It’s too early to say for sure but through 3 games
Brazzell
Heard
Josephs
McCoy

Could all be day 1 guys… true shame that Jermod got hurt, but if we keep winning at a high clip then all these guys have really good chances to go day 1… I’m most pleasantly surprised by 53 he is nasty on game day… violently aggressive and playing with great technique… if Joey keeps balling which I suspect he will, then heard will get a ton of recognition… this is the type of overall talent we need to go compete for a championship..

Someone said the other day and it was posted here that some of these injured guys might be actually dead and we'll never hear from them again. Perhaps it's Schrödinger's Jermod McCoy. We have no way of knowing if he's alive or dead.

I feared this before the season. If he doesn't play a down this season, he gets paid and still goes in the first round. What do you think his agent/advisors are telling him?
I think the same way about injured guys who are eyeballing the portal when it opens again. Grab that redshirt and get paid while doing it. Then you transfer or at least grab an extra year of earning potential in college.

I’m not convinced if a guy sits out an entire season he’d still be a first round pick. Maybe I’m wrong……
Agree...it's never happened and as good as McCoy is, hes not good enough that he can sit an entire year and still go 1st round.

Also, no one in the league is going to spend that kind of draft capital in a guy that hasn't proven hes recovered.

I would like to believe this is true, but head scratching decisions seem common place. Again, I hope you are correct.

A few others could be R1 guys in future drafts. Arion Carter, Edwin Spillman, Colton Hood, Ty Redmond, David Sanders, Mike Matthews, and Caleb Herring come to mind.

Yep!
McShay said Brazzell has #1 WR potential

Something as impressive, I bet Joey gets drafted 5-7 rounds. If that's the case, every Heupel QB at Tennessee will have been drafted

Can someone name the last player who went in the first round sight unseen? If he doesn’t come back, I highly doubt he remains a first round pick.
In general, look at the past decade of Titans picks. Most of those dudes had no reason being first rounders.

An injured Caleb Farley comes to my mind right away. When he was healthy, he wasn't the town of a first rounder.

If you are talking about from Tennessee Vols, I have no idea

Very true - thought about this after I posted...if he's getting information through analysts, agents, etc. that he may be a 2nd round pick even with the injury then he may choose to sit, still get a decent rookie contract, prove himself in the league, and have a nice career.

I mean not exactly the same situation, but Trey Smith went 6th or 7th round and now he's highest paid player at his position in the league making ~20 mill a year.

Didnt Chase & Micah sit out the year before they went in the draft?? I cant remember for sure, but I do remember both being top 12 picks

IDK man, if I'm an NFL GM I want to see that he's the same McCoy before I use a 1st or 2nd rounder on him.

IMO if we've got 2 or fewer losses by Bama then McCoy will be back for that game if he's truly ready. It's risk/reward for him in that game because he'll likely be matched up with Williams, but I think he wants to help this team get back to what will be a wide open CFP.

If I take off my orange colored glasses, McCoy is definitely a 1st rounder. Heard might be late 1st early 2nd. Brazzell has the measurables but he needs to have the production at the end of the year and a great combine showing. Im not sure what JJ's measurables are. If he has short arms and a slow 40 its going to be tough to go 1st round no matter what his numbers are. Just for context, the national sack leader went 2nd round last season and he was the most refined pass rusher in the draft.

True to some degree with everything riding on his performance at the combines, but I think he needs to show some real game play as well this year to get the most lucrative contract.

that is a very unlikely outcome. he showed one season of round 1 potential.. there have been a number of cases like this in the past in the NFL draft most of those guys didnt go first round and many were undrafted. If he'd had a couple years of resume thats a different thing but he just popped on radars.. they will fall in love with someone else well before seasons end. Mccoy needs mroe tape especially as a DB. Its a very volatile position in the draft/scouting one or two bad games could tank their draft stock.
