Iron sharpens iron. I grew up in the midstate. Not a Vandy fan, but I am glad they are at least relevant. They've been dormats for too long. Everybody loves an underdog, right? I just can't bring myself to hate Vandy.

Vandy beating UF in basketball yesterday was awesome! Would have preferred to see the Vols beat down the Gators. But any day the Florida loses is a great day for me!

I know certain teams have certain wealthy and motivated boosters. Texas Tech currently comes to mind.

But butts in seats will eventually = NIL. Talent fee, advertising $'s, etc. I don't think Vandy can be rich without actual fans.

Wealthy donors didn't become wealthy by investing their money with no expectation of a return.

To be fair, it is just one year so far but it is definitely alarming. Also, it is more like Vandy is doing well versus Tennessee is that bad. I will say the Lady Vols Basketball team was very disappointing though and that is one to keep an eye on. Football probably checks in at #2 but Football has been disappointing for 25 years now so that is par for the course...

I remember hearing a rumor a couple years ago that people wanted Vandy out of the SEC because they were not properly spending the tv money that the other SEC fan bases were generating. I think Vandy had to finally get serious about sports before the gravy train ran dry.

It’s about time. Vandy was about as exciting as playing UTC or UTM when they came to town.

I do agree it's a good jolt to get UT athletics to step it up. Vandy has done an excellent job at coach and talent evaluation. DW needs to show he can demand more from his programs like he keeps demanding more from the fans.

Seems to me that Vandy is like the cattle market in that about once every ten years they are at a high point, at least with us anyway. They beat us in ‘05 or ‘08 then again around ‘15 then again in ‘25. Now, is that them or is that on us?
