OC Jim Chaney was working exclusively with the OL again during today's open period. Like yesterday, he and OL coach Will Friend split the group into two groups.

OLBs practiced taking on blocks from a stance. We’re joined by LaTrell Bumphus, John Mincey and Darel Middleton. #Vols
#Vols coach Jeremy Pruitt worked exclusively with DL Elijah Simmons and Savion Williams during part of indy today. Stance, explosion and extension on sled.

Once again, Jim Chaney and Will Friend split OL coaching duties during both periods we were out there.
During sled work, both Chaney and Friend were in a foul mood, constantly harping on better effort or technique with a slew of fun four-letter words.
Tennessee continues to alternate the backup quarterbacks and today was Brian Maurer’s day to get the No. 2 reps. Both in work with the tailbacks and routes on air, No. 18 took every snap after starter Jarrett Guarantano.
At linebacker, Daniel Bituli was absent as the senior continues to battle a sore knee. With Bituli gone, Henry To’oto’o and Will Ignont took at first-team reps. Shanon Reid, who appeared to tweak something in his leg but continued to practice, and JJ Peterson were with the 2s. For the second straight day, Latrell Bumphus, Darel Middleton and John Mincey were with Chris Rumph’s OLB unit. When we were leaving the field, though, Middleton joined Aubrey Solomon and Greg Emerson as part of the first-team DL. Also, freshman outside linebacker Roman Harrison was back at practice Wednesday.

We got our first Carlin Fils-aime sighting. He was out there going through drills with the running backs. In helmet and shorts so he is going through the acclimation period.

Baylen Buchanan, who has been sidelined by what Pruitt last week termed a narrowing of the spine, joined the rest of the cornerbacks and was in a helmet and shorts on Wednesday, but he didn't appear to be taking any reps. Keep in mind, too, Buchanan would go through position drills back in the spring typically not wearing a helmet. When Tennessee broke to go into its team periods, he was heading over the side to working with Craig Fitzgerald and the strength coaches.
Defensive lineman Kurott Garland apparently still had at least one day left of the aforementioned acclimation period, because the redshirt freshman was in shells (helmet, shoulder pads and shorts) and worked inside during practice while the Vols were in full pads.
Freshman Aaron Beasley, formerly a safety, again worked with the inside linebackers and was part of the third group (alongside Solon Page) through a tandem read-and-react drill where the linebackers had to trigger on their run keys.

With Daniel Bituli (knee) not participating, Henry To'o To'o and Will Ignont were the first two linebackers up, followed by Shanon Reid and J.J. Peterson.

Defensive linemen Darel Middleton, John Mincey and LaTrell Bumphus again worked with the outside linebackers through a series of pass-rush drills.

Love the intensity Coach P is preaching in first video to these young men. By my count he said "aight" a zillion times and I'm super fine with that.

new T shirt thought...."We're coming back....Aight"
