We owe UNC fans and players an apology for throwing trash at them

I don't care how you feel about the refs and the calls, our fans were wrong for throwing bottles and cups at their sideline. That's not how we should carry ourselves, and we embarrassed our school tonight by acting like that.

I'll probably get crucified for this thread, but I feel that we were very out of line tonight.

I love the Vols.
I went to school at UT.
I thought we got cheated tonight.
I wasn't happy at all.

I still don't think that it was right to throw things at their players.

First off, the UNC fans took up the section next to the band and nothing else. Secondly, the trash was thrown onto the stadium not the players.

The team is one thing, but...

Every North Carolina fan I saw after the game was taunting Vols fans. Especially the laughable kids who were standing on their car trying to start a riot.

I saved one kid from getting his face beat in, only to have him try to start a fight with me. Fortunately for him I was already laughing and flirting with one of their girlfriends.

Not to mention some clowns throwing their beer bottles from the top deck to the lower decks.

It was a minority but it's still shameful.

The throwing of items was initially directed at disgust towards the officials. Some of the stuff hit the UNC players, who then started yelling at the fans. Then items were thrown towards the players. OP is right, this should not have happened regardless of the emotional outcome.

The trash is totally the jumbotron operators fault. They didn't show the video of Coach Dooley asking everyone to recycle like they do at EVERY game at Neyland. No one knew what to do with their trash I guess. They just ended up throwing it on the field to go with the other pieces of trash in black and white stripped shirts.

Or chanting bull**** during their award ceremony. I didn't know if I should've laughed or felt embarrassed.

Decent point. Let them enjoy their third rate bowl trophy.

It will give them something to live for when they are counting scholarships next fall, and looking for a new coach next winter.

I cussed more than a few UNC fans but someone can get hurt unnecessarily by throwing stuff. That being said I was praying for a bottle to dome the head official.

All that other stuff is fine with me.

If some UNC fan was out of line by trying to fight someone, then go for it.
I'm pretty sure everyone in the stadium chanted "bs", and that happens.
Screaming at opposing fans is commonplace.

That's all good with me.

I just don't think it's right to throw bottles at the players and coaches on UNC's sideline.
