How responsible is the government for this wage gap, at least concerning America?
I mean, take away the amount of waste, corruption, and "lost" money that could have been put into how many cities and towns, to establish better schools, schools that were capable of offering the same level of education not void of resources. Imagine every inner city in America with the best public schools imaginable, 99% graduation rates compared to what reality is and has been. How much individual loss in terms of just human capital and opportunity has there been? It's hard to try and quantify that amount of loss.
Imagine local/city and states being able to bring in more companies, maybe, subsidize certain companies in less economically advantaged area's, where better employment and opportunity was afforded a citizenry that found upward mobility, instead of decay and loss of any advantages.
Think about the opportunity loss and cost of American industry that has left domestic manufacturing, that could have been saved by local/city and state governments, let alone federal dollars, that could have made for a much larger, and more productive and financially rewarded middle class.
I'd rather you and the rest of your crowd stop putting your has where they don't belong. If you would leave things alone, you might see some improvement. But you guys can't stopping screwing with things. ACA is a prime example. Regulations are not the answer. But deregulation doesn't feed your meddlesome hunger. You are the one that called this country horrid after a socialist diatribe. Go find a socialist Haven and leave my country alone. Please quote in my post where I said I wanted to leave the US.
I'd rather just change the country I love to make it the best it can be.

People also lost insurance due to the rise in costs FROM aCA. Several million. Several million more went from self funding insurance to needing help.First off, the ACA cut uninsured rates in half though I agree that it wasn't the best.
Democrats shouldn't have caved and took out the public option. Better yet, they should have just provided single payer.
Second, NEVER did I say the country was horrid. I said inequality in the country was horrid. But nice try parsing my words to fit your agenda.
Deregulation? Let me guess you still kneel at the altar of trickle down economics? Makes sense that you call everything you don't like socialism.
You are likely to die off long before me bud so hold off while you can, but the future marches on.

Single payer would have just jacked up costs even worse than they are. Remember ACA WAS the fix. It wasnt a stepping stone until it failed. Now the same people who sold you rattlesnake venom are asking you to give them more power, and more money, on something that doesnt work.

Much more got it than lost it. As far as being THE fix... That comes down to where you stand. If you were a moderate Dem, maybe it was though even most of those backed a public option which was pivotal when that got lost.
For progressives like myself, Single Payer has always been the way to go. It would cut costs per capita, insure all, and end many of the ridiculous breaks pharma gets.
Would it raise costs overall? Probably, but not by as much as many people think. Costs would rise to begin with as people who couldn't afford care before flood the system. But given focus on preventative care instead of reactive, costs would fall over time.
We pay double what other countries do right now without insuring all because we have bought into the far-right diatribe that healthcare is a commodity (meaning that it responds normally to market forces) and not a right.
Tax rates would double. I dont know about you but that would definitely raise my medical costs. Even more than ACA did.Much more got it than lost it. As far as being THE fix... How would the government getting even more in bed with pharma fix anything? Are you that naive? I mean, even more naive than ACA and single payer being a good idea naive?
All single payer does is remove any control you have over your own medical decisions. Hope none of your kids get sick and the Gov says you cant even try to help them. Or you get over weight, smoke, or any other disqualifies in your "universal" coverage. Too far gone on a treatable/curable disease? No help for you. Or we see what happens in Sweden when they just take away your kid because they dont like how you are raising them. Not that you are doing anything wrong, they just dont like it.
Until those other countries start providing free clean water to drink I wont worry too much about our health care and the perceived differences.
This is a thread about people wanting the government to control wealth. So yeah.....
Lol the government wants to control cost on an industry they control? You really are that naive. More problems means more money in their pockets.I'd much rather pay more taxes and not have ridiculous premiums and deductibles. You know, kinda like how every other country has worked things out.
If you make the decision to smoke, you should pay higher penalties. If you, without a genetic condition, get ridiculously obese you should pay more.
But remember how I talked of prevention? We don't focus on that in our current healthcare system. If the government pays for it you better believe Democrats and Republicans are going to want to make sure we prevent those conditions as a cost control measure.
