We Need To Accept What We Have

I keep seeing threads about how we needed to swing for the fences and hire an established or big name coach, and I feel like I've been hearing this for years now.

Let me remind y'all of some of the coaches we tried to get:
-Jon Gruden
-Dan Mullen
-Mike Gundy
-Chip Kelly
-Charlie Strong (when we fired Dooley and arguably the best HC candidate during that off season)

I'm not saying these guys will be great coaches when it's all said and done, but you could consider them established coaches when they were candidates.

Either y'all don't want to remember or don't want to accept it, but we tried going after big names, even offered them big money, and they still all turned us down.

Honestly the last legitimate shot at a established was Gary Patterson or even Leach and we squandered those opportunities.

You can either focus on what we don't have or work with what we do have for the time being, because we haven't proven yet that we're going to get a big time coach, despite how much we want to believe we deserve it.

Yep. Some are in denial about this.

After one season you're able to determine if he's the guy or not ? Yeah it sucks to lose, and it's flat out embarrassing to put forth the effort we did, but he doesn't have enough body of work to make a determination.

I would almost always be with you. However if you can’t get your players and staff up for a season opener at home vs one of the worst teams in football it speaks volumes.

They were not prepared
They were not motivated
They did not execute
Some play calling was baffling
They had no sense of urgency
They were slow (as a whole)
They got pushed around
The D did not improve, it went backwards
The run game was horrible

I could go on and on. The staff was completely garbage........and they had all year to get ready.

The boosters who made sure Currie was hired over Fulmer have not gone away. They're just laying low waiting for Pruitt/Fulmer to screw up.

I've been a die hard UT fan for over thirty years, and seeing this is heartbreaking. My wife and I went to the WSU v NMST state game last night, and I still wore my UT gear proudly. One gal thought I was repping Texas, but I'll save that for later. As we were sitting through the player introductions, the one thing that struck me was all of the starters, except one, had been in the program for at least three years. And quite a few of them were redshirted. I'm not necessarily comparing our program to WSU, or Leach to Pruitt. I'm simply trying to say that it's going to take time. We may not know what we have in Pruitt or this team until it becomes "his team", and that may take a couple more years. GB🍊

Getting the Offense and defense lined up properly shouldn't be a problem in Pruitt's second year, but it is, how much deeper does it go, don't ask

I think it is time to face facts. Tennessee is not and has not been a major program for over a decade. To let you know how bad it is, i’m getting crap from Kentucky fans at work now 😂. Changing coaches isn’t going to fix this, that’s what caused and continues to cause this dumpster fire of a program in the first place. Support the kids, it’s not their fault the administration is incompetent.

Any good coach UT had a chance at grabbing was nullified because of the hiring authorities feelings and misaligned moral compass. Majors was the last home run hire, plain and simple. Everything else has been dumb luck and bargain basement dollar tree half off special tier.

Money talks. Always.
And...there you have it..It only took him 7 seasons to field a great team. This is year 2.

You know Saban lost to louisiana Monroe in a home game at Bama right?
You are aware that saban had been a head coach at 3 schools and an nfl team prior. He also win this little thing called an National Championship prior to coming to alabama, but yeah, they are the exact same.

What we have is a coach that showed no emotion in the worst loss in program history! Some may think I’m crazy but think about this... The man grew up in AL, was a huge AL fan, played for AL during a time when it was still a HEATED RIVALRY, and coached AL during a national title run! As a TENNESSEE fan imagine yourself in those situations and then you get a coaching job at AL. Would you give to flips if you destroyed that program? He’s hearing and seeing stuff right now that brings him back on why he hated TENNESSEE so much back in the day.

You can accept what we have but I won't.

Losing to Georgia State was unacceptable. Someone needs to be held responsible if this crap show continues this way. Pruitt's got 4 million reasons to turn it around right now or GTFO, Aight? He wasn't hired to lose to Georgia State. His job performance is sucking. If we F'd up that bad on our job we'd be looking for a new one, yesterday.
