i dont think anything can be guaranteed this year, regardless of what happens Saturday....Georgia will be a lot better by the time we play them, oh, and it's in Athens, GA. LSU could be the best team in the SEC, and we'll find out this Saturday when they play at Auburn....yeah, I wasnt expecting these threads until after our possible win THIS weekend.
uh, we do play Florida Saturday...let's not get ahead of ourselves.
and yeah, anything is possible, but in all likelihood, 2-3 losses are going to happen.
i'm picturing a guy with a table strapped to his back running down the street screaming "i'm no. 1, i'm no. 1!!!".![]()
i agree, and stated this in another thread a few minutes ago, but i do think on paper, LSU and Florida are the only teams that should beat us, just on paper. I think we're capable of winning those games, but "capable" is far from "sure".Please name the 3 losses.... because I disagree
Prior to the season, a majority posted that Cal would beat the Vols and there was no way that Ainge could recover from a season like last year. Now the Vols sit at 2-0 with Ainge leading the NCAA in passer rating. The defense looked good against a conventional offense in the first game and looked poor against a defense they'll never see again in the second game.
Of the remaining teams on the schedule, only Florida and LSU appear to have much in the way of decent offenses. Both of those games are in Neyland Stadium.
whoa, wait a minute..."just going to a bowl game"...the SEC E is a realistic goal and will be until we go down two games in the East...Exactly, I think that is what MrRockytop must be thinking when he says Tennessee can run the table. I think realistically you need to be thinking this year about getting to a bowl game.
You need to be thinking about how you are going to be drowning your sorrows Saturday night.
...JTIII wasn't the answer and everyone knew it. Now that he's hurt, Stafford, the "golden boy", gets all the reps in practice and likely will start all three games. I think by the time we play them, any issues they had, will be answered, and it's in Athens..

i agree, and it was one game, where he came in on a releif effort in a hostile environment, against a pretty good, not great, defense.Stafford looked HORRID against South Carolina on Saturday. I don't think a few weeks of #1 reps is going to turn 45% completions and 3 picks into a QB capable of beating the Vols.
huh? i think our history at QB speaks for itself...it's not like we had chopped liver....Peyton Manning, Heath Shuler, Andy Kelly, Tee Martin....i think Fulmer has done fine in regards to qb's...Smelley looked better than Stafford to me even without the same kind of supporting cast.
I think Fulmer should wait until Spurrier starts recruiting a QB then go after him. Spurrier definitely has a nose for QB's. Makes me feel pretty good that he went so hard after Crompton.
He's not really alone as a doubter. You can see it in the polls too.But to think the anybody ought to be worried about not making a bowl this season... pleeeeasee!! give me a break :BANGHEAD2: your posts are usually more well thought out than that?
that i agree with and really don't have a problem with it...we're 2-0 right now, but it was a jeckyl and hide performance from one week to the next, and the game was on pay per view, and not many people saw it...prolly just the box score and/or highlights, likely from the 4th qtr come back effort on AF's part....He's not really alone as a doubter. You can see it in the polls too.
FSU should have dropped after Troy. They didn't. Miami shouldn't have moved up in the Coaches poll. They did. UT had some flaky plays in the 4th qtr or else would have won by two or three scores and they drop in the AP and are ranked 2 below Miami.
The Vols still haven't been forgiven for last year. People are still sitting around waiting (many hoping) for the other shoe to drop. This AF game just gave those folks an opportunity to say, "Uh-huh, I told you it was too good to be true."
Lawgator is a really nice guy. He's just reflecting a fairly pervasive feeling about UT right now. Not a fair opinion IMO but none the less common.
