Let's think for a second. Let's assume we're behind
Bama
FSU
Clemson
Ohio State
Michigan
Stanford
And then let's assume Houston jumps us and makes the top ten like they should.
So, there is no chance we are below 8. Now I expect LSU to drop quite a bit, but the question is how far will OU drop? They could drop in front of us or behind us. Let's say they drop behind us.
Number 10 and 11 Notre Dame and Ole Miss are obviously going to fall, so that leaves 12 TCU and 13 Michigan State. Neither of those teams looked great in their openers as well. I don't see how those teams could possibly jump us.
Now Washington did alright, but I don't see how Washington can jump 5 spots by beating a cupcake.
Now UGA might have a bit jump, but I'm not sure if they are going to get into the top ten. I can see them at 11 or 12.
All in all, best case scenario we remain at 9 or even jump to 8. Worst case we bump a few spots to 11 or 12.
Because our game was on prime time, and on the national stage, we are going to get a lot more backlash than TCU or Michigan State despite their poor performance. So because of that, we may fall just based on everyone witnessing our mediocre display.
