We Will Be Fine Against Ky

Well I guess you and I were watching two different games. 2nd half kick off fumble was due to a direct helmet hit to the ball. The two picks were due to Cox being under pressure. That is three out of four turn overs where the defense played a major role.

I'm going to assume we were, and even at that, UGA was a yard away from evening up the game. A 2/1 yard advantage, and time adavantage. Can UK win this game? Sure, UT has holes all over the place, but I'm not going to base any relevance on the UGA game. If UT loses this game it will have nothing to do with the UGA game. UK beat LSU the year they won the national championship, did that propel UK to elite status?

Well I'm not basing any relevance on the UGA game either. Never said that I was. I do think you guys will win but it will be close.

The first turnover was a hell of a play on special teams. Moncell Allen put a helmet on the ball on a kickoff return and forced the fumble. The two picks were pretty darn athletic too. Mccord and Maxwell both made outstanding plays. The last turnover was just pretty stupid, but it was more the RB's fault for lining up too close to cox.

First off, I applaud your moxie for showing up here for, what...four years now?...to champion your support of the second worst team in the SEC East. That takes character.

Next. Last year was your team's best chance to beat UT in, oh...say twenty years. We read your posts all week long, then watched UT thump UK...again...and thus preserve the status quo.

Now....this might be your second-best chance in, oh...say twenty-one years. We're reading your posts, again, all week long.

(sigh)...see you next year, McCat. Look at the bright side. Next year, you can start off the week with "If we stay within 30 of the Vols, it's a moral victory".

Go Vols.

I'm in it for the self-pain, really.

I haven't ever predicted a UK win, so I'm not sure which part of your body you're pulling that assertion from. I enjoy the chat with the intelligent posters here and ignore the idiots who can't come up with anything more original than "Kensucky Mildcats."

And to assert that I just show up for the game week isn't true at all. I'm here all the time.

Moral victories are still a loss, and I don't accept them.

Go Cats.

I proposed to my wife, a UK grad, that night after seeing her cheer for UT after the blocked FG in the 72nd OT.

What can I say, I thought it was time.

It's hard to predict Tennessee to win the game either, even though I do believe Tennessee should be favored by a little bit, but we all know that college football is the game of emotion, Kentucky will give Tennessee all they have. Good luck with the game, should be a good one.

Good luck to ya'll VOL FANS this weekend.... I saw where one of ya'll posted that this was our "Super Bowl"... :) That's about what we consider it... We would enjoy winning this game more that beating ECU, Florida State or Clemson again in another bowl game, but... this is the game we look forward to every year.. We've had some close ones lately but our chances this year are even better than the last couple of years.. Both teams are about equal in tallent.. I'm sure some of ya'll watched Randall Cobb grow up at Alcoa.. He's a wonderful kid and a great athlete... I worked with his dad for about 9 years.. He used to be the biggest VOL fan up to the time that Randall Jr signed with UK.... BTW, our road wins at Vandy, Auburn and Georgia don't mean a lot to us. Our season starts this weekend :) Good luck, Vols..... Wildcat Fan in Maryville/Alcoa.. j

Im very concerned about Derrick Locke.
he is as fast as mcluster minus the elusiveness...

with our lack of depth at LB, this could be a long day

we 're gonna need #2 to rack up 150+ yards to keep our D off the field

Brooks, Cats keep knocking down barriers

By Chris Low, ESPN.com

Never mind that he’s 68 years old. Rich Brooks is a former boxer and still likes a good fight. Seven years ago, he took on the fight of his football life when he accepted the head coaching job at Kentucky.

He’s been knocking down barriers ever since, but one of the biggest remains. A bright orange one that has stood in Kentucky’s way for 24 consecutive years now.

The last time Kentucky beat Tennessee was 1984, a span of 24 straight games. It’s the longest active losing streak in the country among teams that play every year. There’s not a single player on Kentucky's team that was alive the last time the Wildcats beat the Vols.

“There are so many streaks that I hear about,” Brooks said. “We’ve changed a lot of them, but some of them remain unchanged. That’s my job to try and get more positive things happening in what used to be a rivalry. “Of late, it really hasn’t been, because they’ve owned it.”

History really hasn’t seemed to faze this Kentucky team. But, then, Brooks and the Wildcats punched history in the face a long time ago.

They’ve won three straight bowl games for the first time in school history.

They’ve had four straight seasons of at least seven wins, which last happened at Kentucky nearly 100 years ago.

They won at Georgia last week for the first time in 32 years. They won at Auburn earlier this season for the first time in 43 years.

They’ve won five of their last six games heading into the Tennessee contest and can clinch their first-ever second-place finish in the SEC East with a win over the Vols.

Depending on what else happens this week, the Wildcats (7-4, 3-4) also have a chance to finish the regular season with more wins than anybody else in the league other than Alabama, Florida, LSU and Ole Miss.

“The knock on us has been that we’re a bottom-feeder in the SEC,” Brooks said. “Finishing second in the SEC East would put us above some teams that we have historically struggled against. It would be a major step forward.”

Here’s the other thing different about this Kentucky team: The Wildcats haven’t crumbled late in the season despite a rash of injuries. They’ve hung in there, and other players have stepped up and played key roles.

That’s another indication of how far this program has come under Brooks. The recruiting has been better, and there’s some genuine depth now, particularly on defense.

Beating Tennessee would probably land Kentucky in the Outback Bowl. But there’s much more at stake this Saturday for the Wildcats than their bowl destination.

Ending Tennessee’s stranglehold in this series would be another barrier gone by the wayside, maybe the biggest yet, for a program that’s enjoying the kind of ride that very few thought possible when that ex-boxer from Oregon arrived seven years ago.

People are putting way too much stock into the UGA win. The dawgs handed that game to the cats on a silver platter. Unless Tennessee decides to turn the ball over 4 or more times, we win going away. Besides, that's the UGA team that we kicked the crap out of this year.

Its the SEC you can loose on any given Saturday.

If Fail Foolmer didn't treat Cobb like trash, Cobb would be in orange.

He's playing at a place where he gets to play, and he's a top player, how much do you think he would have played last year or even this year at UT?

I'm a bit concerned going into the KY game but I sure felt better after 12:30 this afternoon. I sort of wish TN was the underdog going into this one because they play better with the "respect" factor. I think TN wins in a close game.
