We can play with the big boys

I'm going to keep this short and sweet. One thing that's evident to me after watching us play tonight is that we have the talent and coaching staff to play with the big boys. However we will not beat them until we find a true quarterback. The end.

I agree, but I said this in another thread ... buckle up.

Uhh, we got dogged on both lines. OC was awful, DC was average at best. I don't know what you think you saw.

This team will only be competitive against teams that cannot shut down the running game. Fortunately, that is most of the teams left on the schedule.

The defense is sufficient.

But, the QB is who he is and mediocre at best. So, the offense will rise and fall with the running game. We will win few games with the pass happy game plan we had today.

I thought before the season that 5-5 is okay...with 6-4 or better being great. The next game is huge, because it is a winnable game.

That's it. It's the same common denominator other than Pruitt being head coiach that has allowed UGA to hang 40+ points on us and beating us by at least two TDs. It's the QB.

Lmao don't you know everything is the QBs fault?

Yall remember when the line sucked before Dobbs got in the game and suddenly it didnt? Because he made quicker decisions and could run. Then Ds had to worry some and couldnt just tee off at the line. Thats how a Good QB can help the entire offense and if dobbs could have had better line it would have been even better .

We aren’t close to Bama, GA....and UF will always have our number. Those are the only games that matter. We’ve not come any closer to those teams since the Pruitt era started.

I do agree, JG needs to go. He has reached his ceiling and he is never going to beat the big 3 on our schedule. It is what it is and we need to move on.

We couldn't run the ball or protect the QB against the best front seven in college football, but we're a QB away from playing with UGA? We could've put any QB back there and still would've lost.
UGA played downhiill all day. How many times did UGA blitz and how many times did JG find the open guy or throw someone open? UGA has a great Defense. They're very talented. But they knew exactly what JG's limitations are as a passer and turned it into a VERY successful gameplan. His two TD passes are actually evidence that this is what UGA was doing. They were willing to go man on the outside because they simply did not believe JG could make them pay consistently.

And blitzing JG is easy since he is a fixed target in the pocket. He doesn't move around and help his OL.

And that's before you consider the 3 critical turnovers.

JG might be a bad qb but we made a 4th string walk on look like a heisman trophy finalist......AGAIN!

We can’t play with the big boys with the players we have. Until we start bringing in bigger and better players this is going to be the result.

Disagree with this. UT's D played well enough to win if JG could have made their D honest. JG's fumble and INT gave UGA the lead without UT's D giving up an inch. JG's next fumble flipped the field in UGA's favor to put them up to a 9 point lead. You can't keep putting your D on the field in unfavorable field position and expect them to hold up.

JG's 3 fumbles and INT are why the game got out of hand.

Agree. Even if it costs you a win or two... why not go ahead and play for the future? I honestly doubt UT would actually lose a game they would have otherwise won.

UT could also let the other three guys compete now and play it out on the field.

In truth though... there is zero chance of this happening.

BONEHEAD SUMMARY

FIRST HALF
9 min into game, Deondre Johnson - targeting, ejected.
7 penalties for 74 yards.

SECOND HALF
JG fumbles on 1st possession deep in our end.
JG throws pick on 2nd possession deep in our end.
JG fumbles on 4th possession deep in our end, but we recover and punt.
JG fumbles on 6th possession deep in our end, GA scoops and scores.
Only 10 men on defense twice requires defensive timeouts.
3 additional penalties.

Too much bonehead!

So are offense scores 14 points, has 13 first downs and 214 total yards and overall the OLine did nothing but collect penalties and we did not score in the second half but we have talent and a coaching staff to play with the big boys? Who are the big boys? We were completely dominated on the line of scrimmage and lost by 23 points. Interesting.

UT has a very talented OL. They have good RB's. They have speed and talent at WR. The D held up well for most of the game. They just got worn out. UGA had the ball for over 36 minutes. They had 77 plays to 59 for UT.

If you are going to play with the "big boys" you need a playmaker at QB. When the opponent blitzes, you MUST have a QB that can anticipate throws and throw receivers open. He has to be able to hit seems and open spots. Even after the two deep TD throws... UGA wasn't scared of JG's ability to beat them deep consistently.

What helps a quarterback is a run game.

I didn't see but two plays in the 2nd had to leave and check on a friend who had a stroke.

Dominating on the lines is not easy against Georgia. Gotta have some more depth talent.

Pruitt talks a lot about response to adversity. Kentucky is needing a win and the way we handle the next game will show. We won a close one last year. Athletic QBs are a issue

Not if he can read a pre snap blitz and actually gets rid of the ball.

By play with the big boys do you mean getting curb stomped?
