We support Jon Crompton

Crompton's worst loss: UCLA
Stephens' worst loss: Wyoming

I'll take Crompton. Thanks, though.

Amen.

Read this somewhere: You are entitled to your own opinion (crompton/stephens), you are not however entitled to your own facts. (see the above fact)

Yeah, he's bad, obviously Stephens is worse, even in practice. Truth is, we have what we have and the coaches are making the best of it. They put is in a position to win both these games even with bad QB play. Imagine what we will do when we get some quality players in those positions.

Well, I certainly agree that Crompton isn't the greatest QB in history, and that his decision making isn't always the best either. I could not, for the life of me, understand throwing the ball out of bounds on 3rd down. I remember his first start against LSU 2 years ago, where I thought he showed signs of greatness, throwing 2 TDs to Robert Meachem....a game we win if the Jamarcus Russell fumble is called properly by the refs, and LSU isn't given the ball back and allowed to go down and score the game winning TD.

And that's just my point....maybe Crompton isn't the best, or the worst. A point that hasn't been made here yet, is that we really don't have a play-making threat at WR for him TO THROW TO. In the LSU game, we had Meachem. Now who do we have?

If you're truly on the Lane Train, then support Crompton. I think I'll take the coaches opinions on the QB issue, rather than reading opinions from us bozos on a message board.
I'll also trust the staff that brought in the 09 recruiting class and the staff that probably spends 40-50 hours/week thinking about how to play the game.

You mean a 3rd down play and a 4th down play? Talk about drive killers...If you're gonna use this argument, you should at least attack the point that we run it on first and second forcing 3rd and longs.
...Hell, a deep pass intercepted and returned for little or nothing is better than giving James the ball to return for 7.

we run on first and second because anything besides a screen thrown from crompton ends up being caught by the other team...

and those 1st and 2nd runs are not getting the 1st downs because teams know we cant throw and stack 8 into the box...

11-19 for 93 yds with 2 picks and 0 TD's. The kid is awful as a QB. End of story. He didn't cost us the game because he wasn't given the chance too like everybody else has already said.

I believe this thinking to be absolutely incorrect. Sorry. He ABSOLUTELY does cost us games because he cannot throw the ball down the field. You have to have a passing game to keep the defense honest. They stack 8 men in the box because they know he is incapable of throwing the ball. This makes us one dimensional, which makes us incapable of hanging in these games. All of this because Crompton's inability to do the key characteristic of a quarterback...THROW THE BALL. Crompton most definately costs us games. Just because he didnt have 8 interceptions doesnt mean he didnt cost us the game. He cost us the game last week, and this week because of his inability to move us down the field.

im sorry but this kind of sh*T pisses me off. he did good and i thought we played good. yeah it would have been great to win but he did what he was asked to do...people need to grown up

how pathetic... you expected to be blown out, so 10point loss is great in your eyes... why dont you go watch a good qb before telling us how good crompton did...

and no, he did not do what he was asked to do, was extremely late on making throws, extremely slow on reacting when plays break down, and just plain awfull to the point we just throw the passing game out the window.

I don't think Crompton played good, but he played as good as anyone on our roster could have played today. Truth is, he is our best option at QB, so let's get behind him!!!!!

yeah... that looks great on paper... except most of those were 5 yard screens

Crompton is a goofball. He had an easy TD pass and he under threw the receiver and allowed UF to get the interception. His scholarship should be revoked and he should be forced to find his own road back to Knoxville. He's a joke.

Are you being serious when you say he did good?!?!?!? Please tell me you are kidding!!! Are you a relative of his?? HE IS TERRIBLE. HE COSTS US THE GAME EVERY WEEK. "He did what he was asked to do"...no shyte! That's the point...we lose games becuase we can't "ask" him to throw the ball downfield and lead us to a touchdown. That is sad that a Div. 1 program is incapable of chunking the ball downfield. HOW IS THAT GOOD?????????????????????????

I must not be getting my point across like I want to. Today, Kiffin did not let Crompton cost us the game because of his inability to throw down field(which I understand what you're saying in that was part of the problem today) because he did not give him that chance like he did last week.

Crompton simply did what he was asked to today. I agree he is awful and definitely cost us the game last week only because he was given the opportunity to throw downfield.

If the same gameplan from this week was applied last week, we win last week running away. That being said, his inability to make smart decisions and his accuracy has/will probably cost us a couple of more this year.

It is what it is. Crompton is our QB, we don't have a better option.
That's an unfounded assumption spoken as a fact. The chances of Stephens being THAT debliltating to every facet of the game are very slim. The chances of ANY QB having THAT much of a debilitating effect is hard for me to fathom. I'd sure be taking the chance at this point

yeah... he is terrible.

11/19, 2 Int... 0 TD, thats 7 Int in 3 Games!!

not to mention he lost us a TD by throwing so damn late on 2nd down when we were on the 4yrd line... 3rd down wasnt his fault, florida had good coverage.

we cant score and our rushing is going to slow down because teams are not going to be afraid to stack 8 defenders in the box, as the 3rd qrt. proved. As long as we have the RB handoff puppet behind the center, our passing game is going nowhere.
Third down was a 15 yd loss of down penalty that didn't get called. He had enough room for AT LEAST three yda. That was a PERFECT example of his mental meltdown capacity

I'm not sure you can pick one of Cromptons game changing performances over another. How about EVERY? CPF had a HUGE hand in that performane against Wy and that was a pitifully sucky CPF team, gameplan, ect. Apples and oranges

You missed my point.
I was attacking the fact that from the beginning of the game, he wasn't allowed to throw the ball.
The first series had 15 plays, but only 1 pass. Sure, the run was working, but they still need to get the vertical game going.
If you don't get a passing game going at the beginning, it'll be tough to get it going later on.
