Vol8188 is slinging hash. Unsuccessfully.

Bama seems to have done a damn good job in the past 5 years without a mobile QB

Probably because they have a dominate running game. Having a two rotating runningback system that runs through defenses sure does help that QB out.

This is true, but Saban reportedly has spent the whole off season trying to figure out how to stop the mobile QBs showing up in the SEC that torch his defenses these days. It's unbelievable the amount of yardage and perhaps 3 NCs Saban defenses have given up to mobile QBs like Cam Newton, Johnny Manziel, and last year's Auburn QB Nic Marshall, who is being picked to win the SEC West over Bammer this year.

No they are not.

I thought Bama outplayed both of those Auburn teams and Bama won the national title the year he lost Manziel.

Well, looks like we just did....find a QB that can run that is. Dormady runs 4.7 40 and recorded a quicker shuttle time than Gibson. Box checked.

Black, White or French i dont think volnation will care as long as he wins. Winning seems to take care of everything. If you dont believe me go watch Remember the Titans.

:nono: I am all for openness and inclusiveness but the French thing, that's just taking it too far! Don't need our QB to have a limp wrist! :)

So is this it for Gibson then or is he still being recruited?

I think this is a very good philosophical question. I suspect we're still recruiting him and probably even still trying to find a second QB for this class whether it's Gibson or someone else. Personally, I'd be fine with signing only Dormady this cycle and free up a spot for an OL, DT, LB or CB.

If you take 2 top notch QBs in one cycle, you're virtually guaranteeing that one of them is going to leave the program early. Other than promoting competition, why bring in that second QB and ultimately "waste" the scholarship in the short-term? If you feel good about Dormady being your guy and you're going to give Jauan Jennings at crack at playing QB, I say let Dormady's commitment wrap up your QB recruiting and move on to adding depth up front on either side of the ball with that scholarship.

For snicks & giggles, scratching my head over the "outplayed" argument when there is a loss on the scoreboard, Bama is now recording moral victories? Bammer may have outplayed Auburn both of those games in your opinion, but they have yet to figure out how to stop either Cam Netwton or Nic Marshall to the point they lost the NC both times to their most hated rival Auburn ... and will lose again this year unless the defensive genius Saban (give the devil his due here) can figure out how to halt Malzahn's offense with Marshall at the helm. The same is true for Johnny Football, nobody in Tuscaloser has yet to figure out how to halt the Texas A&M offense when Manziel is leading it. 2012 Manziel rushed for 92 & passed for 253 yards against the Tide. 2013 Manziel rushed for 98 and passed for 464 yards against the Tide. Football is a team sport, but certainly just using data, the Tide is lucky Manziel went to the NFL else he would have finally turned in 100+ rushing and 500 yard passing day against the Tide this year, which means nobody in Tuscaloser has yet to halt A&M led by Johnny Manziel. They're lucky its a team sport as A&M last year was not the team of 2012, but there can be no doubt Manziel was not stopped.

Q: If he decomitts [ like so many kids do now days] weeks b4 signing and you have not recruited another young man, where are you?

Understand the question but I don't there's much chance he decommits.... He's an early enrollee, he was all over TSR radio today and QB recruitments are different than other positions... they tend to commit early and stick.

Give me a QB that can get the ball to the WRs we have now. If he runs well great but I hope he can get the ball down the field

every QB that has played at UT for the past 6 years has been a runner.

running for his life because the line can't block anybody in the SEC.

(Yes, even last year's supposed 'best line the conference' was TERRIBLE at pass blocking)
