This guy refuses to give up (as other posts have said) which tells me a lot about his character. He knows how he is playing (I saw that in his eyes when he was interviewed for top 5 on the Lane Kiffin show). He hears all the negative stuff about his play and yet he continues to show up and try.

I think that deserves respect.

Good or bad, he is our QB, so we have to support him.

I agree, since we know hes not going to be replaced stop booing, it does no good and it doesn't look good to the recruits that are at the game.

It doesn't matter if we have his back or not IMO. I know he's trying, and it's not like I hate the guy, but how does that change anything? Yes, I have heard him booed and he does bad. But I have also heard "Let's go Crompton" too and he still sucked. I have no personal beefs with the guy. I know he tries hard, and I'm sure he's a good guy, but he is just not a very good football player.

I have accepted that this is a rebuilding year. We are on the three year plan. I will not boo and I'm gonna scream my head off for JC when he is out there, but the fact is I still have zero faith that he is capable of getting the job done, and that is a tough spot to be in as a die hard fan. :swoon3:

Neyland actually cheered like crazy for Crompton on the drive that Stocker had the 40+ yarder....JC actually looked good, the WR's were ACTUALLY CATCHING balls, and the offense looked like it had a pulse.

*IF* he could keep it together for an entire game Vol fans would LOVE him...but the problem is not the fans, its JC's head. As soon as he makes one mistake, he's toast. It takes him waaay too long to recover and sometimes he never does.

WE are not the problem. He needs his receivers to "get his back."

I thinks it's pretty funny that we scoured the country for a quarterback in 2005, and came up with someone who the OC at the time shortly after said "This kid can't play"

I wish people would just realize we are not that good this year. We have a few good players with a great player. Most of the good ones are on the same side of the ball. Our freshmen are not ready yet and we should not expect them to be. Rebulid is the word for the Nation this year. We will be back just not this year.

But I will cheer my heart out every game for these guys. They play hard.

I admire him for that. Even as a fan, I couldn't sleep well after the UCLA and auburn loss. I can't imagine what he's going through with millions of people pointing fingers at him. even our rival fans are calling him the worst qb in all fsb.
i just hope that he plays like he did in the 4th quarter of last game.

It isn't all his fault. When the ball is on target, you expect it to be caught. It isn't happening as often as it should. Granted, he doesn't have a good record of putting the ball on target as much as he should either, but if the ball is there, CATCH THE DAMN THING!! It's a bad combination when the QB isn't very accurate and the receivers don't have good hands. Crompton hasn't had anyone teach him very well it seems. And it's too little, too late. All we can do is rally around the team as a whole and hope that the staff is building for the future. Anybody who expected miracles this year is high. This will take time. The Vols didn't get in this mess in one season and won't get out of it in one season either.

Crompdaddy has all the physical tools he is just a train wreck mentally when it comes to football...I support him because anybody that can take the kind of abuse that guy has taken from some of the fans has a lot of character...I respect him and like Big Orange Nation said, any game he shows up to and plays well for the entirity of we have a shot at winning...I thought with the exception of a few thrown behind the WRs he looked a lot better in a "big game" atmosphere than he has since he came to UT and took over the starting job

I have nothing personal against him, I don't know him personally. It's just like any other job in the world..... some people just aren't cut out to do that particular job. I hope every play that he and all of the others do well, but sometimes it just doesn't work out.

I totally agree. I really feel bad for the guy. On campus the week of the FL game, JC was walking towards me. I didn't recognize him at first, but when I realized who it was I noticed that he was looking at me with this look like he was thinking, "okay, what bad thought is this person having about me now". I wanted so bad to say something to him that may give him some encouragement, but I didn't. I smiled at him and spoke, and he was very nice and smiled and spoke back to me like he was surprised that I didn't say something bad or was rude to him. We need to stand behind this guy. He's doing the best he can do, and needs all of our support, and PLEASE stop booing him when they announce the starting lineups for the games.
Booing our players is what scared Josh Nunes off.

I love people that project their negative thoughts onto someone else and then feel sorry for them.

I'll support Crompton. I think hes terrible, but it isn't his fault that there isn't a better option.
