Wealth gap is at critical mass

The wealth gap is troubling because I'm sure not all of the wealth was obtained through ethical and fair practices. Much of it was inherited. Much of it was gained by exploiting crony relations with governments. That's why I think it is dumb to think the government should be in charge of "fixing it". They only make monopolies of industries worse when the enforce strict regulations. Competition in industries is how you end these wealth gaps. Not government intervention.

Cobb County, for example.

That’s not a tank that’s a Stryker chassis. Hey at least they didn’t equip it with the 30mm Bushmaster chain gun. I do like the flashing blue lights though nice touch. Like anybody needs a signal to get the hell outta the way.

You are giving too much credit to the humans, and not enough credit to the monkeys.

I see ( have seen ) many humans that barely qualify as exceeding the level of wanting more than that cucumber slice in order to live . most didn’t get to where they are just from a run of “ bad luck “ or because the others are eating banana slices . You can only do so much for someone , personal responsibility has to come into the equation somewhere . It’s just a simple fact that if you give everyone equal shares of banana slice ... some folks will sell theirs for two slices of cucumbers and then complain about not having what others have .

Also their study just throws out some really broad numbers. Like how much would be added if women joined the workforce. It doesnt work like that. You dont add workers and increase your economy. It assumes they spend as much as their male counterparts, when if they are married a lot of the major purchases are already taken care of. You would see an increase in luxury spending but I doubt their numbers look at it that deeply.

I also like how the article makes it seem like this is a new problem. It doesnt point out the WHO numbers that show increasing education, healthcare, workforce, clean water. They wrote the article to make it sound like the rich are bleeding the world dry, when that is not the case at all.

Just looking at literacy in my life it has gone from 24% illiterate to less than 14%. You see similar number across all of the categories the article was pointing to. Equality isnt going to hit over night, and we are already going in the right direction.

If you could redistribute all of the wealth equally and it would all end up the same, the rich become rich again and the poor become poor again, then why not go ahead and do it.
By that logic, if you heavily tax the rich, it doesn't really matter - they will just get the money back and remain rich while the poor will remain poor.

Because that same experiment would be repeated by demand of those who run out of other peoples money. It’s pointless.

According to the usual suspects, that’s a tank in much the same way a semi-automatic AR is an assault rifle. In other words, they don’t care about the facts, they only want an emotional, semantic argument.

He's right though. Stagnate wages (adjusting for inflation), exploding costs for basic goods and services, insane amounts of consumer and student debt, militarized police force to keep us all in line, healthcare that can absolutely bankrupt you if you don't have the right coverage, rising ethnic/racial/political division among people, increase in hate crimes, the list goes on and on. It might be cynical, but it is true. And it is only going to get worse.
The article is looking at the world. Not the US. The world's poorest are definitely in a better place than they were.

In essence this is how economies are created. You trade your bananas that you don't like for my cucumbers that I don't like and so on and so forth

I don’t get wealth redistribution . I’ve seen and met a lot of very wealthy people in the jobs I’ve worked over the years and I can’t remember ever thinking I wish we were both sharing his income so it would be better for me . I have said that I’d like to be as wealthy as him or I wish I had the money he does so I could buy this or have that , but never once did I think he needs to make less or have less so I could have more .

Well, I mean signals might be best, Cobb County is in Georgia right?

Good analogy. I guess my semiautomatic duck shot gun is a”weapon of war”. Well it is in New Zealand now... idiots.

Oxfam report: world's 26 richest billionaires own same as total wealth of the 3.8 billion poorest - CNN

26 people have as much wealth as 3.8 billion people have, collectively. Forget the debate of process, communism, tax policy, capitalism, inherited wealth, etc.

With the internet and readily available information, I think we are getting to the point where the 3.6 billion aren't going to be willing to put up with this much longer. The world is heading for an inevitable collision between the haves and the have nots.

Are you going to need me to loan you an AR or something for the coming fight?

This has been the way that the super wealthy redirected criticism of the wealth gap in the past. That it's just jealous people who don't work hard trying to take money from those of us who deserve it and give it to those who don't.

But I maintain that 26 having the same wealth as 3.8 billion neither makes sense nor will be allowed to continue. People aren't buying into the notion anymore that they can join the 26.
Everyone that they listed are self made men and joined the 26, so you are full of crap

Like I said, you are giving humans too much credit while ignoring the monkeys. The monkeys were cool until something new and different was introduced, then they did monkey stuff. I'm not advocating socialism, I'm saying people do the same thing. We aren't any different than the monkeys. Give them some time and the monkeys will start trading stuff, seriously. Some people are born in to "bad luck" as you call it. Yeah, the opportunity is there to advance, but that isn't what usually happens when you start miles behind the line. Personal responsibility is important, but it isn't the only thing that matters. Some folks get the 49-7 Bama treatment; yeah they are playing, but there is no way to catch up.

You dont seem to understand how poor most of the world is. In Vietnam the average monthly salary is 148 bucks...

That's a billionaires fault though right?

I can only imagine the absolute cluster fudge of trying to get governments around the world to “work together” to “solve” this issue. I don’t trust my own to address this, much less the rest of them that have zero interest in what’s best for the US. Fools errand.

Ok crazy Luther, listen....its not your money dude. The riches toys arent your toys. Earn your way man. Easy peasy. If you worked as hard at trying to make more money as you do at coveting others money and whining....you would be one of the 26.
So, you're clueless. I was merely pointing out the inconsistencies in the arguments being made.

That's not a tank dude.. just an apc...for swat..and you need those to protect LEO in places like Cobb county when breaching ghetto trap houses. No one has a tank.
I didn't know what to call them, tank was a stretch, my bad. I still don't think any police department should have them.

Top 25 wealthiest in the world:
The 25 Richest People in the World 2019

Google
Alibaba
FB
Walmart
Micrososft
2 Fashion guy (LVMH (Louis Vitton Moet Hennessey)
alcohol
cosmetics
clothing
casino/hotels
paper and much more with Koch
petroleum
retail
communications

Top 5 richest are because of (5) clothing (lol fashion), (4)warren Buffet, (3)then alcohol and clothing/fashion (LVMH), (2) Microsoft Gates and (1) amazon Bezos.

The customer is responsible for their wealth. The overwhelming majority of this list, all but 3 are because of this list above and the goods/services they provide that people kept going back to time and time again to allow for their growth as companies and individuals.

So, LG, who's to blame for this wealth gap........?

I didn't know what to call them, tank was a stretch, my bad. I still don't think any police department should have them.

We've beat this discussion silly. However, there are times when a police department has need of an armored vehicle.

Having said that to say this, Podunk County Sheriff Department in Backwater, Montana has zero use for one other than "cool toy." And likely never uses it. You want to blame anyone, blame the US Government for ordering too many of the damn things to start with.
