As a fan I feel like my chest has been ripped open. But I have to say we can't give the refs reasons to call stuff on us. I don't know what conference they were from but I have to say they seemed to be looking for penalties on that last drive. But that lead with the helmet is called a lot in the nfl and cfb even if it was a clean hit so it really is up to the refs the way it has been called that is. It was stupid to hit him in that situation. JJ did launch because he was so far away and his body motion made it look worse. If he would have just let him catch it that's still not fg range. Unneccessary. Also the vols did seem to get more chippy as the game went on. I think the refs started to see us as pushing the limits on the field. Then we actually did-

Run into the kicker on that last fg
There was a second on that last play
Everytime we lose it's when something doesn't go our way then we self destruct. Our play in ot was awful except for that one td pass.

But I fel every penalty we got could have been either way but if we just don't get to crazy there are no penalties anyway. And the refs choked on the end of the game rule. They should have not let the play run. That's were the mistake was. But I doubt they would let any game end without giving the offense a chance at trying to run a play. It's just natural. There are too many rules that are judgement calls in cfb these days. from celebrating to speering to how many wr are on the line. It's never called the same so refs can do what they want.

So my final thought......they WANTED to screw us.

Kiss my checkered.....

For the record, I dont think we got called for roughing the kicker. One of the players threw his helmet down to the ground after the kick was made. Thus, 15 yds.

I thought the call on the last FG was for a Vol taking their helmet off?

Bob Davie said the call against JJ was "leading with the helmet" but if you listen to the referee (have to listen close because the announcers are talking over the call) JJ was called for a hit above the shoulders.

Vid
- the ref's call starts at :30 seconds.

Not that it matters now, but they showed the fiasco at LSU on the news when they we're talking about last nites game and I saw a LSU lineman take his helmet off and slam it on the ground like Williams did and they didn't give them a 15 yard unsportsmanlike penalty.

Reminds me of terrance cody last year when he threw his helmet off. Apparently were just cursed or we dont get the same rule privelages as other colleges :cray:

There is no "Launching" rule. The only thing close is the hitting of a 'defenseless player" which would be a hit to the head or above the shoulders. He hit him in the back, didn't even lead with his helmet.

All the top programs that win NC get calls. Fulmer got calls until his last yr. Kiffin got no calls because he was a jerk. Dooley isn't going to get any calls in his first yr. And he has made enemies of the refs as he has acted like a maniac all yr. He has to do a better job next yr for us to compete. You can't go off on refs unless you win a NC or multiple bcs games. They just don't give you credibility. This is another example of our team ( coach in this instance ) being stupid and giving the refs reason to screw us. I have a feeling they see us as undisciplined thugs. And that comes from the coach down.

I read somewhere that they never flagged Tebow for excessive celebration. Well the refs were scared of Meyer and his NC status and everyone loved Tebow and didn't see him as a thug taunting. Just think of it as if Peyton Manning got excited and if Mike Vick got excited. Two different images.

So I reiterate my point.....we got screwed vut we were stupid as well.

Was it after the td at the end of the game?

You are delusional. Scared of Meyer and his NC status. I hope you are joking. If not you might want to stop smoking that stuff it really does kill brain cells.

It amazes me people think like this. I wish you were being sarcastic but I don't believe you are

A catch is 28 yards. A penalty is 15 yards. Whether or not you think it was a penalty (and I don't), jarring the ball loose is FAR more important. And Janzen successfully jarred it loose. I bear no ill will towards the refs for calling the penalty (even though it was wrong), just for robbing Janzen of the forced incompletion.

I am personally sick of blaming the refs for this game. Lincoln...MAKE AN XP! Why you continued to kick low liners all night is beyond me, maybe cause those low liners worked out so well last year when mount cody just about ate one and we should have beat Bama.
