We need to give Butch some credit

IMO Butch needs to work on his reaction to "Sudden Change".

Walk the walk, practice what you preach, whatever cliche' you want to use.

lol. "Fans" kill me! Everyone that is saying fire Butch or they could do it better had the same opportunity to apply for the job like Butch did. This team is much better than what has been on the field in years past! They are still very young and will make mistakes! Anyone can sit and say that is not an excuse but it is reality! That is how sports works! Just like the players, Butch will learn from what they could have done different to win the game. If you don't have faith in him and the players then follow another damn team! The same people that want him fired will be wearing "Butch Please" shirts if we go 10-2!

Someone fill me in on why you get so bent out of shape over a job that you can't do?? If it's so easy then do it!

I will wait for a lot of immature and smart a** remarks that don't make sense.

Aren't you glad that our players and coaches don't give up on the fans as quickly as the fans give up on them?

GBO!

In most jobs customers are asked to fill out surveys on their experience. These surveys dictate pay, bonuses and incentives. The person taking the survey may not have ever done the job they are critiquing but their opinion still counts.

So why do I have to be a college coach to fill out my survey on Butch?

2 different things. I am certainly open to everyone having their opinion on Butch. If you don't think he is the guy that is fine. I am referring to all of the coaches that we have in the stands saying "it's obvious", "should have", "shouldn't have", etc. I am a huge Titans fan and not for once thought Vince Young or Jake Locker was the answer. I did although still cheer for the Titans, go to games and be a fan. If they irratate you that much then simply follow another team.

If I have a company come put in an AC unit and they ask me afterwards how was the service, and I tell them great and friendly.......that is far from saying I could have done it better, they were stupid, could have done it easier, how can you mess that up??? You see where I am going??

What did you say when Dooley was blowing games? Do you need to be a certified chef to know that your steak is overcooked? We have certainly let 2 games that we should have win slip away, and I think you are crazy if that doesn't concern you. I hope butch can be the guy, but I want the Vols to be great, I don't care if he is our coach or not.

I don't know how people think the "fans give up on them." It is ridiculous, Neyland is almost always packed, and we have been stuck as a 0.500 team for a decade. This is 11 years in a row to UF. When is it okay to disagree with a coach, after 12 years?

I will give Butch credit that is due on recruiting. I will not give him credit on wins until he wins. Mistakes are made by every coach but when a coach keeps making the same error and is out coached more often than not, I have an issue.

What is your solution then?

I thought this was year 3. I knew I didn't like Butch, it was his fault for all 11 years.

Tulsa scored 38 when Oklahoma put me in the game.......

Oklahoma has a real shot at winning Big 12 and getting into playoff

Tulsa had 24 at half time. We had 17. Sure, Oklahoma scored more on Tulsa but it wasn't anything to be proud of jumping on them before the half like we did.

If we hit that field goal at the end of the game, not a single person on this board would have been saying "fire Butch!" We would be celebrating getting the Florida monkey off our back. That's how close all those bad coaching decisions came to being water under the bridge.

lol. Dooley wasn't blowing games. He was getting blown out of games! There is a hug difference. The problem with sports is that everyone wants immediate success and that just doesn't happen often at all. Because of Saban and Meyer everyone thinks that can be their program. That's not reality. Does anyone outside of myself remember when there were A LOT of people/fans thinking Dantonio wasn't the right person at MSU? Look where they are at. Success is not obtained overnight at anything! Some of you need to follow Inky on Twitter to remind yourself of that daily.

If he didn't learn from one fourth quarter meltdown against OU, what makes you think he will learn from this one? His chart says he will not adjust and adapt.

I see a difference. Our offense was completely ineffective against OU in the 4th quarter, while against the gators we managed a 7:30+ time-consuming TD drive that by all rights should have put the game away.

There was progress, just not enough of it.

Tulsa has a really good offense with 9 starters back, a good QB and one of the most veteran lines in CFB. They are kind of like Bowling Green, who scored 20 in the first half against a D that OU only managed 3 on.

This is fair. Rational criticism of the coach that is deserved.

Some were critical before he coached his first game, and they are just waiting in the wings to pounce. :loco:

Unfortunately he has given them plenty of ammo to do so.

For the sake of our program I hope he wins big at Arkansas, learns from his mistakes, wins a close big game down the road that is well-coached and never looks back.
