well, lots of good games yesterday.
starting with our game, glad we got the W, it's much better than the alternative, however, as we all probably saw, we still have a long way to go. missed tackles continue to be a plague upon this team. giving up 3rd downs on D continues to be a problem and the special teams, well......they haven't really done anything now have they? that punt return for a -17 yard return was b e a u t i f u l.
offense looked good at times, and the running game got kicked in to gear in the 2nd half. question....is that a funciton of AF wearing them down in the 1st half for the 2nd half surge, or just the plain difference between Coker and AF? i gotta say, i'm just not real impressed with AF and his running thus far. he's had moments, but nothing worth consistent p/t over creer or coker. anyway, in the world of a win is a win...i'll take it and hope for the best in two weeks.
also glad to see a bunch of p/t for some of the young guys last night....Vinson, O neal, Willingham etc.....all got meaningful snaps...hopefully a good sign going in to the off week for GA.
some other stuff...the GA/Bama game was a classic. i admit, i was hoping bama would pull it out in the beginning, but when they started to make the comeback, i realized, i just couldn't stand the thought of back to back comeback wins for NS and the Tide. so in the end, i'm glad GA was able to break some hearts in Tuscaloosa last night. Neither team overly impressed me, but i thought both were solid all the way around. both have good young qb's, and rb's. and though i'm not overly impressed, both will present significant challenges to us in our upcoming games.
KY.....wow. i'm officially impressed. and officially convinced that that offense will be keeping TN fans awake at night on the Friday before that game. check the standings folks...KY and FL tied atop the SEC E heading in to week 5. pigs are flying over Lexington as we speak.
SC/LSU....ballsy move by Miles on the fake fg, and even though it went against him, TOBC had to resepct it just a bit, and also had to respect the sneer on Miles's face as the kicker scored his touchdown. LSU's defense is just really good.
but make no mistake, SC did more agianst them than anyone thus far, and if nothing else, that will be the best defense they play all year. IN the end, the game played out like i thought it would...start slow, hand around and LSU wins by double digits. i expect LSU to win a lot of ball games in similar fashion the rest of the way.
Ole Miss/FL...the big O gets close. i want to rip FL and TN about this game, but the truth is FL selpt walked thru that game. oh, and how many penalties did FL have yesterday? 45? jeez. they better be glad they are THAT Good offensively, because they way they get penalized is what causes a lot of teams to lose ball games. but a win on the road nonetheless. it is disheartening though that a team that lost, fairly bib btw, to Vandy was in a one possession game with the gators, and we got beat by 30. Vandy must be pretty good?
so, minus ULL, i will say that every SEC game left on the schedule is a toss up in my mind. each team we play will present a match up to us that presents a problem for us. oh the season has just started boys and girls.
i was completely wrong about GT. they suck.
clemson and BC are the frontrunners right now in the ACC.
anybody want to tell me about how good Nebraska is again? wow...that was close.
Good win for Cal. exacting some revenge, beat AZ by just a little more than they beat us. 2 down, 1 to go for the bears....
and speaking of that 1...SC looked pretty good last night too.
and don't look now....but Miss. St. is quietly off to a 3-1 start....anyone see that coming?
ok, going to enjoy my first weekend of the NFL ticket....y'all have fun.
