- "Auburn also offered Chris Weatherd on Tuesday as Gus Malzahn stopped by Trinity Valley Community College. Auburn isn't the only school continuing to recruit Weatherd as Texas A&M plans to see him at some point and may have someone at his bowl game on Saturday. Also USC tried to get into the picture before Ed Orgeron resigned and don't be surprised if Orgeron makes a run at Weatherd wherever he pops up at next. Weatherd told Volquest.com he doesn't plan on taking any more visits and that he is solid and continues to believe in Butch Jones and his staff. Interestingly enough, Jones called Weatherd just to check on him tonight and Weatherd informed him of the offer while informing him he had nothing to worry about. While several staffs from several schools will plan to be at Weatherd's game on Saturday, Tennessee defensive coordinator John Jancek is expected on hand to take in the big game for Weatherd. We'll have a full update on Weatherd later this week." -Fortenberry
- "Tennessee coaches were on the road once again on Tuesday and that included head coach Butch Jones who was in and around Nashville once again checking in on some 2015 prospects before heading to Hendersonville to see five-star running back commitment Jalen Hurd. Hurd's shoulder continues to heal on pace for him to be apart of spring practice and that's a good sign for Hurd as he will certainly be pushing to earn a lot of meaningful snaps for the Vols come March when spring practice opens." - Fortenberry
- "Elsewhere on the junior college front, Tennessee's top junior college players continue to be recruited by Auburn. DaVonte Lambert maintains he is solid with the Vols even after his visit to Auburn over the weekend and Tennessee coaches will see him tomorrow at some point. Lambert again told Volquest.com on Tuesday night he is solid and has no plans to give Auburn a look. Butch Jones will save his in-home visit until next week with Lambert." - Fortenberry
- "Mark Elder met with Daniel Helm who will take his official visit on Dec. 13 and will then enroll at Tennessee after playing in the Offense-Defense Bowl." - Fortenberry
- Jakob Johnson Rated 3* 73 on ESPN.
- Jakob Johnson Growing up in Germany I dreamed of the Florida Gators, Johnson said. It was hard to watch games there because you had to get streams of the games and or watch on different sites but we did get to play NCAA football and I played with the Florida Gators.
- Emmanuel Moseley bumped from a 2* 5.3 to 3* 5.5 on Rivals
- Florida is a nice place, but I picture myself as a Vol right now, said Johnson, whos ranked the nations No. 19 inside linebacker in the 2014 class by 247Sports. I mean, I absolutely love everything about it. As of right now, Ive got to say I love Tennessee. Its hard to beat that atmosphere in Neyland Stadium and everything. I dont think much can compare to that. said he talked with Vols linebackers coach Tommy Thigpen on Sunday and assured him that he remains firmly committed to Tennessee. I told him I was just taking (the trip to Florida) as a visit, Johnson said. I dont think he has to be worried. He was just checking on me and asking me what Im doing, how my (Thanksgiving) went. I didnt talk to the coaches (at Florida). One of my coaches got in contact with one of the coaches he knows on the staff and told them that he would bring me down there for a game, and they gave him some tickets those recruiting game passes so I got a chance just to pretty much watch the game. I think the coaches told him that theyre probably going to take a look at my stuff a little bit, but I didnt really get a chance to talk to the coaches, so it was nothing serious. If one of those bigger schools would talk to me, I would probably take a look at it just to see something different. But I mean, I really like Tennessee, and I feel like Im pretty much sold, said Johnson, whos planning to enroll at Tennessee in January. Im ready for next year.
- Jerome Dews bumped up to a 5.5 3* on Rivals
- "Willie Martinez was in North Carolina Wednesday night checking in on cornerback commitment Emmanuel Moseley who is set to enroll early next month. But, before Moseley enrolls he will have a chance to see his ranking climb as he will play in the North Carolina/South Carolina Shrine Bowl as well as the Offense-Defense Bowl in Orlando in January." - Fortenberry
- "a source indicated to our auburn site that lambert had flipped to auburn. It sounds like that hasn't happened yet, obviously, based on lambert's tweet and his text to 247sports' kipp adams. The source who talked with our auburn site might have jumped the gun on suggesting lambert has flipped, but i would say, based on the source even passing that along with auburn undercover, there's clearly some interest from lambert." - 247
- "Lambert has continued to tell us that he's solid to Tennessee. Obviously that hasn't stopped Auburn from recruiting him but right now he's given us no reason to believe he plans on switching and in his conversations with Austin he's been pretty adamant he's a Vol, much like his tweets. Tennessee was scheduled to see him today so hopefully we can catch up with him tomorrow for a full update."- Fortenberry
- Cortez McDowell, Daniel Helm and Emmanuel Moseley were selected to play in the Offense-Defense All American Bowl
- "Wednesday was a huge day for Tennessee as the Vols were the talk of the recruiting world nabbing 5-star, instate wide receiver Josh Malone. A lot of work went into securing Malone's commitment since Butch Jones took over as head coach almost a year ago and that included all the way up until the last few days. Clemson had the lead coming out of his visit and Malone even told some close to him he didn't think anything could change his mind but the Vols continue to chop away and after Malone met with Jones and Tommy Thigpen last Friday Tennessee took the lead for good. After Jones and Thigpen left the house that afternoon Malone and his family created a pros and cons list and Tennessee had the most pros for him. Monday there was more confidence from Malone that Tennessee was the spot and Tuesday night the family convened one last time to make sure everything was good and Tennessee was the choice on Wednesday." - Fortenberry
- From Butch after hearing about the AU offer for Weatherd "He just told me, 'You're blowing up, but you're not leaving me, right?'" Weatherd explained. "And I told him no." "Most definitely still good," Weatherd said. "Honestly, whenever I look at Tennessee it's just that I feel comfortable whenever I'm there and that I don't have anything to worry about. I feel like I'll be taken care of better than any other place. I really don't think there's anything at all," Weatherd said. "I don't think there's anything a school can do to change my mind." "I keep in touch with a lot of people like Vic (Wharton), Rashaan (Gaulden), (Dimarya) Mixon, who I didn't know was in Texas until a couple of weeks ago," Weatherd said. "We're just establishing a relationship before we even get to play with each other and that's great deal." Weatherd expects Tennessee defensive coordinator John Jancek to take in his game and he's excited to see his future coach on Saturday. "I'm really pumped for that. I'm going to have to show out," Weatherd added."-VQ
- Webb's Todd Kelly named Offensive MVP of the DII-A BlueCross Bowl. Finished 248 yards, 3 TD's on 19 carries for avg of 13.1 yards per carry
- Im not sure (whether I will visit any other schools). I dont think so, though maybe, said Barnett. - 247
- "Earlier in the week John Jancek spent Monday in Jacksonville, Fla., and saw linebacker commitment Jakob Johnson. Johnson was at the Florida-FSU game in Gainesville last weekend while the Gators were blown out Johnson was still impressed with the program. Now, Florida hasn't offered and it doesn't look like fellow Sunshine State heavyweight FSU has room to offer the German native, but the Florida situation does bear watching. Johnson only has two possible remaining official visit weekends remaining before he returns to Germany and if the Gators were to offer and push for Johnson Tennessee could be in a dog fight. Right now, it doesn't look as thought the Gators will offer, but as we all know in recruiting things tend to change rather quickly at times. Also remember that Johnson is not a lifelong Florida resident and didn't grow up a fan of any school." - VQ

- Jaylond Woods highlights 2014 Season
- "My emotions are very high. Everything that we've wanted to do is right in front of us," said the 6-foot-3, 275-pound Lambert. "Knowing I got one more game till I'm at UT, I've just been trying to grind real hard with my teammates. We're very focused coming into this game. Knowing there's only one game left, we have to go hard. We're going to make this game a very good game. "It's been a big focus to me knowing that at the next school I'll be playing in a five technique and getting to the QB is a big task," Lambert said. "(Tennessee's coaches') message to me is to make sure things are handled at GMC first so you can take care of business up here at UT." "My grandmother is very proud of me and she always tells me before I step on the field, pray first," said Lambert, who will have several family members in Mississippi for the NJCAA title bout. Having seen his future school, Tennessee, add another big-time talent this week with the commitment of five-star wideout Josh Malone, Lambert said it's exciting to see the class the Vols are assembling. "I'm very excited because knowing you're around talent only makes yourself better, and then the team will be at its peak," Lambert said. "And then, no one will stop us." - VQ
- Im still hearing from a few schools not a lot, but theres still some schools recruiting me[.] I aint going to name them, but theres a few schools. It feels good (to be committed to Tennessee). I can just focus on getting ready to play ball at Tennessee. Its a great feeling. I still feel like its the right decision. I dont regret it. ... Right now, Im committed to Tennessee. I mean, I know they struggled a little bit (this season), but they beat South Carolina and they finished strong this year, beating Kentucky. I just know (Jones is) changing that program around. Its just neat to be a part of something like that, Barnett said. Im really pumped about our class. Theres a bunch of good football players. - Barnett per 247
- "Bryant is right on the cusp of getting a 4-star. His senior year tape is very good. He fills gaps and attacks downhill. Great size and frame. I'm looking forward to seeing him in person at the Alabama-Mississippi All Star Game next week. A good week of practice and a solid game could help him earn a bump up. " - Kynon Codrington, Rivals
- " There have been some who suggested Gallatin (Tenn.) Station Camp five-star receiver Josh Malone decided on Tennessee months ago and was stringing along outsiders to build drama for last Wednesday's announcement. Just to close the book there, but that could not have been further from the case. Malone, in fact, was telling people close to him several days after his Clemson official visit the week earlier that he would be going to Clemson. Then Tennessee's staff swooped in with its 12-vehicle caravan complete with police escort, followed by Malone's now-infamous trip to Kansas City. Both staffs had their final in-homes, and the decision reversed." - Clemson Rivals

- Coleman Thomas Highlights: Senior Highlights
- Joe Henderson: i kind of cut off receiving offers and interest from other schools when i committed, said henderson, who recorded a school-record 18 sacks this season. i made a commitment to tennessee, and i kept that with them. Thats what i told coach jones, and im still sticking with that commitment. This is it for me. - 247
- "Tennessee made it clear to Medley today that he will have every opportunity to win any of the three if not all the three kicking jobs when he arrives this summer." - Hubbs
- "I saw a few new things in the weight room this weekend," Wolf said. "But I've pretty much seen everything there. It was just fun hanging out with everyone and it was my last hurrah to my recruitment. "It was my first time meeting guys like Cortez McDowell and just to continue establishing relationships with everyone in the program from coaches, to support staff guys, to players and recruits." "The coaches have told me to be ready because with some injuries and where they are at tight end I will get a lot of reps this spring which is why I'm graduating early. It's really exciting to think about and to know it all starts the first weekend in January when I move in. "I dropped some weight during the season. Right now, I'm 242 pounds and the coaches told me that the want me to add some lean good muscle and get to 250 pounds." "I have been doing some speed training three days a week and have been in the weight room 3 days a week since my season ended a few weeks back," Wolf said. "On the 16th (of December) I'm starting on Coach (Dave) Lawson's workout and will do it till I arrive in January and we begin winter workouts." - VQ
- A 247 article says that Joe Henderson will begin his career with the Vols on January 6th as an early enrollee.
- "Tennessee will host three official visitors this coming weekend with all three being commitments and expected mid-term enrollees. Tight end Daniel Helm, athlete Neiko Creamer and defensive back D'Andre Payne are all expected to be in town." - VQ
- "Jones will also see defensive lineman Davonte Lambert later in the week, who's made it clear to Volquest that he's solid to Tennessee." - VQ
- "Henderson has been trying to be an early enrollee. It's still not for sure a done deal as he finishes up some academic work. Jones has publicly said 14 except at the qb club where he said 14-16. The key is the number number of guys who are out of eligibility who were on their list of scholarship players last August. That's where the 14 has come from. A guy leaving in the middle of the season such as Vincent Dallas doesn't help you with this number. It's going to be interesting to see who the mid-term enrollees end up being." - VQ
QB Recruiting:
- UT offered TN QB Will Bradshaw a preferred walk on spot.
RB Recruiting:
- Dylanvol posted on VQ that according to Ryan Bartow of 247 UT has pulled even for Derrell Scott.
- "Running backs coach Robert Gillespie was in Florida Monday checking on several prospects including D.J. Law. Law continues to be a serious grade concern and as we get closer to the end to the fall semester his grade situation should become much clear in the near future as some are beginning to wonder how realistic it is that Law will qualify." - Hubbs
- "Later this week look for Gillespie to visit with 4-star running back Darrel Williams in Louisiana as the Vols continue to try and find a third running back to go in this class along with Jalen Hurd and Treyvon Paulk. Williams could end up officially visiting as early as this weekend, but with Williams holding an LSU offer and the Tigers receiving Williams last official visit in late January it's hard to imagine LSU not getting the talented athlete that's in their own backyard." - Hubbs
- "So where does Tennessee go from there at running back? One name that caused some head turning in the General's Quarters on Monday evening was North Carolina 4-star running back Derrell Scott. Scott was once thought of as a South Carolina lock but we've been told Tennessee is making a big push for Scott and are very much alive and in the race for the talented ball carrier. With that being said, South Carolina has long been the team to beat and it still seems like that's the situation as of right now. Scott has talked about announcing before the end of the year but there's no firm announcement date as of right now." - Hubbs
- From LSU Tiger's 247 site: "Tennessee RB coach Robert Gillespie made an in-home visit with Darrell Williams tonight and the Vols have the upper hand in a pretty big way now. Our source who was there said Gillespie drove home the fact about Darrell being their top priority at RB and dad was on board. We will see what happens when he visits and how/if LSU counters."
- Darrel Williams decommits from ASU
- Rivals on Darrel Williams, "His next visit is going to be Tennessee," Coach Galmore said. "I won't know for sure until tonight because if the family can free up some things they are going to take it tomorrow. If not it will be on (January) 24th." Due to family reasons, he will not be able to take an official visit December 13. There is also a possibility that he takes an official visit to Florida. Williams does not plan to make a decision until he takes his final official visit.
- Jason Howell of Rivals says we shouldnt be worried about LSU getting Darrel Williams
- "Jason Howell, our analyst for the Louisiana area that's been on top if the Darrel Williams recruitment, just called to let me know the family just told him they won't be able to make it to Knoxville this weekend and they will take their official visit the weekend of Jan. 24." - Fortenberry
- "One other note, Florida will get a visit in January as well. Still, nothing set with LSU as of now but we will see how that plays out over the next eight weeks. One thing is for sure, LSU is not guaranteed a visit at all at this point." - Fortenberry
- "UPDATE Dec. 8 - It's looking more and more like a two team race for Scott and Tennessee has made up a lot of ground on South Carolina the last several weeks. But, there is still plenty of time left in Scott's recruitment, but this one seems like a tight race moving forward." - VQ
Oline Recruiting:
- Mahoney was in Pennsylvania to see Bookser per VQ.
WR Recruiting:
- "If the Vols get good news on Malone I don't think they will push too hard for Lauderdale considering the numbers." - Fortenberry
- "He could have stayed on as a February signee or possibly a blue shirt depending on numbers so Booth decided he didn't want that option." - Fortenberry
- "Quick note on Dominique Booth, Former commit Dominique Booth did talk with Tennessee coaches tonight (and a bunch of other schools), and he did clarify that Tennessee is not completely out of the picture. We just exchanged texts so I didn't get the gist of their conversation, but my guess would be he is still looking at Tennessee as an option if he does not find a suitable opportunity at a school where he can enroll early." - Josh Helmholdt, Rivals
- Josh Malone commits to Tennessee over Clemson
- Travis Rudolph: tennessee wide receivers coach zach azzanni will conduct an in-home visit on wednesday. tennessee man. Just coach (azzanni) man. Me and him got a real good relationship, rudolph said. since day 1, theyve been recruiting the heck out of me. Trying to get me on the phone at least every two, three days. When i went up there it was just different. I felt a good vibe there and coach (butch) jones. I really think highly of coach jones. Hes a really good coach and has a good vision. florida, tennessee, really all of the schools still visiting me, rudolph said. miami, florida state, auburn and alabama. who is after him the hardest now in this estimation? really i mean all of those coaches are pushing for it now, rudolph said. i feel like theyre pushing for it because they know i want to make my decision at the under armour (game). So really all those programs are pushing the hardest. my game plan is just seeking all my options, rudolph said. seek all of the stuff thats given to me. Seek all of the coaches that are coming to me and talking to me. Seek all that in and pray about it really. Thats the main thing. Have my family pray about it. - 247
- Ryan Callahan of 247 on Brandon Powell, No, I think Tennessee definitely would want him as a slot receiver, just as it was discussing back when he was committed to the Vols. Remember, UT has lost commitments from three of the five receivers it once had on board Kameel Jackson, Eric Lauderdale and Dominique Booth so even after adding Josh Malone, there's probably room for another receiver in this class if the Vols can get the right one."
- "I think Tennessee definitely is still in it for Lauderdale. He really wants to get back to the Southeast, based on everything I've heard, so it might be mostly a UT-Florida battle despite his offers from a few West Coast schools." - 247 (Callahan)
ATH Recruiting:
- Isaiah Mcdaniel was offered a preffered walk on spot.
- Hubbs on Brandon Powell, "They are recruiting him as an athlete. He could play a variety of places. He would like to play running back and Tennessee is looking for a 3rd guy in this class."
- "Zach Azzanni was in South Florida and met with Brandon Powell as Tennessee continues to really push for the Miami commitment who was once committed to Tennessee. It's still considered a long shot for the Vols but Powell has been listening to what the Vols have to say and is at least making the trip back to Knoxville." - Fortenberry
- "Just talked to Brandon Powell as he's heading home from his visit. He's still committed to Miami and when asked where everything was he said that, 'everything is crazy right now, but I'm still committed to Miami.' He said the visit went well and he liked getting to hang out with the other visitors and coaches. He still has his Miami visit this next weekend. This ha just my perception from talking to him, sounded like he had a good time and likes Tennessee, but would be hard to see him not ending up at Miami." - Fortenberry
- "In the beginning it was to just experience traveling and all of that but now it's all coming down to the end and everybody is showing you how much they want you and how much they need you. They hit you up on Twitter and Facebook and they call my dad all the time," Powell said. "That shows you that a school really wants you. That's why I wanted to get to Tennessee because even though I decommitted they have still been contacting my dad so that shows they want me a lot so I had to come up and visit." "I was actually cool with coach Gillespie when he was at West Virginia because he was recruiting me over there so now seeing him here it's the same thing with just some different players," Powell explained. "He was showing me how they would use me in the Tennessee offense." "That's basically what they were saying the whole time, that they have one running back coming back plus Jalen Hurd, who's coming in," Powell offered. "He was just saying they need a game-changer on offense so that's why they're still recruiting me." "Right now, I'm committed to Miami and I'm just trying to get through this next weekend and after this week we'll know." "Just the week is important, with the coaches coming by and they let you know they care about you. That's what's important to me and it shows the school cares about you," Powell said. "They understood that it's coming down to the end, that I have a tough decision to make. I didn't have to tell them much, they already knew what was going on with me," Powell said. - VQ
Dline Recruiting:
- "Finally, as we wrote about in last night's thread, Thigpen visited with Jarran Reed and his family and that visit seems to have gone well. But, the team that a lot of schools are really watching with Reed right now seems to be Alabama as Reed really likes the Crimson Tide and the Tide have turned up their recruiting on the junior college defensive tackle recently." - Hubbs
- Jarran Reed commits to Bama
- Fortenberry on JUCO DT Calvin Heurtelou, "I'm not sure how high he is on Tennessee's board right now, even with Reed committing to Alabama."
- "Tennessee did get some bad news on Wednesday as Alabama landed a commitment from junior college defensive tackle Jarran Reed. If you've been reading these nightly updates this week you knew that Alabama was a bigger player than some were giving them credit and while the timing was surprising the vibe around Reed the last 42 or so hours was very much in favor of Alabama. Now, don't look for the Vols to quit there as it wouldn't be a surprise to see Jones and his staff try and get one more visit with Reed." - Fortenberry
- "Jones spent most of his day in Kansas with commitment Owen Williams as well as South Carolina commitment Abu Lamin. Tennessee continues to pursue Lamin but chances are slim the South Carolina commitment ends up a Vol due to the distance factor from his native Fayetteville, N.C. Columbia is just a little over two hours from his home and Knoxville is around six hours." - Fortenberry
- Charles Mosley's commitment was postponed due to weather, and his family's wishes of being together.
- "Also, don't be surprised if Tennessee doesn't try and make a final run at defensive lineman Jarran Reed who committed last week to Alabama. It would be a longshot at best for the Vols and will be interesting to see if they can get to see him this week." - VQ
DB Recruiting:
- DJ Smith Final 3: South Carolina, Tennessee, and Clemson. Will OV to each in January.
- Adoree Jackson congratulated Malone on his commitment on twitter. Shortly after, Malone was texting Adoree.
2015 Recruiting:
- FL WR Calvin Ridley top 5 of Alabama, Florida State, Miami, Tennessee, and West Virginia (Alphabetical order)
- TN CB Elias Cane commits to Miss St.
- Per 247, Coach Jake visits Cali to see QB Josh Rosen, QB Kyle Kearns and QB Kevin Dillman
- "Gillespie also checked in on 2015 running back Jacques Patrick and a few other underclassmen while in Florida." - Hubbs
- AL RB Nick Gibson - "Gibson favors a pair of SEC schools and likes Mississippi State and Tennessee. He talked of his interest in the Volunteers. "I went to Tennessee during the summer," he said. "I like the facilities, their staff, coaches, players and the academic program." The 6-foot, 193-pound prospect rushed for 2,205 yards this season on 293 carries with 27 touchdowns. He added 25 receptions for 396 yards and three touchdowns." -Andrew Bone
- Vols offer TN QB Matt Williams. Williams was "elated" with the offer.
- UT visits Rico McGraw
- "Speaking of Jancek, the veteran defensive coordinator was in Georgia on Tuesday checking in on some 2015 prospects including one very high on the Vols' list for 2015 Roquan Smith." - Fortenberry
- "Finally, Butch Jones also stopped by Ravenwood yesterday while he was in the Nashville area to check in on 2015 wide receiver Van Jefferson." - Fortenberry
- TN QB Matt Williams: "Man, to be honest I was stuck in awe for a second. 'Butch Jones really just called me?'," Williams said he asked himself. "I just got an offer. And then I told my guy that I work out with, his name is Dana Stewart, and that's when it amped up. After the awe-moment, I threw an extra plate on there and said let's get it. Now I feel like a noodle." "I really do desire to go to UT. I knew Coach Jones was going to call me, but I didn't really know exactly what he was calling me about," Williams said. "I had butterflies in my stomach. I was a little nervous. I was really excited. It was a great experience. And I hope there will probably be many more down the road." "Makes me feel recognized and makes me want to put twice as many hours in. It helps me," Williams said. "I don't know if I'm wording this right, but it helps me recognize myself more. It makes me want to work harder and harder because I'm also on a six-month training program. It's an NFL Combine training program. That's really all I know about (the program) and it killed me." -VQ He will try to attend all of UT's camps and Junior Days.
- UT offers CA WR Equanimeous St. Brown
- UT offers CA QB (Bama Commit) Ricky Town
- "While in Texas look for Jones to stop by the school of quarterback Jarrett Stidham. This past season's was Stidham's first season as a starting quarterback and his season got off somewhat slow before he really picked it up during the second half of the season and the Vols are certainly a team interested in Stidham. And remember, Stidham is a native of Kentucky who visited Tennessee this summer while traveling through the Bluegrass State to see his family so there's a prior relationship as the Vols saw him throw when he was on campus." - Fortenberry
- "Tennessee also checked on top-100 defensive end Keisean Lucier-South of Orange, Calif., who picked up an offer from the Vols in May." - 247
- UT offers VA DL Clelin Ferrell
- Coach Elder visited OH LB Jerome Baker this week per VQ.
- "Tennessee has offered 2015 defensive lineman Sterling Johnson. The 6- foot-4, 265-pounder from Clayton, N.C., shows again how much the Vols are reemphasizing recruiting in the Tar Heel State. The Vols become Johnson's third offer after Clemson and Florida recently offered." - John Brice
- UT has offered WI DT Kahlil McKenzie
- 5* ATH Jaason Lewis mentions that he will announce at the end of February
2016 Recruiting:
- UT offers VA WR Scott Bracey
