They just said that Tyrann Mattieu wanted to come to Tennessee or Alabama and neither wanted him. And we did not want Randell Cobb. Makes since why we are in the mess we have been in. Two kids like that want to play for Tennessee and we tell them no.:eek:k:

Makes a lot of since (sense), but I doubt that UT turned down someone they knew was talented enough. Some just slip through the cracks sometimes.

The story is that he was the best player in UT's camp back in 09, and Kiffin didn't offer.

Probably would have ended up at LSU anyway, though.

They were calling him "The Truth" at camp.

He was rated a 3 star, but the camp shot up his stock.

He came to a camp here but we didn't offer. Inky Johnson was a GA at the time for Kiffin and wanted Kiffin to offer Mathieu but Kiffin thought he was to small.

He's a sophomore and Dooley did offer from what I understand.

Edit: guess it would have been Kiffen since he was in the 2010 class.

but yet people ***** up a storm when we take a chance on a lightly recruited kid,like our latest commit out of GA. cant remember his name off the top of myhead.

all the stargazers on here would have said not offering him was a good call because we already had enough 3 star talent....:glare:

IIRC we did offer Cobb but he chose Kentucky cause they were the first to come calling. So it was not that UT didnt want him.

Same with Patrick Willis....

that one hurts me more than any. We could and should have got him; but we were too slow and Ole Miss got him first.

That is totally untrue. We wanted him, but as soon as LSU offered, that was it. He committed to LSU. He camped at UT. I believe that UT offered him at camp not sure. He was the dominate DB at UT Camp. Kiffin posted video on youtube of the camp, which I believe was against NCAA rules so they had to remove it from youtube.

I guess that is why Fulmer is not here anymore.....He got lazy and let some quality players get away.

He wasn't going to be able to play QB here...that's pretty much it. UK said he could there.
