It's a fair point other than you saying we would average 24 more per game, that's hyperbole at it's finest if you think our offensive numbers or anyone's for that matter would be capable of putting up 49+ per game just solely based on QB play.We could switch quarterbacks with Florida tomorrow and average 24 more points per game. The only difference in the two teams last year was quarterback play imho.
It’s very funny, I agree. Because by stat line and comparative analysis he is practically the definition of “decent”. 7 guys in the league with better qbr yesterday and 2 of them lost. I’ll take average-above average stat line and the win always over record setting performances in an L.Too many here are part of an anti-JG cult, with little connection to reality where he is concerned. Tell them JG completed 61% of his passes, that he had no INTs, no fumbles, and had 281 of UT’s 394 total yards, and all they do is mumble, “If we had a decent QB, blah, blah, blah.”
Played decent. Too many over throws. Played better than most of the SEC qbs. Left a couple points in the field.
But no turnovers. Huge.
2 of the 3 i stated were in the endzone....defend his slant pass that Keyton had to pick off his back hip...he was not accurate on most of his throws even tho catches were made...thats whats frustrating...LOL, not every pass is a TD. This isn’t Tecmo Bowl. Plus, no QB hits every pass. The kid certainly missed some but he still hit over 60% and threw some that were very nice. No one is saying he played great and I’ve said multiple times he had a lot of overthrows and isn’t an accurate QB. Stop trying to make more out of this than it really is though.
The 2 that lost were to the #5 and #2 teams...and neither is a 5th year SR QB....yes we won...It’s very funny, I agree. Yeah, I agree with that. It isn’t just missing open receivers, he doesn’t put the ball where the receiver can keep running or he makes the receiver turn around, there’s usually something. One end zone throw that fell incomplete looked pretty good but the WR slowed down and tried to come back but had he kept running it looked like it might have been good. Regardless, we need better or we need to get a whole lot better at running.2 of the 3 i stated were in the endzone....defend his slant pass that Keyton had to pick off his back hip...he was not accurate on most of his throws even tho catches were made...thats whats frustrating...
He threw a couple of great out passes which he missed last year....so there has been some improvement but not at a competitive level we need..and too many fans are of the everyone gets a trophy type and happy with mediocrity....Yeah, I agree with that. Mond, TAMU 129.20
Wilson, Kentucky 122.63

looks like espn has different numbers, so here's where I got mine.
Probably should give them a link if I'm using their content, right?

Oh ... espn actually has the same numbers if I click on stats, but something completely different in the game summary box score. Weird.
Agree, JG's was average and that's not good for a 5th year senior. He was less than average on 3rd downs where we were an impressive 1/11 converting. His decision making was improved, but thats becuse he had plenty of time. That's about right.
JG has improved, but as a 4th year starter against an average defense, you'd expect that QB to be more consistent.
Should have won 45-21 or something to that tune. Maybe 52. But as SEC Mike tweeted "JG doing his best to keep South Carolina in the game".
1) trask- Florid
2) Costello-MSU
3) Nix- Auburn
4) JG- Vols
5) Jones- Bama
6) corral- ole miss
7) hill-usce
8)mizzu-
9) Mond- A&M
10) brennan- LSU
11) wilson-Kentucky
12) Georgia
13) Arkansas
14) vandy
Let’s see where you guys ranked the QBs
It’s also funny to me how every drive we don’t score is now considered “points we should have had”. Even LSU’s record offense from last year didn’t score on every possession. With that said, the first half offense was abysmal. We have to improve there or we will struggle with the lower half SEC teams and lose to the upper tier handily. We did see improvement in the second half so hopefully we will build from that. All I know is 1-0 with a conference road win is way better than 0-1 with a loss at home to GA State.
Here’s the SEC QB ratings. Not sure where you got your information, but it’s wrong.

we didnt win SC lostExpectations are a funny thing. They can make the good look bad and the bad look good. We went 7-5 in the regular season last year, started the season on the road in conference, we won AND covered the spread but, based on the general tone on VN, you’d think we lost. Expectations.
Ah..thanks
Eh yeah but that's what separates average from elite. Elite qbs don't miss crucial wide open throws, average ones do.I don’t
I think he played a PERFECT game when it came to decision making. The call was thrown to the right person every single time and never in harms way. Sure he missed a few throws but all QBs miss throws in a game

No it's not. Luckily we were 3rd in the SEC last season on some 3rd down matrix so I'm hoping yesterday was just a blip on the bad side, we certainly can't get any worse. We stink in short yardage, I think that could change a little when we get Beckwith back from injury as he's a load on 3rd and short from the wildcat.1 out of 12 on third downs as a team. Drive killers......several on 3rd and 2 or 3 if memory serves. Not a sustainable stat.
