This is dumb imo and short-sighted. This game is an automatic L, everybody knows it. You can try to shorten the game and gameplan accordingly, all that’s good, gameplan it that way and push your guys to compete and get better.
But the season actually starts next week, vs SCar, when Tennessee has a chance to win and gain some momentum for a bowl-game run. Save any other that “surprise stuff” for those meaningful games when you can gain an element of surprise to help you win. It’s all wasted vs Alabama who’s gonna best your brains in anyway imo.

For once I agree with him. I didn’t feel like that was the usual sarcastic I hate Tennessee do the triple reverse HB RPO. I genuinely think he wants to see us throw caution to the wind. If we lose we were suppose to If not they’ve got things to talk about nxt week.

He’s not trying to get anyone fired either, Desmond.

That being said I think the Vols have a Georgia type game. If Maurer plays I think he’ll make enough plays to keep it close late in the 3rd early 4th and some untimely mistakes spread the scoreboard out. In the end the Vols continue to improve and “buy in” to what Pruitt wants overall.

My heart says screw it 21-18 Vols

My head says 41-24

We have healthy players to lose, which we'll need to if we stand any chance in the games we actually have the possibility of winning.

I hate this mindset. If coaching like that worked then it is how every bad team would play against top teams. It also sends your players the message you don’t think they can win playing football like they have been their entire life. Line up and play football like you have been practicing it all year. If the situation calls for an onside kick or going for it on 4th down, then do it.

It did. But that was then, this is now. If we want to win 6 games and get to bowl eligibility (which would be huge for our program - turnaround from beginning of year, extra practices, more game experience, showcasing for recruits, etc.), then we need to be healthy and schematically ready for the endstretch of the season which begins with South Carolina. At this point, going 6-6 and getting to and even possibly winning a bowl game would be HUGE for us going forward into 2020 and beyond.

Let's not show all of our tricks this week, and hopefully avoid injuries as we prepare for the end of the season, which is a much more favorable stretch of games for us.
