We can play with anybody on paper

I didnt even mention QBs because there is no comparison. And Fields is likely better than Fromm..
I think if Fields does play, I think we’ll be ready for him. I believe we can stop him. I believe by the time we get to Georgia, our defense will be at another level. I don’t think it is going to take long either. At 6 more weeks, I believe we will see a elite defense better than it is now. I believe 5 and 0 is our start.👍

Guys, I've not posted a whole lot lately, and not that it matters, but we've got a bunch of studs on our hands . . .as players. We're about to find out what kind of coaches we've got and if they're ballers too.
If it comes together, we could see something No one expects.

It all lies on the players and coaches as a team.

I hope we beat the piss out of wvu this weekend.

Where are you guys watching it at?
You are right, we are going to see great things early, starting Saturday. We do have a lot of ballers, and a lot of great players that has been coached up ready to go. I think we light it up Saturday, making a big statement.

Tennessee football: Depth chart shows Vols can play with anyone on paper

Now, I’ve been researching Georgia a lot this pass spring, and up till now this very day. I’ll just say it...their defense isn’t what everyone thinks. I’ve been saying it. They just lost thei 5 star running back as a freshman for the year. I think the defensive talent that we have can beat their offensive line in areas. I think our offense can beat their defense, especially in the passing game. If our offensive blocks down, we can move the ball rushing as well. I think we can go 5-0, to start out folks.👍
Last year wasn't supposed to be the UGA team to beat, this year's was. Last year took UGA fans by surprise. Losing Zeus at RB doesn't have an effect on them at all. He was lowest on depth chart anyway. Sadly, UGA is pulling away from the nation recruiting wise. Wouldn't be surprised to see some cheating going on with the amount of 5* players that are lining up. Hope you're right bro man. GBO

UGA will be the best in the East this year. Probably won’t make the playoffs, but has a good chance. They’ll be back in the playoffs and winning titles in 2019 and 2020 most likely. If there’s a time to beat them it’s this year, but we don’t have the depth or talent.

That's actually a good read. Tennessee has talent. Just needs a coach that can coach, and good play callers. Guess what??? We have that now. Now I'm not saying we're going undefeated, but I will say that we will be in some games that maybe we shouldn't.

This thread reminds me of Butch’s first year. A guy calls into Basilio about mid-August telling Tony how we’re going to win at Oregon.

“Tony, we’re gonna go up air and punch ‘em in the mouff. Run ‘at clock and get us the win. Butch got these boys ready I just feel it.”

“Sir, are you driving right now?”

“Yep, I’m up here on 40 West.”

“Well, you need to pull over immediately because you’re intoxicated. You’ve had too much to drink you’re outta here.”

Other than it being the first year of each respective coach’s system, how does the 2018 season resemble 2013? The starting point for Pruitt is leaps and bounds more favorable than what Jones inherited overall. It doesn’t make sense that the recruiting services that are so heavily valued would have misevaluated 60+ guys the last few years all on the same team. The systemic issues of Jones are the common denominator.

If CJP goes 10-2, he'll get SEC CoY and college football CoY easily. Then he'll get a 10-year extension at UT. I'm ok with that.

I love where you’re coming from but this is orange tinted preseason euphoria at its finest.

I drink some Budweiser. I’ll probably have a few at the house Saturday, grilling out. I thought I’d tell you what I drunk, so you can drink one with me wherever you are at.👍

I take nervous poops before games. I'll probably take one 30 minutes before kickoff. Thought I'd let you konw so you can take one with me in unison on Saturday.

Let’s beat WVU before we talk about Georgia.

Thinking we beat a top 3 team like UGA in their house with a first year coach resembles the call in story perfectly. Oregon was also ranked 3rd at the time. Just preseason inflated expectations and excitement.

I do agree with you that Pruitt has more to work with than Butch Year 1.

You hit the nail on the head. This makes all the difference in the world. Fromm, Bentley, and Tua were all exceptional from day one. Lock is a record-breaker, as is Stidham, and Grier a Heisman candidate. Even Shurmur has a chance to surpass Cutler in the Vandy record books. To date, we just haven't seen much from Guarantano.

Totally off topic, but u guys think Kesling is lame as an announcer? I just watched Ohio St. v Michigan replay on Big 10 network and they played clips of the OSU radio calls. This guy is the ABSOLUTE WORST radio play by play guy in sports history. His TD calls sound like he's asking his wife to pass the potatoes. His timing...sense of the dramatic...inflection...energy etc etc etc is absolutely pathetic. I question whether he even likes football. Sorry. I just had to share this. Carry on.
It's like replacing Pat with Holly.

Jesus man, are you being serious? People are already saying Swift is better than Chubb or Michel was. We havent had a RB as good as either one of those guys in a long time. Madre London? Jordan? Banks? Chandler? If Swift was to come to UT right now, he would easily be the starter from day 1 and become our best player on offense immediately. Our OL is not as good. UGA has one of, if not the best OL coach in the country. Defense? Our defense was one of the worst in CF. Its not going to go from one of the worst to one of the best.

I dont think they beat us 41-0 again. But they will beat us handidly again.

Yet as players, Michel and Chubb had what kind of record against the Vols? Smart was 1-1 against Butch Jones. I don't get the Superman status some Vol fans are assigning to UGA on the regular.

People have to begin to understand that there is a point in time where a player stops being his high school rating and starts being a good or bad college player.

The same way Peyton Manning stopped being the #1 overall pick of the draft and became a future hall of famer and Ryan Leaf stopped being the #2 overall pick of the draft and became a complete bust.

I will admit i have been Keslings worst critic. But i have to give credit to him for improving. Maybe he was thrown into the job without experience. But he has gotten better. Its the basketball games i cant stand. Burt or Bert whatever his name is. Shooter is 0-20 and hits a three. MONEY!!! What a nitwit.
