That's what was said, more or less, by Coach Dooley. So the success of 2012 season will come down to coaching.

Agree?

Seriously, I think we should have the talent to be in most every game. That being said...I think several games could come down to coaching...I guess we will see?

Did you listen to the entire quote that you're referencing?

He also said basically, "I'm not saying we are at the same level as some other SEC schools, but we are at least deep enough to be competitive."

I'm not trying to split hairs here, but if you're going to gig on Dooley based on what he said, at least be intellectually honest in how you do it.

If you mean that I left the quote incomplete to take a shot at him, that was not my intention.

I am merely saying that if he feels the team is more competitive talent wise then coaching, whether it be scheme or game plan or just motivating the team, will be more of a factor in success.

I gotcha. I guess my point is that the same quote was an admission that we are still trying to get to an "SEC level" of talent and depth. I can hardly understand how someone could hear that and construe it into a statement that "it's all on the coaching now".

If I misinterpreted your point or unduly attributed motives, then I apologize...

Yes. More and more this is the "team that Dooley built" and not the "team that Fulmer/Kiffin ran into the ground". If he can't win with "his" players who now have one or two years of experience then we have to start considering whether he can coach well enough to get it done.

I think I just had someone assume I was a negavol because I said DD should be held to a pretty high standard of what is "reasonable".

I'm neither negative or positive... I am waiting. He has the tools finally. I have not judged whether he can coach based on seasons where he did not have the tools. I have not assumed he can coach... I DO NOT KNOW... but am very anxious this fall to find out.

Let's just say I haven't been this exicted about our chances in the football season in a long long time. Is it September yet???
