THE SETUP

In 85 years of UT football after the arrival of Gen. Neyland, only Oklahoma has won more games. [We were tied (623) going into 2010.]

UT (49) is now tied 2nd with Texas all-time in bowl appearances. [Ahead of USC (48 and holding).]

Against Alabama, we've played (92) and won (37 + 8 ties) more games than anyone. [That's right, Auburn.]

We're 9th in all time wins. [Ahead of USC (10th)] [Florida is 23rd.]

UT produced the best and highest paid QB in NFL history. [By the numbers, PManning will hold all the records when he's done.]

We recently fired a Head Coach whose record vs. Alabama was 10-5-1. [Who does that?]

THE ISSUE

Since 2005 (6 seasons) UT's program has been wandering in the wilderness. And from Bristol CT to Gainesville to Columbia to other 1-horse towns, people whose historical contribution to college football is relatively minor, have joined the bandwagon trumpeting UT's demise. And UT's coaching and NCAA issues have added fuel to the blaze.

THANK YOU FOR THE CRITICISM

UT is 42-34 (.552) during this 6-year period. Is this really bad? In Tennessee's historical context, yes.

All-time, UT has a .668 winning percentage. [Alabama is .673; Florida is .613.] By UT's own standards, we're in one of the few long troughs we've suffered since fielding a team in 1891.

UT should be and is embarrassed. [Disregard us at your peril.]

So you frame a discussion about how UT sucks right now, by documenting how good they were before? Wow. That's some real breaking news there. Alert the AP.

Btw, of those 34 losses in the past 6 years, Fulmer accounts for 22 of them. Your question was, who would fire him? With 22 losses in a four year span, probably any other serious college football program.

Fulmer (latter years), Clawson, Hamilton, Kiffin, Orgeron, Jimmy Cheeks, Susan Martin!!!!!!!!!! Who could follow that onslaught?

It's the ones who make the decisions up there that should be embarrassed. Fans show up and cheer the team, provide donations and blind kool aid drinking hope. The fans have nothing to be embarrassed about.

Creed sold alot of records in the 90's. With that argument we should be ashamed that we don't listen to them anymore and blame the current stale state of rock on our dismissal of them as relevant.

We should be embarrassed that we gave Failmer a second chance thinking he could turn it around after he threw up 5-6 with a Top 3 preseason team. He was never again going to have a team with that much talent.

I want to imagine the op sitting in his den just contemplating this thread.

.....and I hope to God that I am never that bored.
