Wednesday Practice Thread: Charlotte Week

Jeremy Banks remained with the tailbacks today as Tim Jordan and Ty Chandler nurse injuries. Jordan and Chandler, wearing a big brace on his left knee, were both present at practice, going 1-2 in the rep line. Madre London and Carlin Fils-Aime were also among the scholarship tailbacks.

With Austin Pope clearly limited, Latrell Bumphus was getting extra work. Also, Princeton Fant was back with the tight ends today.

Tennessee’s defensive line worked on its rabbits package. Daniel Bituli took the first-team reps at BUCK, but Deandre Johnson and Jordan Allen also saw some work there.

Jauan Jennings was observing practice in shells, but had on tennis shoes and didn’t go through any drills.

With Ty Chandler banged up, Tennessee might turn to other options at KR. One guy getting a look Wednesday was freshman Bryce Thompson.

Ty Chandler, who limped off the field during last week's game at South Carolina in the second half before returning, took very few reps as the running backs caught passes from the quarterbacks and then went through position-specific drills. The sophomore is one of Tennessee's top playmakers, but he's dealing with a knee hyperextension. He was out at practice on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, but has been limited.

Safety Micah Abernathy (ankle) continues to ride a stationary bike during practice and Trevon Flowers (collarbone) was in uniform but a spectator on Wednesday.

Freshman JJ Peterson has been with the scout team this week, leaving Darrell Taylor, Deandre Johnson and Jordan Allen to get most of the reps at outside linebacker on Wednesday as the Vols worked during a scout-team period.

I think if we beat UK he'll have to play, we'll need other helps but he's imo our defensive leader of the future.

Just stop. UAB boatraced them and Middle TN beat them. I know we have struggled but look who we have struggled with. Please tell me one team on their schedule that would compete with WV, UGA, UF, AU, Alabama or SC. My God, people think that SC is some bottom of the barrel FCS team. Sheesh.

With 4 games left it should be time for Peterson to shine. (Crown Jewel of 18). I see he's on the scout team this week. Came in very late out of shape looking like he hadn't picked a weight up or ran a mile in a season or two. Maybe I'm wrong.

He's got a team of the best tudors at his fingertips; something he didn't have in high school.

Also are coaches ride their arses if they miss a class.

Sports management is one of the easier degrees...he might go that route.
