Fast Five: Wednesday practice
https://tennessee.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1703605
GILLESPIE: Hurd has done a great job of doing the little things after practice. He's the last one in the weight room after practice
GILLESPIE: @UTCoachLawson does a great job of teaching these guys how to take care of their bodies from Day 1.
GILLESPIE: we have a tough 3 game stretch. They are all must wins.
AZZANNI: We want to spread the ball around all the time. But I'm never opposed to someone with 65-70 catches in a season.
AZZANNI: Pig needs to continue to be consistent. We have to try to be steady Eddy.
AZZANNI: Marquez has some dings, but he's coming along. It's that time of year
JANCEK: We have players, with defense and special teams reps, that play over 90 snaps. The bye week was huge for us.
JANCEK: There are guys making progress. @Gmoney_7era at nickel is getting quality reps. @ToddKellyJr6 has gotten good reps.
JANCEK: with UK, I see a team that is really improving. Towles does a great job taking the ball and tucks it and gets the first down.
JANCEK: Towles is a great athlete. He's like Dobbs. He can make plays with his feet and his arm.
JANCEK: UK receivers all go up and make plays in the air. Boom Williams is dynamic, as fast a player we will see all season.
JANCEK: The goal is to cause a lot of turnovers and not give up any. We are at zero. It's a telling mark in the game.
BAJAKIAN: We know what's at stake, it gave us an extra spring in our step.
BAJAKIAN: We've had receivers in the past with 100 catches, but when you have depth and competition, it makes the defense key on more guys
BAJAKIAN: You always build week-to-week, but we spent last week on fundamentals.
BAJAKIAN: We know we're going to be judged on our last play. We have to keep pressing.
BAJAKIAN: We've placed an emphasis on tempo all year. To get that many snaps is an illustration of being able to sustain drives.
BAJAKIAN: Jalen Hurd is well-rounded. He's a great running back, but is also great as a receiver and in pass protection.
Patrick Brown:
Hurd, Lane and North were all in non-contact jerseys again today. Trevarris Saulsberry won't play Saturday but did some jogging today.
#Vols D-line coach Steve Stripling on Tennessee essentially relying on three defensive tackles all season: 'We call it a pair and a spare.'
#Vols running backs coach Robert Gillespie said Jalen Hurd 'hasn't hit that freshman wall' because of his recovery routine.
More Gillespie on Hurd: 'We've got a tough 3-game stretch here where they're all must-wins, and he's gonna have to come up big.'
#Vols OC Mike Bajakian on his offense: 'We've had some success this past week, but we can't let our guard down. We need to keep pressing.'
Bajakian on Jalen Hurd being #Vols third-leading receiver: 'We like to have that from the RB position. He definitely possesses that skill.'
Grant Ramey:
Zach Azzanni on Marquez North (shoulder): "He's full-go. He's ready to roll."
Azzanni on Von Pearson: "Getting better and better. I'm pleased. He probably had the best week of practice he's had since he's been here"

Fast Five: Wednesday practice
After a boisterous Tuesday practice, Jones was just as loud Wednesday from the start of the workout, shouting 'Let's go to work!' over the practice-field speakers to kick-start the afternoon.
The Vols worked in shorts and shoulder pads, the same attire as Tuesday's practice, despite the head man's heavy, black overcoat and black adidas gloves protecting him from the temperature drop.
Freshman running back Derrell Scott was in a regular jersey, continuing to practice with the cast on his right hand after a thumb injury suffered in practice late last week. Rashaan Gaulden also continues to go through practice in a regular jersey while still sporting a cast.
The player-staff removed Gaulden's black helmet stripe over the weekend, citing his increased presence as a regular contributor on special teams.
Von Pearson got in some extensive work fielding kicks, with the special teams period open to the media focusing on kickoff return drills. Jones was every bit as maniacal over the special teams period as he always is, with Wednesday's target being freshman Todd Kelly Jr., receiving the brunt of the head coach's attention during the period.

-- Senior quarterback Justin Worley has been back at practice the last two days after undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery to repair a torn labrum. He was dressed in sweats and wore a black sling with a large brace between his elbow and chest. He monitored the quarterbacks while they were taking snaps and has served as an additional coach for that position group.
