WE LOST TO THE #11 and #5 TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY

UGA's defense is just a step higher than ours and that's not saying much...They didn't look like they could stop anybody either

not bad seeing as how we were almost headed to OT with #5 in their house...

Huge positive tonight: after (3) years, Dooley and Chaney may have found the run game...will be big for us in the next few weeks...MSU could be the game that decides it for DD.

GO VOLS!!!!!!!!

The problem is that we will play teams around #5, #11 or better teams every year in the conference....

We have a great offense dude. Straight up. Missed some opportunities but I'm feeling really good about the rest of the year.

Give me a break man.

WE SHOULD BE THE #5 OR #11 TEAM(S) IN THE COUNTRY!!

Instead, "we almost beat the #5 team or #11 team."

^^ pathetic!!

Some of you guys are unreal. Did you really expect us to be 5-0 heading into the bye with Bama as the only toss-up left on the schedule?

You are unreal.

Do you really expect us to be mediocre?

Do you expect the only thing Tenn can get out of football season's is "almost beating the best teams in the country"?

What about expecting Tenn to be one of the best teams in the country?!

FFS some people think we are the University of Nevada or something.

Look, I honestly see where you are coming from. But do you see why we all aren't excited that the only real win we have is NC State (whose best wins are UConn and The Citadel) and that GA basically spotted us 3 TD's and we still couldn't beat a team that we play and judge ourselves against every year? I just don't think it's as cut and dry either way as people want to make it seem

No news here. We lose to all ranked teams. Dooley has quite a streak going in that department. I think the OP is actually a nega trying to point out Dooley is 0-2 again this season against ranked opponents.

Dear god yet another thread of someone being happy for a loss just because we were in the game. Are people really that brainwashed to think that way? I just threw up in my mouth...

Its amazing to see all these people happy with a moral victory... A loss is a loss, wether if its by 1 point or 50.. i love, and support the TEAM, but somebodys gotta go.. 0-12.. c-mom...

Umm...you must be brainwashed into believing that we are the Vols of the 90's and that be SEC is like it was back then. Our program was an absolute dumpster fire when Dooley took over. But keep telling yourself Dooley is running UT into the ground.

It is amazing that people verbally beat down a team (and hc) that just played their hearts out for 60 minutes on the road against the number five team in the land (who has won 15 consecutive regular season games). We're their mistakes? Certainly. But that is to be expected with any game.

You're welcome to come back to reality and stop living in the 90's. I was way more furious in the early 2000's when we actually had a lot of talent and our foes were truely inferior. That is not the case today. Whether Dooley is the long-term answer has yet to be determined. You surely can't say that he isn't based on what we have seen. Furthermore, you surely can see a drastic improvement (now) from our dumpster fire when he took over, right?

Be patient. We are moving in the right direction.

Well Kentucky is beating USCjr by 10 in the first half. Does that mean they are headed in the right direction? And if so, what direction does that mean WESTERN Kentucky is heading?

This ain't the 90s bro...the SEC is the toughest conference and we're at best ranked 5th-7th out of the 14.

I've been saying in this thread that MSU is the game that will most likely make or break Dooley. Posters are badly misreading my intent: we lost to (2) very good teams...now we have to regroup, take the positives from tonight and turn them into wins in the next few weeks. If we do, we can win some games. If we don't: Dooley will be fired. Its as simple as that.

GA spotted us nothing. We earned those turnovers. We caused them and made good on them.

It's worth noting that we were also ranked that high the past 2 seasons before we hit the meat of our schedule.

That's a fair stance to take-I guess I'm just really disappointed. I honestly thought this game set up well for us to pull it off, and now I'm not sure that we won't be facing another rebuilding job soon. We really need to beat MSU

Actually it's not. Had this game ended 56-10 and we threw in the towel before halftime, you could kiss away any chance of UT being competitive with or without Dooley for the next few seasons. If it was that big of a loss due to a team just quitting, it would take a new coach years to get rid of these "snakebit" players.

Just be patient til MSU...if we come home with an "L"...Dooley will be one-foot out the door.

You do realize that we lost both games so that logic doesn't matter.

And FTR, Georgia is NOT a top 5 team. They will be exposed very soon. Florida's beating takes place next week.

How do you know Georgia is not a top 5 team? 10 returning starters on defense that includes a few NFL draft picks and All Americans. 3 year starter at QB in the SEC... Oh, I know what you will say that a bad Tenn team put up 44 pts on this vaunted defense. Tenn must have improved by leaps and bounds. Florida's defense is sick and defense is what matters. That logic DOES matter.

I'm sorry, I just can't see the positive in this one. GA did everything they could to give us this game. Surely you saw that? The fact that they still won shows that we are light years away from keeping against the top teams in our conference. That is a cold hard fact.

Didn't have anything to do with the Vols making some plays did it?......GA just said " here we want you to kick out azzez" and then went into the fetal position....

FAIL.

Here's why... you are damn right I expect the Univ of Tenn football to be a Motha Truckin POWERHOUSE! TOP 10 EVERY MOTHA TRUCKIN YEAR!! SHOT AT SEC TITLE / NATIONAL TITLE EVERY SINGLE MOTHA TRUCKIN YEAR!!

Since the end of Fulmer's tenure, we have been mediocre.

Take your mediocrity over to Vandy. They are happy to almost beat #5.

We took LSU to the wire in Dooleys first year. Cant judge him based on keeping the game close. The fact is he is now 0-12 vs ranked teams.

That is only a valid statistic if one assumes that UT was either even or superior in talent.

I hope you wouldn't argue that such was the case.
