We need to hire David Blackburn

The best possible and most reasonable hire if we're willing to spend the money right now, I would say is Chip Kelly. He's not doing well right now in the NFL, reports have indicated that he wants back into CFB, and we have a favorable roster for him to be successful here. He's also proven to be a great college coach, who's capable of competing for championships. Petrino's buyout is simply too high right now, but if we wait til it's up we definetly have a shot with him too. Those two are definetly the top tier of possible coaches. The next tier is Tom Herman, Kyle Whittingham, Craig Bohl, Art Briles.
If we try to get anyone below the level of these guys it would be a complete failure.

Chip Kelly is not leaving the NFL

me too. petrino has not done anymore than what 90% or more other coaches are doing or have done except he got caught and then lied about it. I honestly think he could have taken team 120 and won the east and may have beat the crimson turd in the championship game. Every team in the country has injuries. Petrino I do not love but his offense is 10 times more effective than the so called pistol this contrary coach and old time OC are running.

Butch is here to stay for awhile imo, and I'm ok with it, if he hires a lights out offensive coordinator...adjustments are non-existent game plan is amateur..

Like he just hired a "lights out" defensive coordinator? Just swung and missed with Shoop. Don't hold your breath.

Butch has been lobbying for Whit Babcock

Read that too. How damn arrogant is that? He actually thinks we should hire some low level Big East slappy at his recommendation. Hell, he ought to be figuring out how to secure his job and $4mil annual salary right about now rather than trying to play kingmaker.

I agree but Rick Barnes' is pushing for Jon Gilbert who is from the same town as Barnes and is the one who helped hire Barnes at Tennessee. Both coaches have there agendas and want to look out for themselves. I'm sure we would act the same as them.

I'm not saying he wouldn't have Tennessee winning, but people actually thinking he'd leave Louisville to come here are fooling themselves.

I'm not sure Butch would be too happy with David Blackburn. Blackburn does not accept mediocrity. A few years ago, after Chattanooga's football team went 6-5, he was on a local radio show and mentioned he told the coaches they were expected to win conference titles and to compete for championships. He said 6-5 wasn't going to cut. Since then, Chattanooga's football team has won 3 straight conference titles and have had 3 straight top 5 classes. All of the sports programs at Chattanooga are doing amazing things under his leadership.

Blackburn is prolly a nice guy but he is a system AD. I would rather have Charles Davis who has been out in the country learning all these other top programs. Is there anything about Blackburn that makes you think he would put up big money for a coach?

Appy State moving out of the southern conference and up to FBS helped facilitate that as well.

Neither one of those are out of question...

Yes they are and some people need to get out of fantasy land. Gruden gets paid very well fir a job that is nowhere in the realm as stressful as a HC of a college team. Also, please give the proof that Gruden would be succesful at the college level.

Petrino has a what, 10 million dollar buyout? Yes we have the money but he is probably very happy at Louisville and it wouldnt surprise me if he gets a raise and extension at the end of the season. Petrino will not be our coach anytime soon.

While your point may have some validity regarding the SoCon, the quality of players and play has improved at Chattanooga. Being a season ticket holder, you cannot help but see the change. I know it's the FCS level but it's still amazing how real leadership improves things.

Need to keep Jones, but get better assistants. We go beat by a senior in high school. The team looked bred.

If i hired a new coach i would go to Louisville and not leave until Bobby P. is on the plane headed back to Knoxville.

There are only two teams in college football I like, Tennessee and Navy. If tennessee hired him, I would have to go for Navy until he is gone.

It all falls on CBJ for not having his team ready and for abandoning giving Kelly the ball.
