Cherry was all over the field making plays, totaling nine tackles, a forced fumble, and sacked the Crusaders’ quarterback to give Frostproof a safety. He also had a rushing touchdown." - Scout

Current Commit News:
  • "Yup, we talked about it tonight and he assured me he's going to be an early enrollee. I was under the assumption he wouldn't know for sure until December but he said everything has checked out and he's good to graduate this December." - Fortenberry on Weatherd
  • Payne being an EE is "up in the air" now per Fortenberry.
  • "He's not playing for Blinn. Some say he was dismissed from the team. Others suggest it's a misunderstanding. Right now, I would lean towards him not being a Vol." - Hubbs on Kameel Jackson
  • Dontavius Blair commits to Tennessee
  • Derek Barnett commits to Tennessee
  • "I think with Paulk's ACL injury that could end up being a possibility." - Fortenberry on the idea of Paulk greyshirting

OLine Recruiting:
  • Dontavius Blair commits to Tennessee
  • "Good player that the Vols have been recruiting hard. I always kind of thought the Vols wanted either Blair or Gennesy, whoever jumped first. But that's been my opinion. Gennesy likes the Vols a good bit." - Hubbs on Avery Gennesy
  • "Several on the board this week asked about offensive lineman Avery Gennesy and the junior college offensive lineman and the vibe is there's some serious interest from both parties as the Vols need more help on the offensive line, even with the Blair commitment, and there is ample amounts of playing time at tackle next year. The two parties continue to talk and while it's not clear how or if he could fit or even want in right now, there definitely some mutual interest right now." - VQ
  • JUCO Chad Mavety told scout he wants to visit "later this month"

RB Recruiting:
  • "Hard to see them not taking three backs now with Paulk's season-ending injury." - Fortenberry
  • "They are very interested in the Jarvis Stewart kid down in Florida that is committed to USF. That's one we're watching as well." - Fortenberry
  • Derrell Scott had a good visit. The atmosphere was great, and the visit helped UT. Talked to CBJ and Coach G the most. Hung out with Kendall Vickers (former teammate). Top 3 of UT, Scar, and NCSt (no order).
  • "There's a juco out in California, Greg Garmon. He played at Iowa for a year and is now just taking classes at a juco and is basically redshirting so he can have three years left. They are looking at him." - Fortenberry
  • "With Tennessee likely needing to take another running back in this class Judd is a guy a lot of people are watching right now. Tennessee has continued to recruit him very hard over the past several weeks. He's not the only back the Vols are looking at at the moment but Tennessee has a good deal of momentum here right now with Judd." - VQ

WR Recruiting:
  • Lauderdale said he will pick from Miami, Washington, Arizona State, and Florida. Still considering UT now.
  • Travis Rudolph said he loved everything about his visit. Loved the atmosphere. Says Azzanni contacts him a lot and says he can see himself being coached by Azzanni. Nobody is out in front. Has 3 more visits to take. Will decide at the Under Armour game.
  • “I was hanging out with Curt Maggitt. He was my host,” Rudolph said. “I mean, we grew up together. Finally getting back in touch with him being on a visit, it was really cool to hang out with him.” Two players from Rudolph’s hometown being at Tennessee won’t be a major “factor” in his college choice, he said, “but it definitely plays a key role in it.” - 247
  • JUCO Lavon Pearson will OV for the USC game with his parents.
  • Josh Malone decision date - "I'm told he will be announcing his decision on Dec. 4 in a ceremony at his high school. It's still Tennessee, Georgia and Clemson in the mix, with Florida State and likely Florida getting visits later in the fall. FSU and Florida are considered long shots because of the distance factor." - Woody Wommack
  • Braxton Berrios commits to Miami. Says UT was #2

DB Recruiting:
  • "DJ Smith didn't make it back up. He could official visit here later down the road I think." - Fortenberry
  • "Quick recruiting note on Adoree Jackson... Don't be surprised if it comes out that Adoree Jackson will be officially visiting Knoxville for the Auburn game. Talked to some close to him and that looks to be the case. LSU, Florida and Oregon probably the other three after his Oklahoma visit this past weekend to round out his five." - Fortenberry
  • Adoree Jackson had a great visit to Oklahoma. Says hes ready to see LSU's defense, and their new spread offense on his visit. Says he likes that UT is close to home and knows he can be an impact player. Has a good relationship with UT coaches and likes how Butch is turning the program around. "It's just the way he is, honestly. He has that demeanor to win and that's what people want," Jackson said. "Now he's doing good things at Tennessee."
  • Rob Lewis said hes been hearing UT has a lot of momentum with Emmanuel Smith. Rob also said, "what will be interesting is to see if Vols end up having room for him if he indeed decides he wants to flip."

LB Recruiting:
  • JUCO Dejon Brown holds a UT offer and will OV to the Vandy game
  • "Chatted with Clifton Garrett tonight about his official visit to Tennessee this weekend. Big key here was that his parents were along, and sounds like dad hit it off with Coach Thigpen. All in all, very good vibe from Clifton coming out of the visit" - Josh H for Rivals in IL

  • "I think Tennessee got back in it with Andrew this weekend with both of his parents making it back up to Tennessee. Now, is it enough to get an official visit and then they still have to pass up Auburn, Clemson and probably GT (where his brother plays) would likely be the next step." - Fortenberry on Andrew Williams
  • “It’s still pretty even,” Hendrix said, “but Tennessee’s kind of out there for me a little bit.”
  • "He was at Vanderbilt's game this past weekend. I think Tennessee has some good momentum here and with the way things are at Vanderbilt right now with so many questions surrounding that program, I think Tennessee's trending in a very good direction with Barnett right now." - Fortenberry
  • “I’m leaning towards Tennessee for one (official) and then with Louisville and Ohio State, it will probably be a tossup between those two. I think it would be between the Notre Dame one and the Kentucky one.” - Matt Elam
  • Fortenberry says the coaches are talking to Matt Elam, but nothing serious seems to be happening.
  • Fortenberry on Jihad Ward - "Tennessee is still talking with him. I think he's a little further down the board just because he's seen as a project. If he had all four years to play I think someone would take a chance ok him because of his size and athleticism but just having two years to play it may not be enough time to develop him."

Chad & Lance play for the same JUCO team. I think we'd be very fortunate if both decided to stick together and come to UT.

Back in June, Adoree had this to say about Illinois and Tennessee:

"Illinois, my hometown favorite, growing up in Illinois. As a young kid that wanted to play it was Dee Brown and Deron WIlliams. I wanted to play basketball at Illinois. The orange and blue… it's close to home. They had some good DBs come out, and I feel like if I go there I can be that next big thing and represent for my home state and just put on for my city."

"To be honest, when I first got my [Tennessee] offer, it was like 'okay it's an SEC school.' I was pumped but I wasn't really thinking about going to Tennessee. But after I got to talk to the coaches and stuff like that I actually started getting interested in the school. Again, it's close to home."

"I knew they're track team was good, but I didn't know there were that good. That was a big thing" (Adoree' Jackson Breaks Down Top 10 List of Schools | CollegeLevelAthletes.com | High School Sports Recruiting Videos, College Recruiting News. #D1Bound Nation).

I believe that these comments were made prior to his unofficial visit to Tennessee. Needless to say, his interest level has gone up significantly since then.

With all this interest, TN should maybe hold future commits until everyone has made their officials. Unless of course we can take 35-40.

Wow. I don't remember us ever having this problem. :pardon:

Thanks, POA. I keep pinching myself when I read these. Can't imagine how in the world Butch and staff are in the mix with so many good players nationally, much less those that have already committed, with what this program and fan base has lived through the past half dozen years or so.

Brick by brick. Wow.

Great work these are by far some of my favorite threads here on volnation. Butch will have it turned around in 2 to 3 years, the staff is killing it on the recruiting trail stocking the cupboard. Good times on the horizon. GBO!!!
