When you have in state guys that lean toward another team or grew up being a fan of a team other than Tennessee it shows where the program has been and was going under the old regime. Memphis is tough, I know, but when you have players across the state that say 'I grew up a fan of LSU." that says something. It's good to know we have Smith in next years class and Eric MacLain the following class (grew up in Knoxville) but we need more than just one all-Vol in state recruit. Guys like Stone should not want to play anywhere else.

Alot of that plays into where did mom or dad go to school, or who does mom or dad root for. Both of my boys grew up watching nothing but the vols, and now they are vol fans. But had I not been a vol who knows who they would have cheered for. Just my opinion.

Lou Holtz once said while at ND that when you recruit, Half of your class should be the top players in the country and the other half are players who bled the schools colors

It really helps when a few of those players fit both categories

Justin Maclin but i get what ur saying!

No, he is talking about Eric MacLain

You obviously don't get what he is talking about, because Justin Maclin is the exact opposite type of prospect than what he is talking about.

Sorry, should have clarified. MacClain is in NC but grew up in TN and is a huge UT fan. Just don't understand why guys in state don't feel the same way.
