We would have been 5 and 25 with CCM

The guy was a good man. Played by the rules and while the results didn't please the fans, I can't understand why UT fans are so intent on belittling the guy. We ran him off. Isn't it time to let it go and wish him success?

CuonZo bad mouthed Tyndall to players that decided to leave as well as recruits that went elsewhere. A Saint, I think not.

OK, Martin is 18-15. Tyndall is 16-16. Which did the best coaching job?

A better comparison could be Donnie to Donnie.
He waited until the first game of the SECt to start mixing defenses which resulted in shutting down a hot perimeter shooting team.
Would he have won 4 more of the close games, had he been doing that from day one?

If DT is the greatest coach in the world, then who is responsible for recruiting? Funny how I forgot how DT performed this year, I guess I could ask Bruce, oh wait he is still coaching his team. Pretender vs Contender is where we are.

One of the dumbest post I've ever read on this board. You have zero understanding of our current situation if you believe this...

Don't expect this to change. They will be a matchup zone team. I think the big change as we progress will be better understanding of the rotations and also increased pressure and trapping in the half court. The matchup zone is his system and he won't change that. What he will do is recruit to his system and get the players that fit it well. The longer the kids are in our system the better the team defense will be.

I vote to keep Donnie Knoxville as UT head basketball coach and Bruce backup coach if needed. I thought that (Bozo) was a bad dream.

I just want to be a fan of a winning team. We won last year and you guys blast the coach. We lose this year and you guys praise the coach. I know we were short on talent but coaching played a key role in a couple if not a few of those losses, Give it a rest people and look forward to the real season in September. By the way, I think CDT is a better coach than CCM but he is not the next big thing. But, I'm running with him as long as he is wearing the orange as I did with CCM.

There's a better chance of Obama getting a third term as President than Pearl getting a second stint at UT. Get over it already, people.

I have read multiple negative comments about Donnie Knoxville. I just wanted people to think about this. There isn't a shadow of a doubt that our previous coach would have walked out of this season with one of the worst records in TN basketball history. Along the way he would have alienated many many more fans with his completely boring brand of basketball.

I witnessed a team (assembled in a new york minute and glued together with Elmers) with below average talent and virtually non existent shooting ability coached up into a team that preformed above expectations most of the year. There was never a time with the game on the line that CDT didn't have a play called to give us the win. They never lacked the heart but simply couldn't hit the shots when it counted and that had absolutely nothing to do with CDT. We got a coach thats for sure but he needs to have the Jimmys and Joes that can shoot before any judgement is passed.
Totally uncalled for remark, IMO. Some of you just can't let it go, have to keep bring up a subject you and I don't know all the facts about. Yes, I think Coach Tyndall is doing a good job, but not at the cost of insulting a coach that took us to the Sweet 16!

I dont care for Martin that much, but he had some good players coming in and he had Armani and Josh to work with. Don't know how well they would have done. We did lose some games we shouldn't have.

I agree. No way Bruce is back. Doubt he stays long at auburn, but Knoxville isn't in his future. That being said we should have made Byrd our coach instead of Martin last time around anyway. If we have to replace DT, I'd hire him this time despite him being 62. Get this program stable over the next 5 years or so or how ever long Rick decides to coach. Then turn over a stable, successful program to the next guy. We need some stability and success. Byrd would give us that. Still, DT is our coach for the moment and I hope it stays that way. If not, UT is nuts if they don't hand Byrd the keys this time around. He is certain to be solid.

Bruce will end up 15-20. End of discussion.

Martin's recruiting is partially why Donnie didn't have a PG. If we have a sophomore/junior PG, he probably doesn't transfer, and Richardson can play his true position. Maybe Tyndall couldn't keep some guys from transferring, but part of the blame still falls on Martin.

Ok, am I the only vol fan who is tired of seeing threads about Martin and Pearl? I understand people didn't like cuonzo but he served his time here and got us to the sweet sixteen. He should have been better, but he wasn't so just let him go. He went 18-15 with a lot more talent than we had here and we still only had 2 less losses than CAL. Then we have the bring back Pearl gang... Realize this, Bruce Pearl is the root of all issues we have gone through with cuonzo as well as Tyndall this year. What pearl did set as back quite a bit, and we still love him. It wasn't the fact that he had a barbeque it was the fact that he lied about it! We're not bringing him back no matter how bad some fans want, and I'm one of those people who loved pearl too. Just let Cuonzo go and let Brucie go, because we have our own coach. Hopefully Tyndall gets treated fairly by the NCAA, because he doesn't deserve anything worse than what Boehiem got. Tyndall is and will be our coach until he shows he can't be then we'll hire a new coach. Until that time however Cuonzo will still be under achieving at CAL and Bruce will still be building up Auburn, so we might as well stop starting these ridiculous threads about them. When we add Braxton Blackwell and Abdul Ado to already having Romello White next year that will be the start of our great years with Donnie Tyndall.

Yup I'm sure a guy that averaged over 20 wins a year here would have had only 5 wins.

Seems legit.

I can only pray that this will come to pass!

I think that when Thompson and Davis bolted, that they were influenced by their dads or someone else related to them. Cofer may have been encouraged not to show up in the same scenario. jmo

I was all enthused to see what Cuonzo could do with his next team here. However, he chose to not honor his contract. I got the impression that he lacked fortitude.

Hubbs didn't transfer. He is the example of a true VFL! His parents and Josh Richardson's parents deserve our thanks and commendations.

Yes and Hubbs may be our star next year. He's trending in that direction.

Anyone that believes a zo coached team with jahlil okafor and Phil cofer would be worse than what we witnessed this season with cdt needs to be checked for brain damage IMO. I'm proud of how we fought and won some games we shouldn't have. Cdt is a good coach. However, I'm still trying to get back on board after the pearl tenure ended. I've always supported, but pearl was our guy. I liked ccm but he was no pearl. I like cdt, but he is no pearl. I'm not the only one that feels this way unfortunately. IF cdt gets some big talent and IF he can win....just like everyone else I'll start to put my pearls to the side. Go vols!!!
