I will not defend a single stupid decision the man has made, this game or any prior. But what I do know is that he coached us well enough to get 14 points up on one team that will likely finish in the top 5 and our most hated rival FL who we haven't even been competitive with in a decade. Not trying to put on my orange colored glasses or anything of the sort. I just recognize that Butch isn't stupid. How many times do you think he will watch the film of that game? He will learn from his mistakes. He is no Dooley. He just needs to not try and sit on a lead and win. He needs to go for the kill. I honestly think that he is so set on getting that first "signature win" that he gets conservative once he is on top, trying to let the D carry the game.

If he didn't learn from one fourth quarter meltdown against OU, what makes you think he will learn from this one? His chart says he will not adjust and adapt.

Top 5? They gave up 38 to Tulsa.

Butch can't even get his black stipe removed, I'll give him credit when he earns it and not until

With our luck whatever he does will backfire

Imagine being up 2 scores late against Bama. He makes an aggressive play call that goes horribly wrong and gives the game to the Tide. (Dobbs goes back to pass, hit and fumbles which is scooped up for a TD. Onside kick recovered by Bama. Defense blitzes and they find the open man who walks untouched into the endzone)

This is the problem. Nobody who needs to learn how to close a game has any business coaching at Southern Connecticut, let alone Tennessee. He's got to go.

Come on people, what's he going to say?

As much as he's going to admit, he pretty much "owned" the result. He said for everyone to put all the criticism on him and that everyone on the team, coaches and players, need to own their mistakes.

The guy is solid. I've been as critical as anyone regarding the play calling, the decision not to go for 2, the timeouts, the penalties, all of it. But the dude is rock solid. I believe in him.

Deep breaths and patience I guess.

Go Vols.

Jones allowed the team and assistants to win both games for about 3 qtrs. He then "managed" those games by playing not to lose... and blew it for them.

If he would've taken more risks and kept those opponents off balance... UT wins and probably by 3 TD's.

It doesn't matter how well you do with the plane in the air. If you can't land it, you aren't a pilot.

I know everybody points to the 4th quarter, but there's numerous mistakes in every play. There's progress being made, I can't guarantee that it will reflect on wins.

lol. "Fans" kill me! Everyone that is saying fire Butch or they could do it better had the same opportunity to apply for the job like Butch did. This team is much better than what has been on the field in years past! They are still very young and will make mistakes! Anyone can sit and say that is not an excuse but it is reality! That is how sports works! Just like the players, Butch will learn from what they could have done different to win the game. If you don't have faith in him and the players then follow another damn team! The same people that want him fired will be wearing "Butch Please" shirts if we go 10-2!

Someone fill me in on why you get so bent out of shape over a job that you can't do?? If it's so easy then do it!

I will wait for a lot of immature and smart a** remarks that don't make sense.

Even he said it himself, he said they called aggressive plays in the FIRST half. I think he needs to understand their are two halves (4 quarters) in a game.

13 or 17 point leads that early are not leads that need to be nursed and protected that early in the game. Why is he not able to see or admit that?

In most jobs customers are asked to fill out surveys on their experience. These surveys dictate pay, bonuses and incentives. The person taking the survey may not have ever done the job they are critiquing but their opinion still counts.

So why do I have to be a college coach to fill out my survey on Butch?

Ol' Fourth and Jancek reared his ugly head way before OU. His inability to protect fourth quarter leads goes back to Vandy in 13.

If we lose Saturday, look for the team to pack it up for the rest of year. What I'm worried about is losing recruits next year. We need all the top linemen we can get. And a middle linebacker.

Lol! That's essentially why no one should listen to Cowherd. If Butch had effectively managed the last 1:26 of the game, with 2 timeouts in his pocket, and had found a way to run more than 3 plays and somehow score to win the game, then the criticism of him today would be minimal, certainly a helluva lot less.

Btw, I and millions of Americans routinely fly on large airplanes every day....I've personally never missed a flight and I've noticed that the planes I fly in are typically full of other people who evidently didn't miss the flight either. Cowherd is a hyperbole machine.....he shouldn't be taken seriously.
