If you've read the editorials, listened to the commentators, the fans, watched the games you know.
I don't understand why in the hell its such a surprise that we aren't very good?

We are young. We aren't talented. We have our third coach in three years and have been decimated by injury and attrition in general.

Sit back. Relax. Root for these kids who actually are bleeding and sweating for UT.

I remember a time when UT wasn't very good and then the nineties happened. So, we will be back its only a matter of time.
Why? Because we are Tennessee. Not UAB.

I understand it...I know it...It's still hard to take it though, as it has been the last few years.

Great post. Objectivity + Common sense.

If you had posted this 3 weeks ago you'd have been branded a "negavol".

The 90s spoiled all Vol fans (myself included). 2005 to present has been something of a reality check - tough pill to swallow. Forgot what is was like to enjoy every game - especially every win.

I am grateful for every win this year. Sad we have to be grateful for a Blazers win, but that's the way it work this year

remember when Jay Graham came on and we almost cried tears of joy that we had a running game of some sort finally? And he had a better O line....

Good or bad (and it is mostly gonna be bad...real bad) this is what we have to work with. Expect crushing (yet expected) losses and brief glimpses of potential from time to time. Expectations of glory and things greater are sure to disappoint this time around. Suck it up, support our team and enjoy the small glimmers of hope when we see them.

There should literally be a Sunday afternoon support group for UT Fans.

It did not take much football knowledge to see this day coming many years ago. The long slow slide (but sometimes faster than others) by Fulmer and his crew has come home....literally. Fulmer is Big Orange all Vols, but his day has passed. There are a myriad of reasons why no one has come calling for Fulmer, but he was a Vol his entire life and that should be remembered even after his skills and abilities have passed.

There may well be many more bad days before there are better ones. The true Vols fans will care, but will not abandon ship.

I remember the days when a trip to the Liberty Bowl was a cause for great celebration including searching the stores for the best Bowl t-shirt. I was a Vols fan then.

I remember breaking a 10 year Tide streak. I was a Vols fan then.

I remember Fulmer too often snatching defeat from the jaws of victory because he simply could not make enough adjustments. I was a Vols fan then (albeit at times quite vocal about the need for change).

I watched a really thin and really bad Vols team today snatch a victory from what should have been a crushing defeat. I am still a Vols fan.

The next month might well be ugly. Really ugly. I will be a Vols fan then too.

I have never left a game early no matter how bad it got (when I had season tickets) or turned one off (now that I am much farther away) no matter how frustrated I was.

The worst day as a TN Vol is still better than the best day yelling for any other team.

Go Vols anyway.

The people that didn't have orange tinted glasses knew this day was coming. The blind homers just got blindsided.

Frankly, I am not as concerned about the football program as I am about the state of mind of those that want to live vicariously through some idiot sportscaster or find themselves as wannabe coaches. There is nothing like a "moral victory." It is an L on the win-loss balance sheet. The same is true of "ugly win." It is a W. Right now, a W is a good thing. Clearly any October win will be an upset. There is actually a chance that a November game might find UT favored ... and possibly more than once. Get used to it. Savor the W's.

I disagree with this. There is a big difference between a negavol and a realityvol.

Heck yes! This describes me almost verbatim...but the streak vs Bama was actually eleven losses and when Mike Terry came down with that interception in 1982 it felt like a thousand years weight came off my shoulders!!!

A+++++ Those already calling for different coaches heads, should GTFO! If this coaching staff does not make it, we won't be able to hire a high school coach. I saw one DA started a thread asking if Dooley didn't make it could we hire Kelly from the Ducks, couldn't hire him before Dooley,so hell no! Better get behind and support or STFU!! GO VOLS AND CDD!!!
