Week 18 Coaches Poll Out - Tennessee Still Unranked

RPI is not the true measure of a team, UK's RPI is 12, Zona's is 13. Should they be ranked? Should they be even a 6 seed? No and no.

I think we all understand how these things work. Should a team with an RPI of 65 get the same treatment of a team with an RPI of 5? No, than it must have some value and mean something.

rankings shamkings.....who cares about the rankings...everyone knows tennessee is a very dangerous team, especailly come tournement time when their depth....we don't need the coaches who vote in the rankings to tell people how good tennessee is or isn't because they already know who we are....

RPI - 7
SOS - 4
ESPN projected seed (as of right now) - 5

those numbers speak for themselves.
our RPI is 6 now that So Ill lost.

I say screw everyone that doubts us, circle that wagons and lets get it done in march!!!!!! At least we finally have a coach we can rally around and that goes to war for our university!!!!

It definatly means something, but just because we are 6 in the RPI doesn't mean we should be treated as the 6th best team. I think I misread Sudeep's post. I thought he was complaining about the 5 seed because we were 6 in rpi.

If all they used was RPI, you'd be a 2-seed.
You never know... Bruce Pearl might send his magic pixie back in to subliminally suggest things to the selection committee again this year. "Tennesee has to be a #2 seed" - "Doesn't Tennessee look good as #2" - "You know you want to place Tennessee in the #2 seed." "Do it." "Do it now."

Mmm hmmm. And we all know how well that turned out for you last year.

How about a team with a 22-8 record, an RPI of 41, an SOS of 42, 2nd best record in their conference..... and ranked 12th in the AP, and 14th in the coaches..... Louisville.

I know it doesn't mean much, but stuff like this - with UT not getting respect just gets up my craw.

I am also surprised by this. I do not believe in the conspiracy theory of everyone is against Pearl. I just think that UT is flying underneath the radar, still.

I agree with the under the radar statement a little bit but I do think there's a little more to it than that. I'll just say that I don't think the whole coaches not liking Bruce point of view isn't a stretch by any means.

yeah, there are a few still in the midwest that still hold grudges against him....that's been well documented.

oh well, winning 44 games in the first two years as TN h/c, at some point, he won't be able to be ignored.

alright dude...WINTHROP and WICHITA ST...don't tell me that's fair for a #2 seed...im not complaining but those were just terrible match ups for a #2 seed...winthrop as a #15???? and a second round matchup with the #8 team in the country in the preseason rankings the next year???? you have got to be kidding me....

florida on the other hand got three cup cake opponents on their way to national title...george mason and the first two rounds...but it doesn't take anything away from that they won....

bottom line is tenn got very tough matchups in the tournement last year so it is not a true indicatoin of what bruce pearl and tenn are capable of doing come tourny time

Florida failed to make the Sweet 16 for 5 consecutive tournaments after making the 2000 final. Each time, they were upset in the first weekend. I doubt it will take Pearl that long to reach the second weekend.

It is so hard to do it, it really is.

I say the polls are a joke. Everyone will see when Selection Sunday gets here. Tennessee will be a much higher seeded team than some of the teams that are ranked.
