Week 2 rankings

Some have said that App State is "the best" non-Power 5 school.

The polls don't see it that way.

AP poll shows votes for four G5 schools: #6 Houston, Boise State (50 pts), San Diego State (37 pts), and Navy (2 pts). App State got no votes.

Coaches poll shows votes for ten G5 schools: #7 Houston, Boise State (52 pts), San Diego State (12 pts), Western Kentucky (11 pts), Navy (10 pts), South Florida (5), South Alabama (3), Southern Miss (2), then Toledo and App State with 1 point each.

So clearly, the voters in both polls were not impressed with how we overcame the mighty hurdle of the Best Damn G5 School in the Land in overtime.

p.s. Wonder who voted for App State among the coaches? Butch doesn't have a vote...a friend, maybe?

Houston is clearly better, and maybe Boise State, but I don't see the other teams being any better than App State, but time will tell.

While I think App State is a good team and will be ranked once they beat Miami, we still have the far more superior players and should have had a much, much better performance.

After looking at tape, I don't think we looked that bad. App state was very, very deceptive and to hold them to 13 points with our defensive captain out is something to be proud of. I expect App State's offense to be well regarded this year. There coaches have put in a lot of work and you simply have to tip your cap off to them.

On the other hand our offensive woes mostly lay on one player, Coleman Thomas, who whiffed multiple times in key moments of the game. This led to Dobbs being forced to throw the ball away much quicker than anticipated. I think we will be fine if we simply could take a few running plays out of App State's playbook, give Kamara more touches, and switch around some players on the Line.

They would lose to all 5 of those teams.

Edit: oh I see your point, disregard. Though I'm not ready to say Georgia looked good. It stands to reason that UNC isn't a great team. And as always, UGA had Chubb and that's pretty much it.

Eason had a very good debut including a 51 yd strike and a 90% qbr. Herrien had an awesome TD carry, McKenzie had the 51 yd reception and several others, and a TD. The defense held UNC to 24, which is much lower than their '15 avg of 40+. It wasn't, of course, just Chubb.
