Every damn year. We are almost always horrible against the gators. Doesn't matter whether we've got a good team or a bad team, whether florida is good or bad...we play like we're wearing pantyhose instead of football uniforms. We were NOT competitive today--period--and mostly because we were BAD and DUMB, not because florida was all that great. When it comes to playing florida, I don't know what it is but we become Vandy--and I might be insulting Vandy.

We let florida score an easy td to start the game--ensuring that, for like the 50th straight year, we are playing from behind. We ALWAYS have more turnovers than florida; our special teams play is ALWAYS bad in this game. We miss an easy FG on our first drive--bad decision by Dooley to begin with; get a punt blocked; and throw an INT on the first play of second half--which leads to an easy fla. TD and game is over. We can't run the ball a lick. I keep hearing about Dooley being a Saban protege--but I don't see it. Saban builds TOUGH football teams--offense and defense--and we simply are not tough.

I can accept getting beat by a more talented team--but I'm damn tired of watching the Vols make it easy for florida to beat us with mistakes, turnovers and soft play.

How is taking points on the first drive a bad decision. Palardy was the best kicker in the nation in HS. He SHOULD hit that all day.

Florida is one of the most talented teams in the nation.

If you are so tired of Tenn then delete your VN Account. and go root for another team.

also doesnt help we have to play them 3rd game of the season every year when coaches know very little about how their teams play and even less about the opposing teams...

I was disappointed today in our toughness also. I believe we were beat from the time we put our panties on this morning.

We are to Florida, what Kentucky is to us... A one sided rivalry. It's always nice to get your hopes up but, in the end, reality sets in. After crashin back to earth, we need to try & get ready for our 6-6 or 7-5 season. Just sayin...

They're Tennessee's unicorn. In fact right now so are few other teams. Middle of the road SEC team and Florida is still ahead.

At least we are getting beat by more talented Florida teams, unlike the Fulmer years, even though I agree we still get psyched out by them even though Phil is gone.

The Florida teams Fulmer played against were top 5 in the country and most of them were more talented than us.

I think some people are letting something slip over their heads here. We have 2 of the most talent rich states in the entire country in our own division and 1 (La.) in our other division. Everyone knows that but it's like they forget it on game week. Sure there are times when the Gators aren't playing 100% , but I doubt there's any coach , team or fanbase that would bet their farm against a UF team against anybody . Georgia suffers from some coaching issues almost every year. If they ever get a brilliant coach in there , look out. Bama has tradition from way back and have been very fortunate to have lured Saban , or they'd likely be right with us. Auburn is/was a flash in the pan and will not likely lure big classes in every year. We had some good teams in the past, but like Yale, Harvard, and ND , the game has passed us by. If we accept these facts , we can be a happy or at least content fan base. Can we have a dominant team again? Absolutely. But it would be a perfect storm of great luck and tireless recruiting pressure. Will we ever be that way year in and out again? I doubt it.

I guess all that the program has been through the last couple of years means absolutely nothing then. The reality is we caught a couple bad breaks early in the game and just got a little bit to far behind the 8 ball. this team is going to be good. now one of the fresh receivers have to step up, but there is hope for the future...all this instant gratification bull S*** gets old. They have to learn before they can do anything you can't just run wild out there without know what you're doing or looking for.

yes, but with less preparation to perfect either sides schemes, the strength, speed, and natural football ability comes through and with the talent FL has it comes down to backyard football with natural abilities being more important early in the year as opposed to later in the year when a team has had time to work though the playbook and find what works and FL always just seems to have more natural playmaking talent in its starting 24 players as oppsed to TN teams who rely more on teamwork and a system that works for our players

The o-line played well we are a running back away. defense impressed me today especially the d-line getting decent pressure and making it a little hard to run un us as compared to the past. Florida was older and had their playmakers in the right positions that along with home feild advantage was the edge. But for the first time in a while i feel our QB is better than theirs. We will win 7 to 8 this year they grew up today.

While I agree with your statement, I would still love for this game to get moved to November so that UF would be coming to a much cooler climate for the games in Knoxville. I still think there is a conspiracy that UF got the game in Sept. for that reason. They always play Kentucky early too.

maybe by adding a 13th/14th member to the SEC this game might have to be moved later in the year to fit in the schedule

move the game to later in year so it won't be so hot? Get over it. The fact is that our 3* s are getting run over by their 4-5*s. until we can recruit the same level of players they are we will not consistently compete.
