We have no chance against any good teams

Funny, because I was responding to a condescending post.

The argument that Tennessee won't have problems with Oklahoma's road environment because they see so many tough road environments falls flat when all they have done is lose in those environments.

Just no need for you to point that out.... Most UT fans are aware of the recent struggles both at home and on the road. We don't need a rival fan rubbing our collective noses in it.

UT's recent lack of success on the road against major opponents won't have that much bearing on this game... The biggest factor is just the opposite... a bunch of young guys playing in an environment like that for the first time.

My hopes are that UT shows up and makes a game of it, exits without injuries, and learns something that will benefit them when they travel to UGA and USCe.

I would just act like he didn't exist. Intelligent bantering with a Gator fan is like seeing a unicorn or getting hit by lightning twice in the same place. It's just not going to happen.

BTW for the OP... how do you get that UT's win over ASU was less impressive than USCe's win over ECU? I was a little surprised that Mizzou didn't struggle more with Toledo than they did but they still gave up 410 yds to a pretty conventional MAC team.

OK, UGA, AL, and Ole Miss will absolutely stomp a mud hole in us. FL, Mizzou, and USC will beat us solidly.

I think we only win 3 more games this year Chattanooga, Kentucky and Vandy. I'm really disappointed, because I hoped we'd be better this year.

Who told you that we would be better this year, and they convinced you? That sounds like a you problem. I've figured 5 to 6 wins this year.

Wow im drunk but op you take the cake...did you watch sc game? We are at least going bowling book it!! So sick of neg vols if you wanna be a neg fan go follow candy sure you find something to cry about over there...we play one of the hardest schedules in ncaa!! This team is building after two of the worst coaches ever!! And I give it another year or two we will be running with anyone!!

So after alabama beating west Virginia by 10 and Florida Atlantic by 40+ lets throw in the towel on that game

After south Carolina losing to Texas am and barely beating east Carolina nope no way we win that game

After flordia playing one game against a cupcake wow they are amazing

This is football anyone's game at any given time!!

To the 'Florida's back' crowd. They just pummeled a 2 win team from a year ago. Not exactly impressive.

Do people not realize that young teams progress as the season develops? I mean, you could see us get blown out next week (hey, I'm a realist), but then play some good teams close and perhaps sneak out some wins down the stretch. Look at the Oregon game last year and yet we played a good SC and GA team weeks later and looked much better. This is why I'm really glad we have Florida in October this year. Gives us a much better chance of winning. I've always hated having them in Sept anyway.

I think we have a very sound young squad and playing this many young players has a huge upside for the next few seasons. Talent rich but learning the ropes. Mistakes will be made and learned from WEEK to WEEK, not just season to season. So don't jump all over this team and write them off.

Looking at Jalen Hurd today, I can see how that kid will be a star. Bet you he will be breaking some big runs soon. You can see him sorta figuring things out. It'll be fun to watch.

This is for sure, this team from game 1 and 2 will be MUCH different than the team we see in games 10, 11, 12, and hopefully 13. (and by real long shot, but always possible...14).

I have mostly had concern over the offensive scheme. not the players. We will see over the next month and I pray bajakian makes me feel foolish.

Do you guys really think Tennessee has a chance in Norman? If you ever have a shot to go to Norman for a game, take advantage of it, win or loss.

I had planned to ring in the New Year in Vegas but I guess it's time to bag that idea! Norman, Oklahoma here I come, baby!...I shall be making my reservations at the closest thing you have to a 5* hotel tonight (the Motel 6) in your abandoned cow pasture of a tornado alley town...

When I look at all these nega comments, I see a thread full of potential. You have potential, you have potential, uh.....oh.

This is NCAA football. We have very young players. You don't know what will happen in this sport from week to week but when you are playing so many young kids you really don't know what's going to happen. Don't count us out till the fat lady shows up in Dec!

When your home stadium is one of the biggest in all of football, trying to claim intimidation when on the road is just stupid. That comes in to play when you are used to playing in front of 50-60k, and then go into a place and have to deal with the sound of a 100k screaming at you.

First off, op, they are making fun of you on a spooners message board, and assuming that you represent our fans. Dry your eyes and put on your big boy pants. This is Vol ball and we have a tendency, once in a while, to not play our best. I have seen us destroy top ten teams and then nearly lose to Memphis multiple times in my life, it's a bumpy ride, get used to it.
We won. Next week will be harder. Next week we could play our best and lose. Next week we could catch some breaks and stun the world, it may not be likely, but I am going to go ahead and watch, just in case.

Lol, no. One game doesn't mean squat for the rest of the season.

We looked great against Utah State and average against Arkansas State (and they're a pretty good team).

The real team #118 is somewhere in the middle of these two performances.

This. Arkansas State should be confused with Sam Houston State or Lamar. We are gonna surprise some people and it seems like many of those are on this board.
Thank God coaches don't react like Nega-Vol-Fans.

This years Oklahoma team would go 10-2 at the worst in Tennessee's schedule. @Georgia is a loss, and then probably lose the other to @Ole Miss, Alabama, or @South Carolina. Please "Gauntlet" my ass

Just did.... U just said you'd lose two games in the sec.. What a tool... You're " that guy" on the OK sites.... Gtfo of here ya horses ass

USC does not look good at all. Should be 0-2 and will lose to UGA. And I am still not impressed with UGA. Defense is suspect and need to see more from Hutson Mason before I think they are the real deal. Florida and Missouri are toss ups. UTC, UK, and Candy are all wins. With that said, we should end at 6-6 with a win over USC but I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up at 8-4 either

e.

that he feels a need to do it says a lot more about his own problems than any problems that UT has

Why is anyone giving props to Scar? They look like ****. Also ole miss beat candy by about the same margin as temple did. Uga looks solid as does bama. Uf is an unknown, but I'm not writing off that game yet. Mizzou hasn't impressed yet either.

Probable losses include bama and uga. Probable wins are Chattanooga, UK and candy. Scar and mizzou are toss ups that are almost in the category of probable wins. That leaves ole miss and uf and they are toss ups but probably closer to probable losses.

I think 6-7 wins is probable.

It is way too early to tell, big guy.

One of the reasons we love college football so much is the unpredictability. This UT football team is going to be fine.

As long as the defense continues to tackle well and the offense continues to take care of the football, the Vols will be in the game when the 4th quarter rolls around. Build upon those two aspects, improve the kicking game and solidify the play along the offensive line & the Vols will be a seriously tough "out" for everyone they play, in 2014.

Old timers will remember the 1980 and 1981 teams.

In 1980, some young Vols lost to eventual national champ Georgia by 1, lost to powerful USC by 3 on a late FG to open the season, then routed Auburn 42-0 on the road. 1980 Vols finished 5-6.

In '81, Vols opened with a 44-0 loss to Georgia and a 43-7 loss to USC. Things looked terrible and the chute was being greased for Johnny Majors departure on Rocky Top. The 1981 team finished 8-4, including the first bowl victory of the Johnny Majors era.

Team 118 is obviously young. However, there is actual talent on the field. They will be inconsistent when it comes to execution, game to game, but this bunch plays with great effort and pride.

There will be some very disappointing scores, this season, but I'm loving this squad. These guys will collect a couple nice scalps, before the year is over.

I guess FSU needs to mail their season in too. They only beat lowly Citadel about like UT beat ASU. Surely they'll never beat a good team....

Do you even watch Tennessee football we have a good chance in beating south carolina, missou, the rest of the games havent been played yet dont get down on them yet. I believe we have 1 of the best coaching staffs in the country. We have alot of fresh and soph.playing really well against junior and seniors.
