We lost a great Vol fan today...

My grandfather of 70+ years, and a Vol fan since 1954, has passed away. We lost a great fan, someone who has been around since the Harvey Robinson era. That's a really long time for those who don't know who he is. Heck, he even remembered the 1958 Chattanooga loss and talks about how much he loved watching Johnny Majors play football. The irony is he called me last week asking about the recruiting class, and said he couldn't wait to see "that Richardson kid" play. Volnation, we lost a good one today. Appreciate the ones you love and never take time with them for granted.

Go Vols!!! :hi:

Having suddenly lost very good friends and family the last couple of weeks, i agree. I offer my condolences and may God be with you and your family.

Here's the story of how I became a Vol.

I'm 8 years old. We are about to watch UT-UF 2001. We go over to the grandparents to watch the game. I see the Florida uniforms and logo and say how cool they were. I asked my grandfather "Am I allowed to cheer for the Gators?" I asked nicely. What happened?

"I swear, if you cheer for that team, you can go into the cold and cheer from outside the window, because there ain't no Gator cheering in my house."

I've been a VFL ever since.

Sounds like my late father. As you said earlier, the Vols have lost a great fan.

I am truly sorry for your loss z! Your grandfather is now in the Club Seating section in the sky with all of the great Vols that have gone before him. My grandmother was a great Vol fan and always told me that before she died she wanted to see the Vols win a National Championship. I can only hope that she had front row seats because she passed 5 days before the Vols won the 98 National Championship. God bless all... GO VOLS!!!

I have lost my grandparents, my parents and my sister...It is a lonesome feeling! Stay close to your family and if you want to say anything to them, tell them now because when they are gone they are gone forever!
