We finally turned the corner in the last 4 minutes yesterday

They knew going in that Troy was going to be a bad match up. Certain teams are just bad match ups. Last year or early this year, we would have choked. Yesterday we found a way to get a stop (unlike Georgia game) and Bray came through (unlike South Carolina).

Against a 4-4 team from the Sun Belt conference.

Defense did what it needed to do and Bray proved he was money. We are going to roll in the last 3 games and bowl!

The defense actually did do what they needed to, by allowing Troy to score fast, it left enough time for the offense to tie and then win. We are so bad it works.

There was talk weeks ago that Troy was a worse matchup than some higher rated teams because of personnel. Chip Reeves was viewed as being a very difficult assignment. The concern was that we could not be effecient enough to outscore them. Howard's fumble almost made the fear come true. Bray didn't choke this time. That is why I see it as a break through. The same thing happened to Peyton and the Vols against Memphis in 1996 when they lost.

:lolabove:Are you serious? You gotta be on the job in the first place to quit.

Did u watch the whole game? I was surprised we stopped them that many times at the end... Would've been easy for our guys to just let them have it, but they didn't.

So we're going to roll, because our QB didn't choke against a 4-4 team from the Sun Belt conference?

I am proud of the offense's performance, but UT should'nt have been in the situation to begin with. The defense did hold stong in the end, but giving up 700+ yards to anyone is inexcusable.

He is paraphrasing Dooley with is first sentence, basically what Dooley said on his show this morning. The second sentence is the OP's

This is what UT football has become? You have to worry about matchups against a SunBelt team? We should have throttled those guys. They should have limped out of the stadium with their heads hung in shame.

If this is your view on UT football then you've resigned yourself to mediocrity. I never thought I would see the day that Vol fans would think like this - even on VN.

Sad, sad, sad....

:lolabove:It was Troy not Alabama,Florida,Georgia. You do know we were fav. by 20 points. It shouldn't even been close. Gave up over 700 yards in offense to TROY. :jpshakehead:

That is true, i will point out that we dropped three wide open touch down passes and fumble on the six yard line. That would have been 24 points without the extra points.

Has to be sarcasm.

This is what most of college football has come to. That is why Kent State can beat an undefeated Rutgers and UL Monroe can beat Auburn and Bama in a 5 year period span. There is a lot of parity. With the scholly numbers reduced and academic standards raised, a lot of SunBelt teams will have 3 and 4 star recruits in skilled positions. I just think we have seen a hurdle crossed as far as Bray is concerned and the D finally was able to make a 4th quarter stop to win the game. Heck, Miss State barely beat Troy this year.

This statement proves just how bad we are. We have to hope for our kicker to make extra points. :bash:
