I am happy to see Alabama return to #1. I hope they stay there... until we beat them. Georgia should then return to the top spot. If we can get our D together, we have an opportunity to create a resume unlike many others. That would be two #1s and at least four other top 25 teams played before any postseason match-ups, as LSU auspiciously joined the top 25 today. For the past 15 years, this scenario would have been met with doom and gloom. This AD; HC; staff and team have certainly changed things on Rocky Top at warp speed. If it doesn't happen this year, so be it. The great underlying fact is that our football program, for the first time in what seems as ages, is a legitimate contender. Go Vols!

We are a good time, not a great time. That reality will set in over the next several weeks.

However, 10 wins including a good bowl and a top 10-15 ranking feels possible.

I don't believe in jinxes and I don't believe in luck, but I do believe a lot of you are setting yourselves up for disappointment. Disappointment that will be turned into added misery for the rest of us. Please be happy with the state of the program and take things one week at a time. For all our sakes.

I am certainly enjoying the new respect we are getting now, and no one is going to take it away from me except maybe myself and my high expectations. I’ve been a devoted Vol fan since at least my 7th grade, that was 1964. I thought then we were the best football team that ever played and I thought that every year no matter the record. It was my way of life, my friends thought the same way I did, it was their way of life, it was what we lived by.
When we divided up into teams in the backyard we would fight you to be Bobby Majors, or Condredge, or Hacksaw, or Sievers, or a whole list of others. We knew them not only by their number but their name, their stats, their hometown, they were family to us.
Actually the last few years I was beginning to think might not ever enjoy those type days again in my lifetime. When occasionally seeing my old backyard friends I discovered they had the same thoughts, we talked about those days with the same passion we did as little boys. See, we never grew out of that, nor did we want to. We refuse to say those days are gone, we BELIEVE!
So, forgive me if I get overly excited, make dumb a$$ predictions, or make you a little uncomfortable, but this might be the last best chance I have to be that kid again and I’m not going to miss it!

Whatever happens happens. If we go 1 loss and no sec champ appearance, we make playoff. If we go 2 loss with one being sec champ, we go to playoff. Basically from here on out, no slip-ups. Go 2/3 on bama/uga/kentucky and we will make the playoff. Crazy to think of, but not out of the question.
