We still have a shot at playoffs!

Our o-line doesn't have any future NFL players so it'll be a fair fight in the trenches.

Maybe Hurd will finally get to show what he can do with some semblance of run blocking.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold on brother. Did you just say "our o-line doesn't have any future NFL players"??.......you're on record saying, and I quote,......

"Coleman Thomas is one of the truly great football players on this team. I said a few months back that he would be the first center taken when he came out. And I'm sticking to that. Along the offensive line I believe him and Dylan Wiseman will have very long and successful NFL careers".

Look, KB. You can't expect to have a productive, reasonable conversation with D4H if you're going to be a jerk. Quoting his previous posts is hitting below the belt.

Dude, just stop... There will always be D4H quotes you pull out and make him regret, but that doesn't make the level of discourse any more civil nor any more informative.

Haha. Yep. And let's be clear. No one should ever expect to have a productive, reasonable conversation with that cat....nor do I. At this point I'm just trying to expose him to some posters on here who somehow think he has any credibility. That, and just generally throw his hypocritical words back in his face. Trust me, there's much more, just oh so much more to come.

Hoping they will and putting betting on it are two different thing.

Alabama is still a better team fully healthy but we might have a shot at winning.

Lastly, most of injuries occurred against lesser competition, what makes everyone think we will be 100% healthy with 5 games left to play? And we are down two DT regardless.

Our offense, with the line intact and Kamara back, is still enough to give Bama fits. Our defense with Sutton and DK back will be a big boost. Hell, we legit held Bama to 21 points in the first half. Getting those players back and actually having a formidable O-line makes a thousand times better than what happened last weekend. It is Atlanta. Anything can happen.

Why would I? Dobbs has shown tremendous growth this year throwing the ball. If not for a porous o-line and receivers who can't catch, he would be in the heisman race.

He looked like a NFL star that 2nd half against Florida throwing the ball.

Once he gets to the NFL he will blossom into a superstar like Russell Wilson.

Yes I get it, you're doing a typical VN "Bold Prediction". It happens all the time here, people start thread where they "predict" we're going undefeated and winning the NC, that Alabama will suck this year, yada yada yada.

You're doing it just in case it just happens to somehow become true, so you can say "I told you so". But the vast majority of these don't happen and the person who made them never come back to own up to being wrong.

I would ask if you are going to own up to being wrong, but we already know the answer to that.

Haven't seen much of that even when healthy.

That is completely untrue.

When fully healthy we have NFL-caliber players all over the field.

Vols' offensive line is below average and the defensive line w/exception of Barnett is just average. You are not a play off team without dominant line play on both sides of the ball.

Vols are a top 15 team this year and that will continue to be the ceiling until they improve the talent and depth in both lines. For that matter, with the exception of Sutton, the defensive backfield is just average at best.

It's good to have above average skill players but unless you can control the line of scrimmage, you will not challenge for national titles. Tennessee has had those teams, this ain't one of them.

In the list of players mentioned, at this point, only Barnett and Sutton could be considered future starters in the NFL.

Butch threw in the towel at halftime last game.... I truly believe, however unpopular, that he knew we had no chance and he was gonna tank the game and get out as fast as possible.

You guys ripped us when we had line injuries that game. That mixed with vanilla playcalling on offense was a recipe for yall to kill us in the second half. There was no sane coaching reason to run up the middle on 1st/2nd and then run slants to first down line every 3rd down.

If we get to Atlanta with every starter we had being healthy, its definitely much closer game.

Vereen is not average.... He has been all over the place all year... Barnett is just getting all the spotlight (not that I am mad). But our line isn't just a one trick pony.

I would guess it would be as well. But the spots where healthy UT still has problems (OL, OLB, run support from secondary) are areas where they are matching up with Bama's strengths. I think the game is closer, but I don't see UT making up 40 points.

Tennessee's D-line is really good, but Barnett is the only one who is reliable at getting to the QB. He's got 6 of the team's 11 sacks.

Vereen is a good SEC player and I'm glad he's a Vol. There is a reason why Barnett is getting "all the spotlight" over him.

You said that North would be drafted no later than the 4th round and you were dead wrong. You said Taylor was one of the best backs, possibly the best back in the draft....and again, you were dead wrong. He's not in the same stratosphere as Derrick Henry.

Hold up now. I say alot of things but this is definitely not one of them. I consistently said Ezekiel Elliott was the best player in that draft. Never said Kelvin Taylor was better than him.

I do stand by my prediction Kelvin Taylor is better than Derrick Henry. When Kelvin gets his chance he will prove to be much better than Henry. Remember the NFL is a marathon not a sprint.

Bama has one of the best and deepest rosters in the country, and I can only think of 6 guys who I am confident will be consistent starters in the NFL.

Bama's strength is depth. Not top end talent. LSU and even Georgia have produced better top end players in the NFL. Just look at the NFL Network Top 100 Players list. Alabama had only one guy last year (Julio Jones) the same as Tennessee (Eric Berry). While LSU and Georgia led the way with 5-6 players each.

You guys succeed cause you have the best coach and the best depth. Not the best top end talent. I would take Tennessee's top 10 players over Alabama's top 10 players without hesitation.

Tennessee's top 10 players this year vs bammers top 10 players this year?

A one loss Alabama is going, under the scenario OP laid out, my guess Alabama goes to the playoffs.

How in the world do you think Dobbs has NFL star potential? I love the man to death, but he needs to make his money designing spaceships and planes and stuff. I don't see much NFL star potential in Hurd either.

He's got good size for a NFL QB, great arm strength, great athleticism, insane competitiveness, a great mind, and the sort of maturity and leadership you look for. He's also dominates a lot of big games against big time opponents.

IMO the star potential is easy to see.

Tennessee's top 10 players this year vs bammers top 10 players this year?

Yup.

Nobody I want in college football more than:

Josh Dobbs
Jalen Hurd
Alvin Kamara
Jauan Jennings
Josh Malone
Derek Barnett
Shy Tuttle
Jalen Reeves-Maybin
Darrin Kirkland Jr.
Cam Sutton

It isn't the end of year 2 yet.

True.

But if he has so much potential, why is it that none of the 32 teams think he's worthy of a main roster spot? There are 11 teams averaging less than 100 rushing yards per game. Surely one of them would be instantly improved by adding such a talent.
