SEC Week 3 bowl projections: Auburn Tigers cling to postseason hopes - SEC Blog- ESPN

Interesting. SEC Country does a compilation of votes as well and they have us to the Outback Bowl against Nebraska. Looks like most national media outlets have cooled off on us in a hurry. Needless to say, this is a huge game this week. A chance to prove everyone wrong or completely lose the faith altogether. Need this in a bad way.

3 games into the season???? Really??? :thud:

We played so horribly bad that people are now hedging their bets in order to save face and not allow us to ruin their credibility.

Makes total sense but it's just sad that Butch has led our team to this place.

Yeah, these projections are essentially meaningless, but it's just something to discuss. We have a plethora of Florida topics. Besides, if we lose this weekend to Florida it might not be far off. This game is the biggest one for TN in the past 5-6 years. Maybe longer.

What has Georgia done to warrant praise?

I have no idea. Have a game handed to them by the refs against UNC? Barely beat an FCS team by 2? Needed 5 turnovers to beat Mizzou by 1?

Obviously that sounds like the number 12 team. Come on now!

Last season we lost 4 games, Okla-homo, O Bama, UFA & Ark. This season, we will only have two losses, so we will go to a good bowl game.

I completely agree. To be fair, they will play Ole Miss on Saturday, and if that OL isn't improved, it may get ugly. Hopefully we can handle business against Florida and it will all sort itself out. But 4 weeks ago, when we were preseason #9, if you had told me we would be undefeated going into Florida, but ranked #14, I would have called you insane. But here we are.

Based on the way we've played thus far, we'd be very lucky to make it to the Belk Bowl. Unless some drastic improvement takes place quickly, this team has 6-6 or 7-5 written all over it.

Have you looked at our schedule? 8 wins are pretty much a given at this point.

You are crazy if you really think that !!!

The way this team is playing, the only wins left that are a likely victory are Kentucky, Vandy, and Tennessee Tech.

South Carolina and Mizzou are not even close to a given, while Florida, Georgia, TX A&M, and Alabama are likely to be losses.

South Carolina? Likely Win. Mizzou? Still in our favor. Florida, Georgia? Toss ups. aTm, Alabama are likely losses(at this point).

In order to reach 6-6 or 7-5, as was stated, we would need to lose 5/6 of our next 9 games, which is far more unreasonable. Unless we drop a game to Kentucky/Vandy/Tennessee Tech, you're saying we lose every other game.

The Belk Bowl, Outback Bowl, Taxslayer (Gator) Bowl, Music City Bowl, Texas Bowl, and Liberty Bowl are all much the same level of selection now as far as SEC bowl tie-ins go. They form a pool of 6 bowls into which the SEC offices decide which 6 SEC teams go to which bowls (based on factors like who the bowls request, where the schools request to go, matchups, distance fanbase would have to travel, and recent bowl game locations played at).

They're assuming there will be a Belk Bowl. With all the uproar over HB2 here including Charlotte losing the ACC Championship game, who knows if that game will occur and where it will be played.
