next year. The need is real at running back, even with what could be a nice class this year. WHO: Athlete Jaason Lewis has the Vols out in front and it seems that lead is growing steadily at this point and at 6-foot-2, 230-pounds, he's wanting to play tailback at the next level. Along with Lewis, Tennessee has already positioned itself nicely with several guys like Georgia running back Eric Swinney and Alabama running back Nick Gibson, who says the Vols and Mississippi State are currently his top two schools. Tennessee is also in the mix for guys like Jacques Patrick out of Florida and Mike Weber out of Michigan." - VQ
• GA DE Arden Key: “Tennessee is (contacting me) every day. Basically, (they have said) they’re looking for size, length and speed, and they feel like I can fit in their program[.] “I haven’t been up there (to Tennessee). I’m trying to get up there for one of their junior days.” “Mostly, what I’ve heard was the facilities are nice and they have a great atmosphere,” Key said. “I really heard it from Wesley, my teammate. He went up there, and he told me a lot about it.” “Right now, I want to take things slow and wait ‘til signing day,” Key said. “But I’ve got a feeling I’m going to make an early (decision) — like, summertime, right before the season — so I don’t have to worry about (recruiting during) my senior year and I can cruise my senior year.” - 247 Said he's spoken to Wesley Green about UT, and he's heard all good things. He said his reason for decomitting from USCe was not because they did anything wrong, but it was because he wanted to see what other schools had to offer. He said that the schools he's hearing from and considering are UT, UGA, and USCe.
• GA OLB Quarte Sapp: Alpharetta, Ga., outside linebacker Quarte Sapp has been going up against some of the best the Peach State has to offer all week in preparation for today's AT&T Junior Bowl in Atlanta. "It reminds me a lot of playing in our district," Sapp said. "There are so many good players out here it can only make you better to go up against this competition. It just shows me that I have to continue working hard because no matter how good you think you are, others are always pushing to pass you up." "I'm looking for a balance really," Sapp said. "I want a place with good academics, but I also want a place that is playing at a high level and that competes for championships." In the mix is Tennessee and the Vols have asserted themselves thanks to running backs coach Robert Gillespie. "He believed me from the beginning," Sapp said. "He is a laid back guy. I've not seen him coaching up close, but he has been completely honest with me. He keeps it real and that means a lot to me." "I was looking to commit on my birthday on March 6th," Sapp said. "After this, I want to see if any other offers come from playing in this game. I'd like to take a few more visits and see what others have to offer." -VQ
• SC DE Rasool Clemons: "I just visited with Aiken, SC defensive end Rasool Clemons. Clemons is a 4-star defensive end who was in Knoxville for the Auburn game and plans to be back this spring or summer to see the Vols again. The receivers coach on his high school team is a Tennessee fan and Clemons likes the family atmosphere in Knoxville and the personality of the coaching staff. He has also been to Clemson a couple of times and was at FSU last some for camp. He's going to be a highly recruited player. The Vols have offered and were by the school in December." -Hubbs
• FL ATH Deon Cain: "I also visited with athlete Deon Cain. The Tampa, Fla. product said he was looking forward to playing receiver tomorrow and trying to embarrass some defensive backs. Cain said that he feels his "motor" is what schools like about him. Coach Gillespie is recruiting Cain and the two have spoken multiple times. Cain said Tennessee, Clemson, and FSU were recruiting him the hardest. He hasn't been to Knoxville yet. His 7 on 7 team is taking a summer tour of schools and Tennessee is on their list to visit so he is expecting to be in Knoxville this summer, likely June." -Hubbs
• FL ATH Deon Cain: "I'm pretty much looking for any of the top defensive back prospects. I'm ready to embarrass them to show them that I'm the best out there," Cain said. "Right now, the teams that I'm hearing from the most are Clemson, Florida State and Tennessee," Cain offered. "They are keeping my interest right now. I'm not really talking to any other schools that much other than those three. "They are pretty much still getting to know me. That's what we talk about right now." "I've been talking to coach Gillespie. I don't really know too much about them. He tells me a lot about himself, the program and what is coming up," Cain said. "He's trying to find out more about my personality and me. "I have a seven on seven team and we take a bus tour in the summer seeing schools and I know Tennessee is one of the schools on the tour so I'm going to be able to see them then." -VQ
• "Ugo Amadi said Tennessee is 'on top' for him right now." -Fortenberry
• "Tyree St. Louis said Tennessee is the firm leader right now." -Fortenberry
• "Darian Roseboro said he plans to visit Tennessee at least three times this spring and summer and seems to really like Tennessee right now." -Fortenberry
• TN TE Jackson Harris: ""It's definitely exciting, but kind of crazy. One month I'm talking to one or two coaches and the next week I have 11 offers. It's crazy but it's definitely a great experience. Harris was on campus for Tennessee's contest against Auburn this past season and like what he experienced in Neyland Stadium. "I liked it. It's a huge stadium and a great atmosphere. I had never been to one and I was definitely surprised," Harris said. Even though Tennessee has yet to offer Harris yet he still talks regularly with Vols' tight end coach Mark Elder as Elder dropped by Columbia Central High School during the open period in December. "They are just recruiting me and going through the process and we message a lot. He's a great guy and I like the way he coaches," Harris explained. "I like the coaching staff and I think they are interested because they still talk to me. Even though Tennessee has yet to offer, Harris said he wouldn't consider them late to the party if they were to offer in the future unless he narrows his list. "The only way it would matter is if they offer me and I've already narrowed my list," Harris said. "I do plan on cutting it down to six or seven here in a few months. If they do come in it doesn't matter much because I've already seen them and have a relationship with them." -VQ
• FL ATH Jordan Cronkrite: "I met coach Gillespie and the wide receivers coach and both of them told me they liked what I saw," Cronkrite said. "I didn't get an offer when I was up there working out but they called me and told me they had an offer for me." "It's different than the Miami feel. I've been to Miami numerous times and it was a beautiful campus campus, a great campus," Cronkrite explained. "It was crazy, I had never seen mountains before and that was nice to see." With a visit already under his belt he hopes to see Tennessee again, this time with his family. "I want to go up with my parents again because they haven't seen it," he said. -VQ
• FL ATH Deon Cain: "2015 ATH Deon Cain has offers from Clemson, Florida, FSU, UCF, USF, Tennessee and GT. FSU, Clemson and Tennessee are standing out. He wants to visit Florida in March. Alabama, Ole Miss, Miss St, Miami and Vandy are close to offering. He wants to make a decision towards the end of his senior season." -Adam Friedman
• MD OT Pat Allen: "2015 Rivals250 OL Pat Allen just checked in. His newest offers from from FSU and VT. He likes FSU's engineering program and the VT coaching staff. Tennessee, FSU, VT, USC and WVU are really standing out to him. He is still getting letters from the coaches at USC. He wants to visit FSU, Wisconsin and Georgia. He might decide after his senior season." -Adam Friedman
• SC DE Rasool Clemons: "Aiken (S.C.) South Aiken defensive end Rasool Clemons said Tennessee, Virginia, Clemson and Florida State have offered and that the Volunteers stand out most." - Adam Gorney, Rivals
• GA RB Eric Swinney: “I want to get a decision in before my senior year. But it might be tough to do that, from where I am right now,” said Swinney, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 93 overall player and No. 9 running back in the 247Sports Composite, which equally weighs prospect rankings and ratings from major recruiting media outlets. “There’s no leaders right now. It’s just that top group — Florida State, Auburn. Georgia’s in there, too, and Tennessee and Ole Miss.” “I mean, the atmosphere (at Tennessee) was crazy. The fans were crazy, out at 8 in the morning just partying, tailgating. It was pretty cool,” Swinney said. “They’re heading in the right direction. I see the way they’re recruiting and everything, and they’re heading in the right direction trying to build up the program.” On Gillespie: “He talks to me a lot,” Swinney said. “(He says) that he wants me to come play for Tennessee and everything and that I’m a perfect fit in their offense. He just really wants to coach me really bad.” -247
• GA QB Lorenzo Nunez: The Top247 junior quarterback from Harrison High School in Kennesaw, Ga., who now claims more than a half-dozen offers to date, said he went to the Vols’ home finale against Vanderbilt on Nov. 23 after making his first visit to Knoxville during the summer. “It was exciting seeing them play, seeing the environment and just the school and stuff like that, and how the coaches interacted with the players,” said Nunez, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 151 overall prospect and No. 5 dual threat-quarterback for the 2015 class in the 247Sports Composite, which equally weighs prospect rankings and ratings from major recruiting media outlets. “It was crazy — all the orange and stuff like that. It was a pretty big environment.” The 6-foot-2.5, 190-pound Nunez holds early offers from Ohio State, Tennessee, Clemson, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Boston College and Charlotte, and he said no one is standing out among the teams currently pursuing him. But he said he has become plenty familiar with the Vols over the past several months by staying in contact with Tennessee offensive coordinator Mike Bajakian and wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni, and he’s already planning to return to Knoxville at some point. “(They’re saying) just how much they like me and how they want me to come back up to the school for a junior day and talk to me and stuff like that,” Nunez said. “(I like) how straight-up they are with me, and they’re not playing games and stuff like that, and how much they like me and they talk to me, like, weekly.” He also said Tennessee’s facilities, including the new Anderson Training Center, were “pretty neat.” But he said he’s “just looking at how the coaches interact with me and stuff like that, because all the campuses are pretty much the same.” - Ryan Callahan/247
• AR TE Will Gragg: "One more tight end note, Will Gragg from Arkansas had a really good day and he's cousins with former Vol receiver Bret Smith. But, his older brother, Buffalo Bills TE Chris Gragg, went to Arkansas. He said if the Vols offer he would certainly listen and he already talks to Elder 'two or three times a week.' He has offers from Alabama, Ole Miss and Arkansas and said those three teams are standing out but the Vols would likely join with an offer." -Fortenberry
• FL OL Tyree St. Louis: "It's the tradition about them and it's the fact that I feel like I'm at home when I'm there," St. Louis explained. "Even though it's a number of hours away I feel like I'm right next to my home. They treat me how I want to be treated and they have promised me everything I want in a school. Tennessee is my number one right now." On Mahoney: "The best thing about him is that he's one of those really calm and collective coaches," St. Louis said. "He's the kind of guy that if you mess up he's not going to be yelling at you but he's getting to the details and showing you what you did wrong so you don't make that mistake again." "I want to see more than what I saw at camp, like what is Tennessee really like behind closed doors," St. Louis explained. "What about the schools is giving them the great tradition or why does Tennessee feel like home? I want to find out what makes me feel like I do." -VQ
• FL TE Garrett Williams: "I loved it and it was great to come back for game day and experience it and experience the fans and see the team and see how the fans stay behind the team," Williams said. "I'm excited to see how coach Jones turns the place around." "Coach Elder is a great man, so is coach Jones, and they are running a great program," Williams explained. "Tennessee has the facilities, the academics, everything and they are in a great part of the country. Tennessee is beautiful. That's what keeps me talking to them and why I might end up there." "I just have to pray about it a lot. Wherever God wants me to be I have faith that he will reveal that to me in the coming months. I'm just going to rely on him for that," Williams said. Williams plans on having a busy winter and spring visiting schools that he has yet to see. "I've seen Clemson, Florida State and Tennessee a number of times so I'm trying to get out to Ole Miss and North Carolina, two schools I also love," Williams said. "I'm going to try and get out to the West Coast and see Oregon, Stanford and USC." -VQ
• AR TE Will Gragg: One of the top performers from the combine was Pine Bluff, Ark., tight end Will Gragg and he's been in touch with tight ends coach Mark Elder. "I started talking to him this summer. After I got some offers he took the time out to call me and my parents," Gragg said. "We talk probably twice or three times a week." "I have a good vibe with him," Gragg explained. "They have 33 commitments for the 2014 class so they're obviously doing good work. He's just telling me about how they utilize tight ends and how they did with Travis Kelce." "I went up there when I was younger because my cousin, Bret Smith, used to play football up there with Robert Meachem," Gragg explained. Right now Arkansas, Ole Miss and Alabama are sticking out the most to the four-star tight end but Gragg added the Vols could easily get in that mix. "Just give me an offer," Gragg said laughing. "If they offer they would definitely be up there." Gragg said he hopes to hit the road this spring and summer and wants to see Tennessee, FSU and LSU among those schools that have offered." -VQ
• DC DE Darius Fullwood: "Maryland defensive lineman Darius Fullwood has a current top five of Penn State, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Kentucky and NC State but that hasn't slowed down Tennessee. Fullwood admitted that top five is open for change and is taking a look at the Vols. "I have not been down there to the campus but I really want to get down there to the campus," Fullwood said. "A couple of my friends have already been down to the campus already and they said they loved the campus and they loved the facilities." Fullwood said he watched the Vols play several times this season and believes the Vols are close to a contender again in the SEC. "I think from watching them they are just a player or two away from winning the close games this season but they just couldn't pull it off in the fourth quarter," Fullwood said. "I think with a few more players they'll be competing in the SEC." Along with the teams that have offered already, Fullwood hopes to see Tennessee and Michigan State this spring." -VQ
• GA DE Anree Saint-Amour: "I wanted to just come out here and perform well and see how I could do against some of the better guys," Saint-Amour told VolQuest.com. "This was a good opportunity to see how I stacked up." "I want to get bigger, stronger, pretty much everything," said the 6-foot-2, 215-pounder. "It's a lot (of confidence after the classic)." "I've talked with coach Gillespie and some of their other coaches," Saint-Amour said. "They've just told me they like me and would like me to come up to campus." "I've heard a lot of good things about them, nice facilities and a lot of guys are talking about them," he said. "Yeah, I'd like to get up there." -VQ
• GA CB Jaye Stackhouse: “I really enjoyed it,” said Stackhouse, who’s ranked the nation’s No. 56 cornerback for the 2015 class in the 247Sports Composite, which equally weighs prospect rankings and ratings from major recruiting media outlets. “I met all the coaches. (Running backs) coach (Robert) Gillespie, we kind of hit it off right from the start. I thought he was a real cool guy. “Tennessee had gradually been growing on me, and Dante Sawyer, he’s now committed to South Carolina, but I just asked him if we wanted to go and we just took a trip up there. It was great.” “I mean, the fans are loud there,” he said. “They’ve got fans like no other. I like the campus. I mean, it’s downtown Knoxville, but it’s still kind of mellow, so I liked it. And then the fans, some of them just knew me by name. I thought it was kind of cool. That was nice.” “I’d like to find a place where the coaching staff can be like family,” he said. “If I’m going to go far from home, then I’d probably go really far — not just somewhere that’s in between. I’ll either stay probably remotely close or go really far. There’s really no telling. I keep my variety pretty wide.” -247
• UT offers GA DT Jonathan Ledbetter
• GA DE Russell UDE: “i talk to coach azzanni about every week. I call and talk to coach stripling every week, too, and coach jones every once in a while[.] they like me a lot. They were waiting on my junior film, and that just came out in either early (december) or late (november), so that (offer) could be coming any time now.” “it was a good experience,” he said. “i got to go and work with the coaches. The facilities are amazing. The weight room is second to none. It’s a really nice campus. Knoxville, i didn’t get to go and look around too much at the actual city, but the campus itself was pretty nice.” “i really took away (from the tennessee-florida game) that they’ve got a lot of size, and with the recruiting class that they’re bringing in, too, you can see that they’re gearing toward getting bigger guys. That’s at least what i took away,” he said. “they’re competing at a pretty high level. They’re on their way to coming into that top level in the sec. I know (tennessee offensive line commitment) orlando brown — not too well, but i know him — and i know of (vols linebacker commitment) kevin mouhon, since he plays for norcross (high school). I know they’re putting together a real good class.” “i’m still wide open,” ude said. “i’m not trying to go narrow anything down, because i’m waiting on a couple offers right now. Once those come in, that’s when i’m going to start really going and narrowing things down toward the spring and the summer, see who comes out of the woodwork, take some more visits, just because i didn’t get to as many places as i wanted to (this season). - 247
• GA OL Nick Polino (no offer): “(Vols offensive line) coach (Don) Mahoney stays in contact with me a lot[.] “He’s a really good guy. I mean, I love the campus up there. I love the school. I didn’t go up with my parents the first time, and I wanted them to be able to experience the atmosphere up there, so the second time I went up, I brought my dad. And it turned out the Vanderbilt game was a great game. I got to see two great games up there.” “We’ll talk, and he’ll say he’s been thinking about me and they want to get me back up on campus. He wants to know how my family doing, how I’m doing. He’s just keeping in touch,” said Polino, who added that “everybody’s recruiting me for guard. When I went up there for the first time — the South Carolina game — I got called into coach (Butch) Jones’ office. He was just telling me how excited they were about me coming to visit and stuff.” “My offensive line coach when I was younger was a Tennessee tight end back in the day, David Horne,” Polino said. “He always talked to me about Tennessee, and when I finally got the chance to go up there, I got to see what he was always talking about — just the people, the atmosphere. The Vol Nation is ridiculous.” - 247
• WI DT Kahlil McKenzie: “Yeah, I grew up hearing a lot about the Vols from my dad, so I’ve always kept a close eye on them since I can really remember,” McKenzie said. “I always heard stories of games they played in, the tradition and all of that. I love those stories.” “I was very excited to hear (Tennessee) offered me,” McKenzie told InsideTennessee. “That was a really cool moment. I like the idea of living, going to and playing at the place my dad played – I really like that. I really like Tennessee.” “I really want to go to a place where fans really care about the team,” McKenzie told IT. “And I know I can find that in Knoxville for sure.” “They didn’t have the year they wanted this year, I really do think it’s only going to keep getting better. I watched a couple games. I really liked the way they competed in a lot of games. They really showed heart, which was good to see. They were in a lot of games,” McKenzie told IT. “They’re just saying that their future looks bright – and it really does with all those recruits they have coming in. They have a lot of good guys coming in and I really like what coach (Butch) Jones has done and says and all that, so, it’s one of the teams I follow in college football. Well, I always have.” -scout
• FL DE Scott Patchan: “Tennessee’s a great school. They have a great legacy,” "They’ve produced many great talents, one of the most famous ones being the great quarterback, Peyton Manning. I mean, you look at what he’s doing in the NFL, and he’s had a very successful career. He’s one of the great legacies of the game. He’s a household name, and maybe that’s one day what my name could be like. I’ve seen pictures of Tennessee’s stadium, and it’s a really good stadium, really beautiful. ... I’m going to get there for sure.” Patchan said he has been in communication with Gillespie over the past few months. “I keep in contact with him via Twitter. I’ve been able to speak with him a little bit, and he liked my film enough to offer me,” Patchan said. “They run a 4-3 (defense), is what he told me, so they’d probably just stick me at the weakside defensive end (position), due to my weight right now. “But I have another year of high school still, my senior year, and he wants to see how everything plays out — possibly move me to strongside defensive end or, if I get quicker and faster, maybe an outside-linebacker position.” “I just don’t have any favorites at this time,” he said. “As springtime rolls around is when I’m going to start to narrow it down.” “My things that I’m looking for in a school are a great relationship with the head coach, a great relationship with my position coach — who I want to have very good credentials, and someone I can see myself in a relationship with for four years, because they’re going to be my go-to person to help me get better as a player,” he said. And then, along with that, I want a great chance to compete and good academics, because school is a big thing for me.” - 247

2016 Recruiting:
• TN ATH Gabe Angel: Fortenberry has a video interview with Angel up on VQ. Angel said he measured in 6'2.5 and 213lbs. Said he's played mostly RB growing up but he's projected at TE/HB in college so that's what he's focusing on now and where he'll play this week. Talked about how he works out at IFM in Nashville and really likes the competition level there. He spoke highly of UT, said coach Elder is his main recruiter and they talk a lot. He plans to come up soon for a basketball game at UT. He said he really likes the coaching staff at UT, said he likes the way Butch and the staff run things. He said he'll probably check out a Vandy basketball game soon too and doesn't have any spring visits planned yet. - Summarized by Ron Swanson
• OH QB Messiah DeWeaver: "top 3: Michigan, louisville, tennessee favorites: Michigan/tennessee - michigan. "they're interesting right now. I like michigan. I like everything that's been going on over there. I like how they produce their quarterbacks. I have a real good relationship with the coaches over there." tennessee "my recruiting coach, coach elder, i have a real good relationship with him. Nice facilities, and i like the sec type environment and the warm climate." also high on his offer from louisville. "building a good relationship with my recruiter coach watson and they're producing great quarterbacks like teddy bridgewater." -247

Other Notes:
• If Franklin leaves, does Smith or Sawyers come into play? "I think Emmanuel would be the first guy they called. They would call Sawyers as well, but I think he's pretty solid. I think Smith would listen if something were to happen." -Fort

Big-time LOL at Vic's comment about making sure he can catch the ball. Clearly, he was paying attention this season.

"Wolf, Helm, Thomas, Payne, Moseley, Pearson, Johnson and Mixon are either here or should be here by the end of the night. The other six should trickle in by the middle to end of the week." - Fortenberry

Is this Cory Thomas? I didn't think he was an EE.

How serious are Orlando Brown's grade issues? This is the first I've heard of this.

I motion that POA be given a special dispensation to exceed the 60k word limit. Will someone else in the room second that?

On another note, Mosley sounds like he'll be a riot!

Yeah this is great stuff. Exactly what I search for in every thread.

Also your avatar of Riley Ferguson is so fresh. It got me thinking about him and I went back and watched his senior year highlight reel again. He looks so smooth and quick and seems to have excellent instincts. And supposedly he played most of his senior year with a broken thumb. I'll support whoever gets the start at QB next year. But I'm pulling for Riley. He reminds me of Aaron Murray except that he doesn't seem near as lame. Here's the video if anybody wants to rewatch.

As always. . Great job POA!

I read that Deandre Thompkins reaffirmed his commitment to Penn state three days ago. Anyone know if thread info was prior to that??

Also, I really like McKenzie. . He looks lightning fast.

Sounds like Andrew Williams has been hearing a lot from current commits. . Hopefully we steal him away bc our dline is paper thin right now.
